I contacted African American Travelers on numerous occasions to cancel a trip for Dec. 2023. I've contacted the company at their number posted ************** and by email [email protected] and no response. They did email me to cancel my subscription due to a missed payment despite me asking for a refund that has gone ignored. My account for invoice # ***** has yet to be refunded. I have sent numerous requests for a full refund in the amount of $979.02 from the three payments drafted from my account in the amount of $326.34 on the following dates: 2/17/2023 3/17/2023 4/17/2023 After reading other complaints it appears this company has a history of taking money from clients and ignoring written requests as well as not returning phone calls when messages have been left on numerous occasions. I requesting a full refund in the amount of $979.02 by company check as I refuse to give them anymore access to my credit card information in fear they will try to charge me additional payments as they have done before.

May 22, 2023 LGM Travel, LLC ******* (8-12-2015) d/b/a African American Travelers ******* (12-14-2018)c/o ************************************ c/o ************************* c/o *************************** c/o *************************** ************************************ RE: Bali June 2023 BACKGROUND On or around September 2019 I signed up for a vacation to Bali, Indonesia (“Bali”) through African American Travelers (AAT) that I found on ********* The trip to Bali was to depart June 2020, but due to Covid-19 the trip was postponed two more times until June 2021 and June 2022. The Bali was again postponed due to the restrictions of not being able to enter into the Indonesia and was postponed again with a date of June 19, 2023. During the first postponement of June 2021 for, June 2022, ATT offered prepayment for airfare to take place over the course of 11 months at $137.50 per month totaling $1,375.00 for roundtrip airfare. I took part in the opportunity to pay for the airline tickets over time. By June 2022, I had a credit of 1375.00 for roundtrip airfare to Bali or so I thought. By the second postponement for June 2022 for June 2023 the price for the Bali increased and ATT advertised that airfare was not included and would have to be paid on our own. Around November 2023, I asked ATT for the airfare schedule and the cost if there was any difference in airfare as I had a credit from the year previous. I was advised that the airfare had not come out yet and they would announce at the beginning of the 2023 year. **** contacted AAT at approximately January 2023 and spoke to ****** ******. She inquired about the airline tickets and the credit we had on our accounts (myself, ****, *******). ****** confirmed that we did have a credit and she was not sure about the ticket prices. **** advised that we were inquiring if there was a difference as the cost of airfare had increased due to the cost of airline fuel. ****** stated that if there was a difference that they would cover the difference. **** also explained that we could not get the travel insurance as we needed to purchase the airline tickets. ****** also advised that she was also waiting for the tickets to come out as she had not gotten her ticket yet either. At this time **** messaged ******** and inquired about the airline tickets. ******** soon responded and ****** advised us that ******** stated that the ticket prices would be posted by the beginning of February 2023. **** and myself said OK. At the mid-February 2023, there still was no ticket prices. I and **** contacted ATT again, throughout the month of February 2023, but there was no response. In the month of March 2023, **** called and got ahold of ******* ****** and advised of the previous conversation with ****** in January and that we had been calling all of February with no success. ******* advised that someone will give me and **** a call back. The following week I called and spoke to ******* and was advised the same that someone will get back in touch with me. No luck. The third week **** and I again contact ATT and got ahold of ******* ******* via a three-way call (i.e. conference call) and we explained the situation. We advised that we found ticket and a way to utilize about 80% the $1,375.00 toward the purchase of our tickets, but we need the money back for the airline portion we had already submitted previously. Airline tickets are double the amount of our original airline payment of $1,375.00 for roundtrip airfare to Bali back to Los Angeles (i.e. LAX-USA). ******* advised that he would get ahold of someone and have them get back to us. We advised that we already had been waiting, but there has not been a response. We further advised that we needed get out tickets before price increases as time was running out. April 2023, I called again and spoke to ******* again and again advised that we still had not received a call. ******* advised that ******** and ****** was not available as they were preparing to leave the country for another trip. I advised that was not acceptable and it was disingenuous and it seemed like they were trying to scam us as they have not been very forthcoming and evasive. The next day ****** called us back and advised that since the cost of the trip had increased that we would not receive the full $1,375.00 back. The trip was now $2,195.00 and would receive approximately $1,265.00 refund for the airfare deposit that was paid to ATT. **** told ****** that was fine. ****** advised me I would only get back $900. I said that doesn’t seem that was correct as we paid the same amount for our airline tickets to them. We had agreed that since time had passed and ****** advised that they should could not return the money to the original form of payment, she would send the refund for the airline ticket via ***** to me: ******. ****** stated that she would call us on that upcoming Monday for confirm the correct amounts. The next week I sent an email to ****** and supplied the invoices where I indeed paid the same amount and her refund was the same amount as myself. We did not hear back from ******. ISSUE Since January 2023, **** and I have been attempting to trying to get the refund for the airline tickets. As of today’s date, we have not received an email, not a return call from anyone at ATT or received our refund for the airline tickets as promised from the April 2023 call with Andrea. ATT is scheduled to leave on the Bali June 19, 2023, in less than a month, and we still do not have airline tickets and/or travel insurance, because they have not returned the airfare to allow us to purchase the airline tickets nor have, they contacted us to purchase the tickets for the June 2023 trip. The airline tickets would now be very expensive from when were diligently attempting to purchase them 6 months ago. I also feel that they have either spent the airline funds that was not earned and ATT and its staff has misrepresented that they would purchase the roundtrip airfare on our behalf and then that they would refund the airfare that was previously paid for airfare so we could purchase the tickets on our own. It is my belief that they have created an environment that would force a forfeit of the Bali trip with no recourse and then they would stake a claim to the $3,250.00 that was paid for the Bali trip and we would have no recourse as trip insurance could not be purchased without the purchase of the airline ticket(s). RESOLUTION At this point I am requesting ATT pay for the roundtrip airfare and/or difference in the airfare from Fresno (FAT) to Bali (BSP) back to Fresno (FAT). If ATT does not pay for the difference in airfare, then I am requesting all the money paid ($1,375.00 + $1950.00 = $3,250.00) be refunded so we wither book on our own or with another travel company. Thank you,

