Jordan Tax Service collects the Tax payments for Avalon, **. There is a fee to pay with a credit or debit card on their site, so I mail my tax payments. In 2024, I was on a 3-payment plan for my ************************* Taxes. The 2nd payment took weeks to clear my bank, so I called Jordan to see if they received it (out of concern that the check got lost), & they said they were understaffed and could not look through the pile of mail to tell me. Eventually, my payment cleared my bank. The 3rd payment ($709.96) was due in December 2024. I mailed this payment somewhere around the 3rd week of December. Around the beginning of February I called Jordan Tax Service (it did not clear my bank again), they claimed they never received my payment and referred me to their Attorney to collect it. The Attorney Firm is ******* and Price. I called them, they said I owed this payment and tacked on late fees and penalties. In the meantime, I called ****************************************** to complain, I was told I needed proof of payment. I mailed this payment with a stamped envelope so I had no "proof". So I paid ******* and Price $709.96 plus an additional $182.30 in penalties and online payment fees (this time I paid online). Well, over the weekend the payment I mailed to Jordan in December cleared my bank on March 21st (3 months later). So now I paid my $709.96 tax payment twice with $182.30 in fees. I emailed ******* and Price, *************************, and ************** to let them know. ********* and ************** have not responded & ******* and Price said that I would get the original payment refunded when Jordan sends them the payment. I told them I wanted all the fees refunded since I mailed my payment in December & the envelope would have been post marked in December. ***** has responded to this. I do not keep and extra $710 in my bank account and am short now to pay my bills. I am not the only person having problems with Jordan I found out.Initial Complaint

*** had the same bank account & paid *** every year with online banking, the receipt for my payments has either my *********** number or my sewage account number. Earlier this year I sent in money for my taxes through online bill pay of $359.37 twice & *** sent $218 to the sewage & paid my real estate taxes with it, instead of leaving it there for my school tax bill that was sent a few weeks later. In total, I sent ********** my online banking $1667.48 in 2024. I owed *******. Which means I overpaid them $118.94 if they wouldve let my money stay in that account instead of putting it to the sewage bill no issues would be occurring JTS -collects real estate and school taxes for my borough, but also sewage. I sent *** $1300 in 2024 in payments of ($200,$200,$400,$500) for sewage, none of which is the exact amount owed. Thats the reason why they said they sent money to the sewage bill because it wasnt the exact amount I owed They leave the money there & dont send any to the tax account if I overpay the sewage. Im not exactly sure what my sewage bill was for 2024 only that I paid those amounts *** returned a payment of $230 I sent for my taxes 11/27 /24. They return $230 on 2/24/2025 but then sent into collections/to a lawyer to collect $330 (plus fees)I have called several times for the last 10 days, only once have I reached someone (**** Aiserman) and he directed me to his supervisor. No one has yet to return my phone calls, even though I call and say that Im very upset that I have very good credit and try and explain whats going on here. I called to my borough to complain to them and they told me that *** told them I made payments of 200 and 200 and something else which were payments for my sewage I do have the emails and receipts from my bank account. **** also told me in the email that all of the payments are sent to the sewage side and then dispersed from there. Which maybe is the companies problem in the first place?Customer Answer

Jordan Tax Services is the sole provider for stormwater, sewage, and trash services in our borough, leaving residents with no alternative. We are currently dealing with two serious issues.1. **********: We paid the 2024 stormwater fee of $96 on 1/31/2024 and received confirmation. On 1/24/2025, we were notified that this bill was allegedly unpaid, with legal action and a lien on our home threatened if we dont pay $158.01 by 2/24/2025. Our account only shows the 2025 bill, not the 2024 payment, which is documented and confirmed on our end.2. Sewage: Jordan Tax canceled our autopay without notice, resulting in a $300 overdue bill. After calling customer **********************, I paid $299.31 on 12/19/2024 via their ACI website. The payment cleared our bank, but it hasnt been applied to our account, resulting in late fees, interest, and continued threats of liens. Attempts to resolve this through calls, emails, and letters with proof of payment have gone unanswered.Dozens of other residents report similar issues, with extra fees and threats forcing compliance. This companys actions are unethical and potentially criminal. Please investigate.Initial Complaint

I am being charged undo interest and a ***** EXP." fee totaling $87.45 that are unwarranted. I am being threated with a lien on my home if I do not pay a total of $487.45 for WM Garbage Service in *********************, **. My request is that the interest amount be removed along with the ***** EXP" fee. I am fine paying my responsibility of $400 for garbage collection. The document I received the week of 12/13 was the FIRST notification I have received about this matter. I called the office on 12/13 and was told bills were sent out asking for payment. I reviewed my **** Informed delivery and did not see anything relating to Jordan Tax Service or WM or ****** Township Garbage collection. I asked Jordan Tax service to provide me with copies or the bill that was sent out and proof of delivery and they were not able to do so.Customer Answer

