Originally filed my taxes in March, it is now June and I still have not received a WORKING refund check from Capital Tax Collection Bureau. At first the initial return was sent back to me because they had changed their address, then they sent me a letter saying they reduced the amount that ** ***** said they owed me. Fair enough they might be right so I never bothered arguing with them. A week after I received this notice they sent me a check in the mail finally. Except it was defective, I tried cashing it at two different banks and ******* and it would not cash at any of them. So I left them a voicemail and they were quick to respond back saying there was a known issue with a certain batch of checks. A week later (today, the date of this complaint being filed) I received a replacement check. Except this check will not cash either, it has been three months dealing with these people and I still do not have a working check. All I want is working check of what I am owed that will actually cash. This has gone on for far too long. I'm an easy going person and mistakes happen so I never complained up to this point, but you do not send someone a defective check two different times. All I want is a working check

Approximately 4 months ago I received a letter from Capital Tax Collection Bureau based out of ***** County stating that i owed money for earned income taxes in 2021. After a lengthy month of speaking with 3 different people, they were willing to accept that the accounting firm who does my taxes (**** ******* ***** Accounting based out of Lewistown, Pa) did not make a mistake and that I owe nothing. In fact, I was owed money. Yet again I have received a letter stating that I owe $210 for earned income taxes in 2022 despite sending in my accountants determination that I owe nothing for the year of 2022. This was sent in a timely manner (early February). I can't help but wonder how many people they are sending these bogus bills to that are falling prey to what has obviously become a corrupt system. I desire for all false bills to be erased from there database and for this company to be audited. I have all tax papers ready for analysis to prove that this is the case.

Capital Tax Collection Bureau keeps telling us our local tax has not been filed. If their website actually worked we would gladly fill it out as the amount is 0.00 that we owe. Furthermore, now they have sent out letters from a DM in our county. Both parties my husband and my son, are not even in state. My son moved to California, and my husband works out of town. How am I supposed to file something we don't owe when clearly their website hasn't even been working?

    ******,

I am not sure what issues you had with our website? Therefore, I can not address them specifically.  On the front page of our website there is the options to file electronically.  Perhaps that is where you had issues.  I would like to know what issues you had with our system, so i can address them.  We do received thousands of local earned income tax returns electronically every year.

The local earned income tax return is an individual tax return not a joint return as filed with the state or federal governments.  The local earned income tax is filed with the municipality in which the taxpayer lived during the tax year not in which they work.  Most taxpayers to not live and work in the same municipality.  A local earned income tax return is required by law to be filed each year.  You can file the local return electronically at our website, or by a paper return.  The paper return along with the supporting documents can be mailed, faxed or emailed to our physical location for processing.  If the local earned income tax return is not received by April 15th, we do send a second request and a third request if necessary before with issue a citation for failure to file the local earned income tax return.  As with anything that is late, there are late charges assessed.  We can only go by the information received.  If the taxpayer does not change their address on timely manner, either directly or through employment information, we can only act on the information we are given.  This is why it is extremely important the a local earned income tax return is prepared and mailed to the tax collector timely.  This return will give us the proper information to make sure the municipalities receive the tax money to which they are entitled. If the tax money is not paid to the municipality, the return gives us the information needed to claim or bill for the missing tax money.

I would be glad to discuss your account in more detail with you.  Please call our office and I will review your account.  Together we can get this issue resolved.

    Sincerely

    Michelle S***********