My Husband and I were seeking to book our annual getaway and lucked upon this company with great reviews and hosting weekly calls to take questions for upon coming trip. The trip we decided to do was Bali. We were initially informed as well as via email feedback that flight details would be shared in January 2023. We did not hear a thing and then proceeded to follow-up at least 5x. Three emails and at least 2 phone calls. There was no feedback to the phone calls. we have only a couple responses to emails stating details would come soon then we stopped hearing from them. Consistently, this company continued to draft money from our account without following through on their part of the bargain. We even emailed recently and join another pending trip call. There was no feedback to the email but on the call the host expressed details about the Bali trip would surface in 2 weeks... this was a month ago and we have yet to receive any emails about Bali nor feedback to our emails. This place is really a scam and it is really saddening that they will take advantage of people like this knowing we are relying on their expertise. We are disputing these charges as this does not seem to be legit at all. However we would like a full refund and want nothing more to do with this company.

My wife and I recently booked a trip with African American Travelers (AAT) to Bali for June 2023. Up to this point, we have paid a total of $2,833.38, which is $1,416.69 a piece. The price of the trip, not including the tickets, is a $200.00 deposit and 9 payments of $216.67. In September 2022, we attended a conference call with AAT and other prospective travelers. We were told by AAT that they would provide us with flight information, including ticket prices, departure dates, and location, by January 2023. After receiving that information, we could then either decide to fly with the group or book a flight ourselves and fly separately. As of April 9, 2023, we haven't received any information about flight arrangements. I have reached out to AAT via email in January, February and March. I've received email responses in January and February. In January, I was told that tickets would be finalized that month, but I never received any more communication. In February, I was told that the tickets were still not finalized and that if I wanted to book a flight myself, go ahead and do that and provide them with my flight information. I sent an email in March asking for lodging details to assist me in coordinating my flight but never received a response. I also left a voicemail on AAT's 1-800 number but never received a response. The month of June is almost here and the closer we get to the date of the trip, the higher the ticket prices will be. I would like more information and transparency about what is going on instead of what appears to be stalling tactics.
