*********************************** of Abbott Construction LLC was hired to complete updates of my bathroom, kitchen, install laminate flooring and replacement of stair treads/railing with balusters on 08/11/2022. He began the project, that he quoted was to take approximately 6 weeks to complete, on 08/31/2022 at the cost of $25-31k. At time of signing the generally summarized contract provided he was provided payment for the requested $8k deposit, stating he would provide me at my first request of an itemized contract (never provided although requested of multiple times). The contract outlined payments in 4 installments: $8k for the deposit, $10k upon demo of the bathroom, $8k upon completion of the bathroom and remainder to be payable upon completion of the total job. After the bathroom was completed and Mr. ******************** already receiving a total of $16k, he then requested he receive another payment of $5k quoted for my kitchen cabinets, that have yet to be installed or even delivered. Another $3,500 for the stair treads/railing with balusters, again not completed or delivered and even went so as far to request and received another payment of $3,550 so that he may cover his payroll. On 12/07/2022 Mr. ******************** was to finally deliver the cabinets to begin their installation stating in a text message rcvd at approximately 10am that morning they were being loaded into his truck, yet he did not reach out to me again until 7pm that night stating they just finished loading them. He advised he would come to "finally" provide the requested itemized contract summary. He finally arrived at my home at 8:30 pm expressing that neither my husband or I should be upset as his intent was to again request more money. When it was stated that we would not be paying anything further he stormed out. Never provided the itemized contract summary. Has not returned to complete the contacted job since. In total Mr. ******************** has received $32,500 and I have additionally paid approximately $3k more in material out of pocket that he continued to state we would take into account at the end, reducing what would be further do. Not to mention that in the process of installing the laminate flooring in the kitchen they had removed our stove and stored it in the garage in early October. If I did not persist that the stove be brought back in as of the night before Thanksgiving, we would still be incurring additional food expenses that were absolutely beyond unnecessary, to which they also damaged a stove top grate in the process of removal that he attempted to deny happening. The stove was newly purchased in February 2022. Following his lack of return we discovered that his GC License has been revoked and apparently so has his LLC License. Mr. ******************** has only communicated in one final text message the same night he walked out attempting to insinuate that I need to come to an agreement to what is still owed to him so he may complete the job. Yet by his mutually signed contract vs what I have paid I'm currently owed money. And still need to pay someone new to complete what he has started. Which is most likely going to cost at least the $8,500 in material plus someone else's labor cost that will probably be approximately an average of $65/hr. I don't know what ramifications if any can be taken against him by this Board but if there are any to any gravity I would greatly appreciate the actions to the fullest to be taken. My next step is to File a complaint with the referral website he came from HomeAdvisors aka *****'s List. I have already filed one with the ** Contractors' Registration and **************** This gentleman should not be allowed to have a GC's or any other business license. I'm sure this is a dime a dozen complaint to be filed but hoping a right can come from all the wrongs that he has done to me as a consumer will make it worth it.
