I paid *********************************************** to handle my bankruptcy. I did everything I was supposed to and they never finished it. The last thing I was supposed to do was take an online course, I did that and then was told that I didn't finish it before the case was closed which the date they said the case was closed was before I received the email for the course. I tried to contact *********************************************** multiple times and they haven't returned my phone calls so I contacted another bankruptcy lawyer and they looked into it and my case is still open. I would like this complaint to be resolved and my bankruptcy case to finally be closed.

My problem is that my attorney Chris charged me hundreds of dollars in fees without doing any work. I paid $1100 in early September after my free initial consultation. On Sept 18th 2023 I asked for a refund, not on October 15th as they claim. On September 18th I asked Chris directly for a refund. Chris said fine and said he would have my money back that week - very easy. So I call back the next week when the money did not arrive. At that time, much to my disappointment, I was told by the secretary that my refund would take 4-6 weeks to be returned to me. There was no mention of any work done at this time. I wait 4 weeks, and then I call on October 18th to ask AGAIN about my money. They said ok we will get it to you. Again, no mention of work done. A check arrives, and it's for $320 with a bunch of itemized fees taken out. And, it misrepresents that I called on September 18th, saying I asked for a refund on October 18th! | And, the refund letter claims that all this work was done on September 14th and 15th! That just so happens to be a business day before I called to request my refund originally. I do not believe any work was done. From what I can discern from the itemized bill, these supposed hours of work consisted of opening a file and searches and valuations. I never received any of these files, and I do not know what searches and valuations are, since they did not provide any to me. I have no record of any electronic file being opened for me. My issue is that I never heard from anyone in 6 phone calls to demand my money back that ANY work was done. Nor did I see any of this so-called work - there is no record or work product available to ME. I'm supposed to take their word for it that $780 was spent on entering records? I did not even get a fee letter as they claim. This behavior by this firm is egregious, especially given that their clientele is COMING TO THEM FOR BANKRUPTCY. That $1100 was the last of my savings, and these guys took it.

I filed for bankrupty. The lawyer said they would handled EVERYTHING involved. I paid him over $1,800. They took my information. I clearly told them I wanted to keep my car loan. I sent them the reaffirmation agreement from my car company, filled out. They never replied me. I assumed it was taken care of, since they were the professionals and they never reached out to me about a problem. I paid over $1,800 for them to professionally and accurately handle this. My case settled and was completed. I reached out to my auto loan company. They stated they never received the form. I emailed Ian about this. He dismissed me, stated my case was closed, the car company never sent them the legal document (against the law but likely a lie documented on electronic communication) and it wasn't his problem. I asked what I could do. He never replied. Over a week later, I emailed his boss with what happened, how I emailed his employee with the completed document before my case closed and how no one reached out to me to indicate there was an issue and that Ian's response is unprofessional and inappropriate. It's been 5 days with no reply. I emailed the lawyer and every lawyer in his firm about this issue with the title legal liability, and that I would be leaving a 1 star review, contacting the BBB and reaching out to anyone that will listen until this issue is resolved. I have a 2023 Kia soul with a current loan that I've never been late on. I can't access my account because of the bankruptcy. I've been given no instructions on how to proceed and his firm has fundamentally not done their job and lied via email. They are legally liable. I paid for a service I didn't receive. As I told them, if I wanted it to done wrong, I'd have done it myself and saved 1,800. They should be disbarred, at this point. I want my loan reaffirmed, as I asked and as electronic documents have stated. This is unacceptable.

When a bankruptcy is filed personal responsibility on your vehicle loan is forgiven.  That means that the lender retains a lien on the vehicle title and can repossess the vehicle if you fall behind in payments, but if that happens and the vehicle is sold at auction for less than what you owe, you are not responsible for repaying the remaining balance on the loan.  However, if you stay current on the
       loan you keep the vehicle.

Reaffirmation agreements reimpose personal tinancial liability.  The purpose of the bankruptcy is a fresh start.  Unless the terms in a reaffirmation are giving a benefit to a client they are denied.  The interest could be reduced, the term of the loan altered,  balance decrease.  Some change that benefits the client.  The issue of future credit of that loan is not enough of a benefit to allow signing them.  To encourage assigning of a reaffirmation agreement would be unacceptable as that would violate the fresh start the bankruptcy provides.
