This is a long sad story. Purchased a used fuel tank for a Kia from Novak Auto Parts. After installing it, it was discovered that it leaked at the seam. Contacted Novak who shipped a replacement tank that was installed; OK, no leak. Next we received a bill from Novak for the second tank. After calling Novak and explaining that the second tank was to replace the leaking first tank that we previously paid for, we were told that we had to return the defective tank. Novak is over thirty miles from us and a two hour round trip. Novak refused to have their truck pick up the tank when they were in the area, telling us that we needed to order some parts from them or deliver the tank to them. We next received a "Past Due" notice, another phone call to Novak and we are again told it is our responsibility to return the defective tank; that is Novaks policy. I drove the hour to Novak and returned the tank, and when I explained that I felt it was poor treatment to demand we personally return a leaking fuel tank I was told that we were supposed to have the leaking tank removed from the vehicle for them to exchange it with the replacement tank. The leaking tank in the vehicle was dripping gasoline on our shop floor and tying up a lift, so we pulled it outside in our lot to await the replacement tank. Days later the tank arrived and we replaced the first leaking tank. We were never told that we had to have the leaking tank removed and ready for pick-up when the replacement tank was delivered. By this time the conversation was becoming heated, four men appeared at the counter and the "boss" threatened to call the police. I encouraged him to call the police. I presented him with a bill for labor to change the defective tank and left. I don't expect to be paid, just a "past due" mark for Novak Auto Parts. P.S.: Customer had vehicle ~ two weeks and tank started to leak again. This was the second tank from Novak.