I received this today from Jordan Tax Service. While this resolves my personal issue, I believe this is much more widespread. I am hoping documenting this via ticket will help show the scope of the issues with this service.
Good morning! I am so sorry for the inconvenience. I did notice we had the wrong zip code for your mailing address. If you will just pay the face of $400.00, the fees will be removed. I have corrected your mailing address to Venetia 15367

My complaint is regarding Jordan Tax Service inability to post payments to accounts within a timely manner. This is the second time I have been directly impacted with no resolution or responses from JTS. I received a cutoff notice/lien letter even though I had a payment arrangement. Nonetheless I called them and made my payment in full on 11/25. I kept them on the line until they saw I made the payment w my card. 2 weeks later I received a bill dated after the payment date of 11/25 showing the full balance and penalties. When I called *** they said they had not yet posted it on their side even though the payment came out of my card account on 11/25. I pleaded to know when the payment would post and they said when ever they get the check from the cc company??? I asked to speak with a manager and was hung up on and when I called back the phone was not answered. I want a refund of penalties charged to me after my account was paid in full. It is wrong for there to be such a delay in posting a payment (14 days and counting). This is the 2nd time in a couple of months this happened. The first time I had a payment arrangement and it was canceled because *** took 19 days to post a payment made on their website. When I tried to complain I was directed to email ***** the manager at their generic email address. After multiple email attempts she never replied. I want to know if I pay on the *** website my payment is posted within a day.Business Response

The account has been credited $13.36 for the additional fees charged from the credit card payment date. Please consider autopay to have your payments promptly deducted and posted on the payment date to your account. You can also make a one time payment on your account with no fee if you login to your account set up at - ******************************************************************Initial Complaint

I have an overdue sewage bill. I am a single mom just recently and trying to get my bills on track i got a notice for shut off for the end of sept and made a payment but was told i could not make any payment arrangements and that there was no assistance available. I also can not get anyone to give me an accurate account balance, and one of my payments was missing.Business Response

i have reviewed your account and do not see any comments about the call you made. We do accept payments as you have been making them sporadically since January, 2024 rather than paying the amount of the actual bill.
The payment for $200.00 that was made on 9/11/2024 was returned by the bank. There was another $200.00 payment made on 9/18/2024. Maybe it would be easier for you to make smaller monthly payments rather that a few larger payments.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have email communication with someone at Jordan tax and I also have proof of a payment thats definitely posted on my end but not on my account. One for 150 and the $200 has been taken out again and is out of my bank and no returned so why is that not showing up my on my account. I am not getting a true balance due and have a shut off notice that I can't accurately resolve.

The Sewage bill is way too high. I need help investigating why I am paying this much. The July portion of $176 was outstanding, but even that seems outrageous. Why would one month of service be that much? Then, I was away from most of August! Why is my August bill so high?Business Response

The lack of this company sending me proper billing documentation through email or mail. I have tried for over a year now to provide correct information so that I can be notified about my taxes. At this point, I have received a penalty for every bill. I would like to file a case for this company to be audited because I believe they have a financial incentive to make more money through penalties.Initial Complaint

My mortgage company (Truist/Corelogic) sent Jordan Tax Service an escrow check to pay for my 2022 and 2023 ******* Borough taxes because my property was reassessed. The ***** Tracking number is ************ and was delivered on 5-23-24. The package was signed for by ************************* at Jordan Tax Service. However, ******* in the delinquent tax department says that my payment still has not been received and paid for in 2022 and 2023. The amount that was sent was $1,001.60 that covered both years. If the check and was delivered and signed for, then why are my taxes still showing delinquent for 2022 and 2023?Block/Lot: 40-P-200Initial Complaint

I didn't realize my company withheld 3% for local tax, my local tax should be 1% when I completed my income tax return for 2023 back in April. Due to this overpayment, I just discovered I went to the downtown office to file 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 on May 23rd of 2024. I was told by a woman at the downtown office I had already filed 2020 and 2021. She took my returns for 2022 and 2023 and promptly issued me the refunds due. Thank you for that! She informed me that I filed 2020 and 2021 and I would need to contact 'John' at ext 173 either at the McMurry or Bethel Park Office. I have called and left a message on two occasions now and yet to have heard back from John. The name stated at that extension on the voicemail is John, so I believe I contacted the correct person. I also sent an electronic message with these details on May 23rd, 2024. I am 85 years old, and I just don't remember if I deposited the checks or not. I honestly don't believe I did, because if I did, I would have contacted the payroll department and had them fix the withholding error as they were withholding 3% instead of the 1% which is the EIT for Ingram borough, which is where I reside. I would like contacted either my email, which is on my returns, ***************** My son's email: ************************* or at my home phone *************. Its been almost two weeks now and heard nothing back. I don't know what the turnaround times for these issues are so if I am being impatient or unrealistic I do apologize for that. But a simple reply acknowledging my messages and that the issue is being researched shouldn't be too much to ask for. Thank you BBB for helping me in resolving this issue!Business Response
