On 7/14 I had an eye examination at Eye Consultants of PA.I filled out the top portion of the bill for service for $123.47 with my credit card information on it and hand delivered it to Eye Consultants of PA on August 17.In September I received a second bill from Eye Consultants of PA for the same amount I had already paid on August 17. I called the office and spoke to ***** from the billing department. She said she could not find the envelope I had dropped off with the payment enclosed.I was told she would keep looking and I expressed my concern about my missing credit card information.A third bill from Eye Consultants of PA arrived October 11. My husband removed the top portion of the bill and wrote a check for $123.47 and mailed the payment October 13.Today is October 17 and I received a letter in today's mail from *********************** a debt collector trying to collect $123.47 for Eye Consultants of PA.I have done all that I could to resolve this issue. I plan to speak to management at Eye Consultants of PA tomorrow. What they have done to me is unconscionable.I must have resolution for the mistakes they have made at my expense. Thank you for reading my complaint.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/16/2022

    November 10, 2022

    Dear *** *****,

We are in receipt of the complaint placed against us. I have asked our billing supervisor to research this matter and below is our response.
    According to our records-
    1) Patient's first statement was sent out on August 10, 2022.
    2) We found no evidence of the envelope that was supposedly dropped off on August 17, 2022. No payment was charged to her credit card by our practice.
    3) A second statement was sent out on September 7, 2022, because we had no payment shown in our system. A third statement was sent out on October 5, 2022. These are generated because there was no payment to her account.
    4) Our patient accounts process utilizes a "Pre List” service which attempts to collect on patient debts before they are formally placed as a collection agency debt.
    5) Patient mailed in a check on or about October 13, 2022 for the amount due. On October 17th, she received a "Pre List" letter attempting to collect on the debt. This was due to the timing of the delivery of the mail.
    6) On October 18, 2022, we did receive her check for $123.47 and it was posted into our system.
    7) Since the balance was paid during the "Pre-List" period she was not referred for formal collection agency actions. The agency, ********** *******, that is used for "Pre-List" services, has confirmed that her account shows she paid in full and that she was not reported to the credit bureaus.
The "desired settlement" is not applicable because she was never reported to the credit bureaus by our practice or our agent for this debt.
We trust that this resolves this matter and appreciate the opportunity to provide
this explanation. Thank you very much.

    Sincerely,
    Charles *. B*****, MHA

[A default letter is provided here which indicates your acceptance of the business's response.  If you wish, you may update it before sending it.]

    Better Business Bureau:

I stated the facts in my complaint. Only the woman at the Eye Consultants office who took the envelope from me with the payment enclosed on 8/17/2022 knows what she did with the envelope that contained my credit card information.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    Regards,
