1 starFirst, I was a personal investor for over 20 years and was happy with Vanguard. Then, the customer service changed and was so bad we withdrew every *****. As an example, for a jointly-titled account with my spouse, telephone representatives, including supervisors, repeatedly asked for my spouse's authorization/permission to speak with me regarding the account. It's a joint account - each party with equal authority under law. Second, I am an attorney that does administration of estates after someone's passing. Vanguard has been a total nightmare for our clients in obtaining values for inheritance tax purposes and claiming accounts, including requiring paperwork that is not required by PA law for a joint account, so that a joint account owner is not given access to funds that rightfully pass to the surviving joint owner upon death. Avoid the company at all cost. Take all funds out and run to another.Review fromMichael W

1 starHorrible. They do not care about you; they just want your money. DO NOT INVEST with Vanguard. They messed up my funds, made multiple errors, lied to me, blamed the *** (untrue), gave me false info, were extremely rude, promised to send me paperwork and did not, many times promised to call me back & did not, hung up on me many times. The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE Ive ever encountered in any business ever.Recently, they made my life nearly unlivable before they admitted & rectified their mistake. I spent 80+ hours on the phone, across every single business day for a full *6 weeks* talking with MANY different agents before they finally fixed it. Organization? They have none.I was passed from incompetent agent to incompetent agent, every day, sometimes spending *a full 8 hours on the phone with them*. Even the supervisors were useless. They had mistakenly placed a hold on my account due to *their own mistakes* (which they eventually admitted, 6 weeks later, after my literally dozens & dozens of calls). I spent SO much time on the phone with them that parts of my everyday life had to be put on hold so I could deal with these buffoons, and the entire mess caused me so much stress I had to go on medication.Said they couldnt tell *anything* specific about the mystery hold, not even the number of the form. Then suddenly, one day, boom! They could. Stringing me along. Things like this happened ALL THE TIME: theyd give me some info one day, & tell me the precise opposite a few days later. At one point they blamed it on Covid (!!!)Ridiculous: they also said once that I must call a specific person in the *********** between 6pm & 3am, which is obviously bullpuckey, as their support closes at 6.Exhausting to carve a path through their stonewalling, & as soon as they FINALLY admitted their mistake, I immediately removed all monies from their clutches, even though Id been investing with them for decades.STAY FAR, FAR AWAY, unless you enjoy weeks-long headaches.Review fromOllie r

1 starI am extremely disappointed with Vanguard Investments and their complete lack of professionalism when it comes to handling 401(k) transfers. What should have been a simple and straightforward process has turned into a nightmare spanning several months.Their customer service is beyond frustratingrepresentatives seem to have no clear understanding of their own processes, giving conflicting information at every turn. Each call results in a different answer, and rather than making the process easier, they make it unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming.Despite multiple follow-ups, my 401(k) transfer remains unresolved. Other financial institutions manage to process these requests efficiently, yet Vanguard drags its feet with no clear explanation. Their inability to handle a basic transaction is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about their competency. If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid Vanguard at all costs. Their poor customer service and lack of accountability make them one of the worst financial institutions I have ever dealt with. I urge the Better Business Bureau (BBB) to take note of these ongoing issues and hold Vanguard accountable for their negligence.Review fromShawn L

1 starThe **** hang up on me more than actually talk to me. They are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to understand. They will hang on you if you ask for a supervisor. They will begin telling you they can't hear you if you ask for a supervisor. Then they will disconnect the line. You may be prompted to take a survey. After answering the questions you will then get an "error message" and be disconnected.Review fromShawn L

1 star1. The "Low Cost" Myth:They tout "low-cost investing," but it's like a magician's trick - all smoke and mirrors. Once you're in, you find fees popping up like weeds after a rainstorm. It's a low-cost facade until you read the fine print.2. The Nonsensical Commissions:Vanguard's commissions are like hidden landmines in a battlefield. You think you're stepping into a safe investment, but then - BOOM - a fee you never saw coming. They charge you for the privilege of giving them your money.3. The "Investor-Owned" Lie:They claim to be "investor-owned," but it feels more like "investor-fleeced." You own shares, but those shares seem to shrink faster than an ice cube in the Sahara due to their hidden costs.4. The Account Fees - A Joke:Account maintenance fees? It's like paying rent for a plot in the financial graveyard where your returns go to die. They charge you to hold onto your money, which is a scam in itself.5. ****************** A Black Hole:Trying to get customer service is like calling into a void. When you finally get through, you're met with responses that are less helpful than a broken compass. They're experts in not solving your problems.6. The *** Fees - A Stealth Tax:Their ***s come with fees so sneaky, they make ninjas look loud. You invest in what you think is a cost-effective ***, only to find out there's a fee for every breath it takes.7. The *********** Fees - A Comedy:The mutual fund fees at Vanguard are like a stand-up comedy act where the punchline is your bank account. They've got so many layers of fees, you need a degree in archaeology to uncover them all.8. The Transparency - As Clear as Mud:Transparency at Vanguard is like looking through a frosted window on a foggy day. They talk about being open but hide their fees like they're protecting national secrets.9. The Investment Returns - A Mirage:The returns? They're like a desert mirage - you think you see water, but it's just more sand or in this case, more fees/commissionReview fromSuzanne J

1 starOMG I'm going to have a stroke. I have been trying to get set up as an Agent for my mother's account due to her dementia. This has been a fubar of the utmost degree. NOBODY knows what they are doing. Different people, different answers. Most recent development? They have looked at a form and removed my mom's information but did not add mine because the form is wrong (that they told me how to fill out.) So now NOBODY CAN ACCESS MY MOTHERS FUNDS! She needs them to pay her ************* fees in just a few more days but we cannot access her own money. I have never in my life had more poorly trained customer service agents. I have been on hold longer than my first marriage.
