I paid $1,208.60 for my brakes to be fixed on my Jeep Wrangler by the team at Breaks For Less in Beaufort, SC on February 25th, 2023. My invoice number is 109372. They charged $617.45 for labor and $525.37 for parts. They claimed they spent 4 hours of work on my vehicle as explained to me by the technician who worked on it. They also stated to me that the reason why I was charged that amount for labor was because they bill $85 an hour and worked for four hours on my vehicle. The problem is $85.00 times four is $340.00 which is why I couldn't understand how they came to the number $525.37. If the amount of hours they claimed they worked on my car is true, then that means they worked on my vehicle for 6 hours by taking into account the $525.37 that was billed to me. My car was not even in the shop for 6 hours. They claimed they worked on my vehicle all day which is not true at all considering I watched from across the street the entire time they worked on the car, which was not even close to 3 hours. Their math for time simply was impossible considering they give "free" inspections and the amount of time the car was in the shop could not even add up to four hours after their free inspection. The most they could mathematically charge me for the amount of time they worked on the car would at best be 3 hours, which would be $255 for labor, not $525.37. I would like some of my money back considering they lied about the amount of labor hours it took to fix my car. They did nothing to correct my bill, just stood there awkwardly defending the amount of labor they charged me.

Took my 2015 Toyota Highlander for brake service and spent $1284.62 having my front pads, rotors and calipers replaced. Everything seemed fine until two days ago when my wife said she heard what sounded like a rattle coming from underneath the car. I took a look around and didn’t see anything that seemed loose under the car that would cause a rattle. Yesterday on her way home from work we were talking on the phone when she said in a frightened voice that “something is really wrong with the car”. I told her to pull over and that I was getting in the car to come to her. When I arrived the car was unable to move forward but would move in reverse. I looked around and again could not diagnose what the issue could be. I ended up having my car towed to the dealership where they told me that my caliper was missing the bolt that held it in place. This had caused it to fall off and prevented the car from moving. It also caused damage to the tire rim and they recommended it be replaced for safety reasons which would cost another $550. I was told by the dealership that I was the second person this week to come in with the same issue that had gotten their brakes done at this brakes for less location and that they usually average 1 per week from that location. I went to brakes for less to let them know of what happened and to get a refund plus damages ($1834.62). I was passed off to someone who told me at first that “stuff like this happens all the time”. Employee told me that there was nothing he could do to fix my issue.

    To whom this may concern,

My name is **** and I am the manager at Brakes for Less. When *** ***** came into the shop to discuss the issue that happened that day he was understandably upset before I even started talking to him. He explained what happened to his vehicle and proceeded to tell me what Toyota was saying so I asked him what would resolve the problem in his eyes. He wanted the full amount back for all the work we did, which was front calipers, pads and rotors as well as rear pads and rotors, as well as the 550 for the wheel that Toyota claimed he needed. I let him know that I couldn't give him that much back and he got upset and left. If ** ***** had been willing to work with us I would have gotten authorization to refund the cost of the front brake work that was performed which totaled $811.98
