I learned about Riverview Chevrolet when I needed to go to a dealership for something for my car, a 2017 ***** Cruze. Immediately after that, this company started sending me letters about buying my car. I insisted multiple times that they wouldnt buy it and that it would be a waste of time, but after months of them insistent that they likely would, I brought my car in. They told me pretty quickly that they werent going to buy the car and I asked clearly to have my information removed from their system so this wouldnt happen again. I was assured that would be done. For the last year plus, this company has continued to send me things in the mail at least once a week, and keeps sending me offers to buy my vehicle. I havent had the vehicle for a few months now, but that hasnt stopped them.I moved and never gave them my new contact information, but they found my new address and continue to harass me. Ive asked multiple times for this to stop and was told each time it would, but it only seems to get worse. Ive received handwritten letters and printed emails that state they will not leave this alone. Theyve admitted to having meetings about me. I feel like I cant escape them. I just want it to stop.Initial Complaint

The dispute resolution that was filed online for claim #******* has been received and reviewed. The claim was authorized for the initial cause of failure to the head gasket and timing chains. After the repairs were completed the repair facility called back in to say that the repairs are completed but still has misfires on 2 cylinders and they think that the cylinder head is warped causing the misfires. Later that same day the repair facility called in to add to the claim that the engine is now locked up no longer running and the vehicle would need an engine. The cylinder head should have been checked for warpage while the engine was apart to see if there had been other failures that needed to be addressed and this was not done. Checking for warpage during a head gasket replacement is standard practice. The repair facility put the cylinder head back on the engine and finished the repair, leading to the 2 calls stating that the engine is running but still has issues and then later stating the engine is now locked up.Business Response

The customer brought the vehicle in question to us to have it serviced because of an overheating issue as well as having the "check engine" light on. Our technician diagnosed the vehicle and found that the head gasket was leaking which was letting coolant into the combustion chamber. That was what was causing the original overheating concern and subsequently causing the check engine light because the spark plugs were fouling from the coolant that was being burnt up in the combustion process. The vehicle showed very obvious signs of overheating. We also found that the timing chain guards were broken as we were in the disassembly and diagnosis process. At that time, our service advisor reached out to the customer's extended service contract company. We gave them the three possible options as far as repairing the vehicle went and provided pictures to substantiate our diagnosis as well as gave them our recommendation to replace the engine. The absolute minimum repair would have been to replace the head gaskets and timing chains which we advised may not rectify the situation. The next option would be to replace the cylinder heads in case they were warped from overheating as well as the head gaskets and timing chains. The third option would have been to replace the entire engine. The extended service contract company decided that they would only authorize replacing the head gaskets and timing chains. We advised the customer as to their decision as well as the cost of parts that they wouldn't cover which the customer would have been responsible for. The customer gave us verbal authorization to continue with replacing the head gaskets and timing chains. We ordered parts to repair it and followed through with the repair. Once the head gaskets and timing chains were replaced, our technician attempted to test drive the vehicle and found that the vehicle was still running rough. The customer came in to talk about the situation on Friday, July 7th. The service manager as well as the service advisor were not working that day so I spoke to the customer. I had already had some awareness of the situation but confirmed the timeline of events with the technician and other service advisors before speaking in depth about it with the customer. I informed the customer that we had tried to advocate on her behalf with the extended service contract company but ultimately they were the ones that decided what repairs they would cover. Their stance was that the customer overheated the vehicle repeatedly to get to the point it was at when we first diagnosed it and that it was due to her neglect in having it serviced earlier.Customer Answer

ZERO stars should be available for criminal enterprises like this one. I paid $1600+ a few days before Christmas to fix an oil leak. This presumably included pressure testing, etc, to find the leak. EIGHT DAYS LATER, the car has an oil leak STILL. The service manager told me it would not be covered, because "It must not have been leaking from there" EIGHT DAYS PRIOR !!!! So, warranty on repairs is non-existent. This matters when buying a POS American car that will only give the worst warranty in the business (3/36). PLUS, Chevy "simply could not help" because all locations are owned independently. Nice cop-out on their end, too. After 4 days, still no further word from the repair fraud manager !!!!!Customer Answer

Quick update - I was quoted > 5,000 for the new set of repairs. They had the car for over a week, but did not test drive it for the first 6 days. As soon as they drove it, it POURED oil out of the head gasket. Now, a few weeks after paying them 1,600 to fix one oil leak, they watn another exorbitant amount.
If ypou do not believe that they are over-charging me, call any Chevy dealer in teh area and getb a price on a head gasket job. The mechanics that I did talk to said the price is exorbitant, presumably because I had the audacity to engage BBB to try and resolve the situation.
When is the 10-day response period over ? Have they responded yet ?
Thanks,

This letter is in response to ID 18710224. The customer came in originally with an engine oil leak concern
on their 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. After a visual inspection that confirmed the customers concern, we cleaned the
excess oil from off the engine. We then performed an oil leak dye test and determined that the high pressure oil pump
was leaking. The customer was given an estimate to replace the pump to which he agreed. We ordered the pump
and subsequently installed it.
The customer then returned approximately two weeks later stating that the oil leak was still persisting. We
visually inspected the vehicle to verify the concern at that time. We then cleaned the oil from the engine again and
added dye to be able to determine where the leak could be coming from. We did run the vehicle multiple times as
well as driving it to get the dye through the system. After multiple attempts to verify the location of the leak, we
determined that the head gasket was leaking. The technician that was working on the vehicle then made the
recommendation to replace the gasket as well as possibly replacing the cylinder head. It is his opinion that the cylinder
head may be either warped or cracked which would necessitate further repairs or replacement. The service advisor
did advise the customer of the cost of the repairs with the cost of a worst case scenario. Since that time the customer
has picked up the vehicle and wasn't charged for any further diagnosis or supplies. Please feel free to reach out with
any other questions or concerns relating to this matter.
