1 starAmbetter is extremely incompetent in many areas. They're unable to provide simple forms, they refuse to send forms and make you print them out yourself. Ambetter also has very limited technology, forcing members to deal with woefully inadequate customer service staff, and even snail mail due to their lack of computer software that would enable E signatures. As for my latest personal experience, when requesting CPT code pricing for our plan, I was told we would need an authorization form since I was calling about my husband. We printed the form and mailed it, because that was the only option. We waited 3 weeks and they still didn't have it on file. When I asked for management, they let me hold for 43 minutes before coming back on and still not providing a manager to speak with, they then HUNG UP on me when I asked why I had to call back a 3rd time(they stated that they wouldn't give me the email address until the very moment that I could email the authorization form...that I had to reprint myself)! Absolute incompetent workers and zero customer service. Run, don't walk, to the next insurer!!Review fromNicole B

1 starThis company's substandard service prompted us to switch insurers after our first year. Despite a decent rewards program and the consistent composure of most customer reps, numerous issues overshadowed any positives. My overall customer service interactions were frustrating, with administrative hurdles hindering my attempts to act on behalf of my husband, the primary subscriber. AUTO PAY ENROLLMENT WARNING! Absolutely be sure to discontinue your autopay enrollment as soon as you attempt to cancel your plan. Enrolling in the AutoPay system could very easily result in significant financial consequences if not handled carefully, especially during set up and cancellation. Inadequate communication regarding cancellation led to unnecessary frustration. Despite disenrolling for 2024, Ambetter only received and/or processed the termination notice for January from Pennie PA Health Marketplace. We received termination and cancellation notices from Ambetter on 12/26/23, both stating coverage until 1/31/24, with no mention of February 2024. We also received a disenrollment notification from Pennie indicating a coverage end date of 1/31/24. Consequently, we were under the impression that our membership with Ambetter was successfully canceled as of 1/31/24. However, we received new ID cards and a bill for February from Ambetter in the mail. Upon speaking with Ambetter's escalation team on 2/6, they initiated a request for cancellation, leaving our coverage termination pending Ambetter’s receipt of the disenrollment notice from Pennie. Our HMO plan fell short of expectations. While it partially covered preventive and emergency care, navigating billing and ensuring proper coverage proved cumbersome. Ambetter’s website further compounded our dissatisfaction, lacking user-friendliness and requiring excessive effort to locate essential information or to attempt complete tasks. Overall, our experience was overwhelmingly negative, prompting the switch to a more reliable provider.Review fromMe N

1 starLiars. Customer service is non existent. Agents are based out of the Philippines so it’s difficult to understand them. They list Drs on their website that either never heard of ambetter or don’t take ambetter. Do not take this insurance. It’s not insurance. Horrible and they should be shut downReview fromTy R

1 starOn September 21, I went onto the Ambetter website on my phone to make a payment. I had a balance due a $418 because to be honest some months I have to choose between food or pay my medical. So I had a little extra money and I decided to go on there and pay $100 towards the balance, when I logged on it said that the balance was due and if I wanted to pay make a payment, as I selected ”other” a window popped up and said “thank you for your payment” it took the whole $418, which was all the money that I had left in my account and I hadn’t gone to the grocery and that was what we had left for the last the next two weeks. I called Ambetter immediately and told them that their system glitched because it didn’t have me review the payment, change the payment method, or confirm the payment, it just took the money and said thank you for your payment. I also asked them to put a hold on any insurance transactions because I can’t afford to make that bigger payment and I needed my money back. They said they couldn’t do anything to contact the bank and the bank wouldn’t do anything anyway but I did contact the bank and I called them back I said the bank cannot do anything and they said well I can get a refund but it will take a month. Ironically I ended up in hospital that day because I was having stroke-like symptoms. So I gave them a month the next month I called, they kept insisting they can’t do a refund because they don’t know if the system really glitched. I kept calling. Each agent kept saying they would put in a refund request but can’t guarantee it. Then I spoke to someone in corporate in November who said well they can’t prove that the system glitched and they paid claims already so they’re not going to refund me my money because I owed them. I have written to NBC responds hoping for some help and was advised to write to BBB as well for an investigation. I had to borrow money to get groceries and have gas. Ambetter only cares about money not people.Review fromLeanne M

1 starSelected this Health Insurance via marketplace because it said one of my doctors was covered. When I went to make my appointment, the doctors office told me they do not accept Ambetter. It's fraud...I wasn't able to go to that doctor and I am paying a lot of money each month for bogus Insurance...if I could give them a zero, I would!Review fromLouis M

1 starI called to cancel my account and they told me it was canceled 3 different times all of which were a lie. They continued to charge my card upon telling me "the account was canceled" after 6 hours of arguing on the phone. They still to this day are attempting to charge me do I had to block their account through my bank. This was so bad that I was convinced that they were a bunch of scammers and not actually a health insurance company. They scammed me out of money and the "customer service" was just some lady who repeated the phrase "one moment please" for hours on end. They should be in jail, I reported them to the FBI for fraudulently taking money out of my account and very purposely misleading me to believing that my plan was canceled 3 different times. Go with ambetter if you don't mind being scammed out of your money by people on the other side of the planet!Review fromTy R

1 starHorrible service and misleading. I have been on a medication for 12 years. My doctor put in prior authorizations and they won’t approve it because their pharmacist (not doctor) claims I don’t need it and I need to be on another medication. So I should put my body through trauma by trying a new medication when they have the ability to approve the one that agrees with my body. They don't give a damn about patients they only care about minimizing what they incur.Review fromMari G

1 starAbsolutely abysmal, incompetent customer service, from representatives up through the “escalation” team. I have spent hours on the phone with them attempting to receive my 2021 Affordable Act rebate. They keep insisting that they do not have my current address despite having sent numerous correspondences to the correct address. I have been told since October, 2022 that my check was being processed. I cannot be the only firmer insured experiencing this.Review fromLaura C

1 starI tried contacting the credentialing number. Useless I tell you useless. The credentialing number has nothing to do with credentialing. Then I got transferred. The person answered the phone sounded like he was not American. He didn't know what to do or what I was talking about. He sounded confused. There is not credentialing department. There aren't any providers other than hospitals that accept this insurance. Don't sign up because it is useless.
