I had a very poor experience with Safe Shelter Environmental. Based on air samples, they determined that I had mold that required remediation in my home. The quote I received was much higher than I expected - the job cost over $16,000 - but I was assured that they would thoroughly find all areas of mold, HEPA vacuum all areas, scrub and clean all areas, continue to HEPA vacuum to remove any remaining spores and finally encapsulate all areas to prevent any further growth. In reality, the areas were not HEPA vacuumed, the areas were not manually scrubbed or cleaned and there was no follow up to ensure that the mold had been removed. The attic areas were fogged with an antimicrobial cleaner (not hand scrubbed or vacuumed) and then sprayed with a white paint. The basement was fogged only. They didn't remove tiles from the suspended ceiling to fog in that area. When I questioned the amount of time spent vs the amount charged (approximately 12 hours of work) and also requested that there be follow up samples taken to prove that the mold was gone, the manager said that the work was done and immediately charged my credit card for the balance. I had to hire an outside inspector to take samples and prove that there was still mold, and that the mold counts were actually higher than before in the attic. Safe Shelter also charge me to clean duct work which upon inspection was not completed. I hired another mold remediation company to come in and actually do the work that was promised by Safe Shelter and they did it correctly for much less money. The business ethic seems to be to charge a lot of money and do as little work as possible unless the customer complains.

We had a very poor experience with Safe Shelter and would not recommend this company. We paid for mold remediation, but the workers who came to remove the moldy insulation in our crawlspace left a bunch of moldy, filthy insulation in the cracks that I had to remove myself. We watched one of the techs sit in his car the majority of the time while the other tech did most of the work. We paid to have a HEPA air scrubber run in the crawlspace during the remediation, but when I checked I discovered that they dropped off a cheap fan intended for water damage instead. Maybe hoping we wouldn't notice? They eventually dropped off a HEPA air scrubber when I complained, but this was a very careless and unprofessional mistake for a remediation company. We paid for radon remediation, but the work not only didn't fix our radon issue, it actually made it worse. Now we have to pay another radon remediation specialist to correct the issue. We've been told by an expert that Safe Shelter's approach to addressing our radon levels was completely ineffective and made no sense. It doesn't seem like this company understands radon remediation very well at all. These are only a few of the issues we experienced with Safe Shelter. We agreed to have an exterior access door installed to our crawlspace, and *** assured me that it would be a quality door that we could lock. Instead, they installed an access panel. When I complained, they turned the panel into a "door" by attaching magnets to the back of it, claiming it was impossible to install an actual door. Not surprisingly, this makeshift "door" fell off during our first storm. I wish I was making this up. It seems like this company is trying to be a **** of all trades, but so much of the work looks like it was done by workers who are not experts. And now we have to undo the damage. Whenever we complained, *** never apologized or took any real ownership. We feel very taken advantage of and will be very careful who we hire in the future.

This is the worst company ever. STAY AWAY. I had them come out to fix old doors that did not close. My house is 100 yrs. old. They advertised themselves as carpenters. They came out and there was a major language barrier, I speak English, they did not. They stated there were French doors that they could not fixed due to age, I said...that is fine, please do not do anything with them. I don't want them ruined. Well, they took them off the hinges and "tried" now they don't even touch when you try to close them. You could at least shut them before, now they are so tight the frame bows out. They ruined them. They had me purchase new hinges for all my doors since they were old a broken. They did not replace a set on my bathroom and said they would replace when the rest of the hinges arrived. It is now 3 weeks, 11 phone calls later, the work is STILL not done, NO call back at all. They charged my CC for the full amount even with the work not being done. I asked for an office manager 3 times, not one phone call back. They NEVER finished the work! But they took every penny of my money! Unprofessional, no customer service and they cant communicate because they do not speak English!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!
