Petro services did a home call to a property I own in **********, Not only did they not fix the zone that was not working in my cottage, they screwed up the entire heating system in less than a thirty minute call and now my tenant, (who we informed the company has health issues), is sitting in a 50 degree house with no response from Petro other than we will try to get to it before the holidays. There is no one to talk to other than a call center that does not care whether you have a problem or not. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!Review from Richard M

You can't give zero star....Another price gouging complaint.Charged over $4.70/gallon on an automatic delivery (no contract) when everyone else is at $3.20.We're long time clients....Had the audacity to offer $4.90ish for one year 2025 contract, but since we are great clients they offered $4.70.... I an contracting at $3.20 with someone else.Maintenance program $780. The new company $340.00 These are thieves, not even price gougers.Buh bye!Review from Haven J

Would give 0 stars Called to obtain furnace tune-up service for new gas furnace that was installed within 2 years by ********* (which was since bought out by Petro). Given price quote for furnace tune-up and options for service contract - which we discussed was not needed at the time, only a tune-up. Scheduled 4 weeks out for service. On day of service, technician arrived and I watched the entire tune-up process performed. Filter was dirty, but technician did not have a replacement on hand - I gave him the new filter from a box we had on hand. Besides some basic cleaning, safety tests, and gas level checks - furnace was in great condition and needed nothing else. Technician provided an invoice for services - the amount quoted over the phone - and a check was provided to him the same day. Fast forward 12 days - receive an invoice in the mail for the cost of the tune-up and an additional diagnostic fee which tacks on $100 more dollars to the service. Bank account statement checks out that the check cleared the same day the invoice was dated for - nothing on the invoice confirms that the check was provided at time of service. I call to discuss the statement and I'm told that the fee is for a part that was exchanged at the time of service - I indicate no such incident occurred. I complain that I was never provided a cost for a diagnostic fee at the time of the phone call or at the time the technician provided me an invoice. I'm told that the fee is now for the cost of the technician walking through the door - why was this not indicated in the two occurrences that I questioned and paid the cost of services? I have to argue to confirm that the check was confirmed received by the company and now have to wait for a call back from 'services' over the disputed diagnostic fee. Unbelievable and would not recommend this company to ANYONE.Review from Ben D

Horrible. Little to no communication. Almost 0 service notes left by tech. the main issue is that there was no follow up plan. - tech turned off the boiler and labeled it unsafe. this turned into a carbon monoxide issue and now a boiler that actual doesnt work. how are you still in business?Petro Home Services Response

We believe this review was left by a tenant, while we've been working with the landlord. We are replacing the boiler today due to the boiler leaking. We had a service call where the fire dept. was called out and we shut the unit down until the following morning when it could be cleaned properly. At the return visit we found the boiler to be leaking and we red tagged the unit.Review from Maria M

Basically 1 of the few companies that offer heating oil services and their per gallon never drops to national averages. Way to expensive and do not ger their services. COD oil deliveries are more than $1.00+ cheaper than Petro. Do your research as I did and dont pay these people a fortune every winter. 150 gallon could be estimated at mid $400 with other companies but with Petro it will cost you north of $600 if you dont have a cap plan set up way before the pandemic year.Review from Tracey G

This company constantly price gouges. I called during the summer to complain my oil cost .50 or more a gallon then my neighbors recently paid for oil. They explained prices fluctuate daily. I just received oil again today in which they charged me $5.269 a gallon. I call a local oil company and they said their current rate was $3.69 a gallon.Review from Jason A

Petro home services was good all the way through with services to my boiler and oil needs. My problem was I was on a 1 year contract and at a set price of $388.00 a month. They never explained to me that I would have a bill at the end of the year of over 5,000.00 dollars. They told me no matter the amount of oil I used. My price would remain the same. Nothing more and and nothing less.. my disappointment comes from them deceiving me. Not telling e the details of a smart pay budget plan. Now I'm seeking support from the BBB.Review from Nadiene C

If i could give this less than one star i would! This company is price gouging at its finest all other companies in the area have oil for 3.28 per gallon amd they are delivering at 5.62 a gallon then threaten a $250 cancellation fee if you dont take delivery! Awful humans! Ive been a loyal custoner for 13 years and just now realized loyalty gets you nowhere in life! This is awful that in these times they are taking advantage of people! Please do not use this business ever save yourself the money! Ive nevr ever paid more than $4 a gallon with them in 13 years and now they really screwed me this year with the volatility of the market when i signed contract byt i was promised lowest delivery price of the day they delivered mot expecting them to be $3 more per gallon than all other companies near me! Then. I call and complain and am slapped in face with $40 credit! When i could have saved hundreds with another compnay! And all they had was bs excuses! The oil all comes from the same countries and suppliers so i know you arent paying thta much more than other companies your just money hungry crooks! Taking advantage of hardworking people who can use every penny they can save! Awful and disgusting humans working at this place with no compassion! I never had a bad thing to say until now when i realized im being royally screwed! Then to be threatened with $250 cancellation if i refuse next delivery get out of here! Im finding where i report price gouging too in my area an reporting it! Just horrible service all around! No more loyalty hereReview from A R

Worst company if you need customer service. You wait up to an hour to talk to anyone on the phone. Their payment posting is very inaccurate. They don't listen to their customers & charge outrageous oil prices without prior notice to their customer. Do not use them!!Review from Steve L

Just received a Oil delivery and was charged ceiling price of 6.39 per/gal. I checked NYS website and Oil was at 4.20 a gallon, I then called Petro and asked them to explain themselves, the operator told me that the cost of running a business increased so they had to charge the ceiling price but it was still Lower than the average. They gave me a 50.00 loyalty credit to make me feel better. But it did not I found a local Oil company for 4.00 a gal. Drop Petro if you can I am, they are robbing long islanders blind...
