This is a Major issue I am having with my roof. I did not originally make the purchase as the roof was completed 8 years ago with a 30 year shingle warranty and I bough the house in 2018. I have had no issues until apprimxate 3 weeks ago. I was called by my firth floor tenant that the wall was wet and had mold/mildew. Upon seeing this I then went up to the second floor and the closet had the issue as well. I called two different companies and my insurance upon finding the issue. I had a disaster company come out that found the leak and told me they do not do roof. I called a roofing company and opened and insurance claim as I have water damage and mold in 2 closets and a leaking roof. Upon inspection the roofer and insurance both told me the roof was installed incorrectly. It is a flat section of roof that the roofer used shingles on. It should have had membrane not shingles on this section. The roof was installed incorrectly with poor workmanship is what i was told. Insurance said it is not covered and to contact originally roofer as it is not a covered offense. I had the roofing company put plastic over the leaking spot to stop additional damage as we were getting heavy rain/storms over the weekend. I called the pervious owner, finally got the original roofers name. I finally got ahold of them and they came out. Made excuses and told me its not the roof but the cracked vinyl and the dormer was the issue. I have no leak on the third floor where the dormer would be leaking and There is clear puddling and rotted wood that was disregarded as he stated over and over that roof was good and now warranty is void as someone put plastic on the roof. I had insurance and another construction roofer both tell me the roof was installed wrong. Now i have a roof issue and 2 closed tat need to be fully ripped out, mold cleaned and killed and put back together costing thousands and the roofers who did the job wrong said tha its correct and sue me if i want.Customer response

Please find the attached, permit, proposal and warranty that I had with ***************************. ( pervious owner)
************************************* was never my customer or client, never had business with him.
Warranty in ************ its one year on labor.
Mr. ****** was supposed to contact GAF when purchased the property to transfer the warranty.
Mr. ****** was supposed to contact GAF or me first to look at the problem and not other roofers.
For my experience the problem is not the roof, if was the roof he should of notice within the first year of the installation, looks like he lost some alumni and flashing on the dormers and the caulking around the windows and on the alumni seams failed and looks like the squirrels where tried to sneak in to the house removing some siding.
