5 starsI just got back from a Seine river cruise in ****** with a 2-day ***** extension. I couldn't have been more happy with our experience. Even with the challenges of touring during the Easter holiday, the staff went out of their way to make sure our needs were taken care of.Review fromTracy B

1 starMy family and I purchase a travel package to **** *****. 8day fly and drive from **** to ******* from *** which included three vehicles. Per the agent, she thought it was better if we just had one Van/SUV which was to accommodate 6 passengers and our luggage. The agent asked who would be the two drivers of the vehicle which was stated to her. At no time did the agent state we would be charged an additional driver's fee. Well, arrived in **** to pickup vehicle and was told that we would have to pay an additional drivers fee. This was a hot mess we contacted Gate 1 agent who informed me that the original agent that booked the reservation for us made a mistake and he would escalate the complaint. So many things went wrong with this rental experience and that's why we contacted Gate 1. The SUV/VAN differs from our US vehicles which means it is smaller in size. The vehicle we received could not comfortable fit all passengers and luggage and if we wanted a larger vehicle it would have cost $561 for the duration of our trip. After two hours of going back and forth with the rental agency and Gate 1 we just piled into the vehicle and left. My primary complaint is the fact that we were made to pay an additional $85 for extra drivers fee when we were suppose to have three free vehicles because each reservation came with a free vehicle. I am super disgusted and disappointed and feel taken advantage of by Gate 1 agents response which stated that they would not refund my $85. So many other problems with this trip and the vehicle itself was a hot mess and I just don't like being taken advantage of with hidden fees. Perhaps Gate 1 should travel to these countries and see what is really going on before selling misleading packages. Our vehicle was filthy dirty, scratched up all around the vehicle and made some weird noise when I drove it so 85% of the trip I just kept it parked.Review fromFrank F

1 starWe were to take off for ****** on Tuesday evening. I woke up Tues morning to a text that our flights were cancelled only to find out ****** air traffic controllers were on strike and now we were stuck in *** until Thursday evening. We lost the first 3 days of ************, we had to scramble to keep our hotel as we flew in the day before, we lost our premium economy and got rebooked for just regular seats. Had to fight to get our money back for the upgrade and then there was no room for an upgrade because they were trying to cram everyone on Thursday evenings flight. Spent the entire day going back and forth between the insurance we took out and Gate 1 only to be laughed at by the *** from ******. The insurance said they would pay up to a certain amount but that hardly even covered our hotel and food. Not to mention drinks, transportation, things to do so we were not stuck in a hotel going crazy for days. Then I tried to cancel so I can book something with another company only to be told I would loose my entire ***** we paid for this trip. Make it right Gate 1 and refund us for 3 days we are missing from our trip. This is our 3rd trip with them and we were in process of booking an african safari for our 10 yr anniversary next yr for almost 16k. No way do not ever use them, this is no vacation this is a nightmare and we work so much ***** hrs a week and we were looking forward to taking time off and de stress to only have to deal with phone call after phone and be stressed with this company. Do not ever travel with them or use them please!!!! Do not ever take out their scam artist trip insurance that doesnt help you.Review fromSusan B

5 starsThe first week of March we took a trip to *******, using Gate 1 Travel. It was super great. Out tour guide (Colm) was wonderful. We had the best coach driver (****). The explained the history and and towns. Nice walking tours in towns. Showed us nice places to visit. The Hotels were great. Food wonderful. Hope to go again in the future. 1 starBEWARE My daughter and I booked the Gate 1 small group Treasures of ******** and traveled in September. This was the worst travel experience I have ever encountered. Halfway through the trip half of the people developed Covid including my daughter. The guide told us that if the person had no fever and a *** cleared to continue travel those infected could continue with the trip wearing masks. She then changed her mind and said all with covid were off the tour despite complying with the original statement. We were left stranded without transportation to the next place and I had to hire a taxi to get us to **** from *** and had to set up private tours for the rest of the trip and pay for meals that were supposed to be included. Despite providing receipts to Gate 1 there was no offer of reimbursement for the half of the trip we were not allowed to complete. I was out over $1000 not counting not being able to see the rest of the sites . This is the most irresponsible company I have ever encountered. The tour guide was very nice but not very knowledgeable about the various destinations. You were on your own without a guide at most of the sites. She would read aloud about the sites from a piece a paper before we were dropped off. Several of the activities were a total waste of time.Review fromKathy G

1 starHORRIBLE COMPANY to deal with for cancellations... Due to a surgery I had to cancel my independent trip...ALL I GOT WAS A RUN AROUND About how they couldn't refund any of my money... I have taken MANY TRIPS WITH THIS COMPANY AND HAVE PAID DEARLY FOR THE SINGLE SUPPLEMENT CHARGES.. I WILL NEVER EVER TAKE ANOTHER TRIP WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN...I was told that I had to file through the insurance company Arch to get any money back .... Luckily I didn't pay the whole amount but was told anything over the 300.00 I would have to fight with the insurance company.. This Company has literally gone down hilll..Review fromSA P

1 starTerrible experience, these people just want to find a way to keep your money. They changed my connecting international flights and got me on separate flights from my group traveling with me. the notified me of the flight change and said it was the airline which was not. They then took my flight money and I had not only insurance paid with them but also refundable flights.The customer service people speak English but are very hard to understand and have absolutely no authority to be able to help you. Be very careful with cheap Tours from this company!!Review fromAna D

1 starI had a horrible experience with Gate 1 Travel on my latest trip to *******. Two of the hotels we stayed in had some kind of bugs. Once I came back Gate 1 Travel sent me a survey to fill out, which I did telling them about my experience. Since I didn't hear from them, I sent them two messages with pictures on separate occasions through their website raising my concerns about the cleanliness of these hotels and their mattresses. I have called twice, every time having to explain the bad experience I had to different people and voicing my frustration for their lack of caring. It's been eight weeks since I came back from the trip and not once I've gotten a phone call or an email from Gate 1 Travel. I wish I could post pictures so you could see the bugs. This is definitely the last time I Travel with Gate 1 Travel and will make sure I tell everyone I know, not to waste their money with them.
