    We entered into a contract to rebuild our deck on 7/12/23. Contract stated the time frame to complete this work was “approximately” 7/29/23 to 8/6/23. Work began, by him, on 7/29/23, and we paid the down payment of the contract, $1125 in cash. Per messages sent via Messenger, he stated he would be back on 7/30/23 to finish the work. He didn’t come on 7/30/23 and messaged me stating the heat and sun was too much for him and he would send a friend who “was a good carpenter” to finish the work on 7/31/23. This person never appeared. Through many text messages we were told he would get it completed in the next couple of days and would be here on 8/1/23. This person did come on 8/1/23 and did some of the work, then left. I received a text message stating his friend would finish on 8/2/23. He came at 10:30 on 8/2/23, worked for a while then told us he had to go get screws and was gone for hours. He also changed his oil in our driveway. We were told again that his friend was going to finish the deck on 8/2/23, he did not. He came back the next day 8/3/23 and worked most of the day. *** ***** came to the house around 4:30 on 8/3/23 and it appeared that his friend was finishing up (he didn’t) so we paid the remainder of the contract, $1125 in cash. It turns out he was not finished and was supposed to come back to finish. He hasn’t been back yet nor have we been advised as to when he would. *** ***** also stated he would be here to remove the debris (as stated in the contract) on 8/5/23. He has not done this. He was also to return lumber that was not used and I would get refunded. I tried to contact him several times on 8/5/23 asking for a time and did not hear back from him until 1:47 in the afternoon telling me he couldn’t get the trailer and would take care of it “sometime this week” I have tried contacting him by phone, text, email, and am getting no response. The deck is incomplete (boards not screwed down) there is a damaged part of the railing which is installed wrong.

    Since filing this complaint, the person sent to do the work (not the contractor) did come back and finish installing the screws. We are still waiting for the broken piece to be replaced and railing to be corrected. Our complaint is only with the person we entered into the contract with, not the one who actually did the work. *** ***** still has not responded to me from any of my inquiries, but the other person has even though we didn't contract with him.
