    Re: Complaint ID ********; ****** *****

    Dear BBB:
This letter is to rebut *** ****** *****’s complaints. We as a company strive very hard to produce the best product and service for our customers. We do however understand that we can’t please everyone.
*** ****** ***** contracted us to do some work on his engine block. The said engine block is a part of the engine and not the complete package. This job required us to machine a used stock 1970’s engine block. Not in any way ever designed for racing. (However, *** ***** did plan on using the engine block for a race application and ignored our professional opinion to not do so). Job was completed to his satisfaction, and paid in full. Note: Engine was reassembled by the customer, not done professionally by us.
Several years has past and once again *** ***** took it upon himself to upgrade somethings in his engine. These upgrades did not last very long and the engine failed. *** ***** again disassembled the engine himself and brought some components (Cylinder Heads) to us to be fixed. We fixed the heads to *** *****’s satisfaction, and the job was again paid in full. Note: Engine was reassembled by the customer, not done professionally by us.
A short time has passed and the engine failed again. Keeping in mind that at no point have we worked on this engine. However *** ***** realized that working on this engine was beyond his capabilities and his knowledge, so he did bring the engine to us. *** ***** supplied all of the parts for the repair, and wanted to do the job as in expensive as possible. Against our professional opinion to replace all the parts necessary for this rebuild *** ***** just had us utilize the parts that he purchased. We completed the job and during delivery *** ***** complained about the price that had previously been quoted and approved. We did further discuss the price and decided to alter the price to better fit *** *****’s budget.
A short time has passed and *** ***** was still having some trouble with the engine, so he brought it back to us again for a diagnosis. We determined that the head gaskets had failed which against our recommendation to replace in the rebuild was not one of the items that *** ***** wanted to spend the money on, so the old ones were re-used. We had one of our tech’s work on this engine for over 4 hours and did not charge *** ***** anything for our time. *** ***** demanded that we change the gaskets free of charge. We decided to help Mr. Scott and change the gaskets at no cost to him. This work again required a tech’s time for over 10 hours’ worth of work. Free of charge to *** *****. As you can clearly see we are trying to help this gentleman the best that we can.
A short time has passed and *** ***** is still complaining of trouble with this engine. He is now demanding that we buy him new components to fix the engine. The engine was never brought back to us for any diagnosis.
We have been in business for over 30 years and are very professional about what we do. We bend over backwards for our customers, and *** ***** was no exception. We will gladly look over and diagnosis *** ***** engine however we will need the whole engine and not just parts of the engine. Once we determine the problem with the engine *** ***** will receive a bill for our time and a quote to fix the engine. This is a race engine and at no time was any warranty ever expressed.

    Sincerely,
    Philadelphia Racing Engines

    Re: Complaint ID ********; ****** *****
    Dear BBB:
We absolutely understand and acknowledge *** ****** *****’s concerns about his engine. We have tried to rectify these issue on numerous occasions at no cost to *** *****, however we can’t control what happens to the engine once it leaves our facility. We are the engine building, and not the installer, or the tuner. These things occur after it leaves our hands. As I mentioned previously we will gladly look over and diagnosis *** *****’s engine, however we will need the whole engine and not just parts of the engine. Once we determine the problem with the engine *** ***** will receive a bill for our time and a quote to fix the engine. This is a race engine and at no time was any warranty ever expressed.

    Sincerely,
    Philadelphia Racing Engines
