I bought a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and was told by Tim and Chris that this vehicle had a rebuilt engine in it. Because it was a repo whey they bought it at the sale and that whoever owed it had taken the would plug out and the engine lock up. The jeep was bought in March. Less than a week after having it left me in the middle of Lake Murray Blvd. It had to be towed to the dealership. I was told that the silanoid has gone, water pump etc. Some of this was put thur the warranty, which I had to pay deductible of $100. I think this was wrong. Vehicle was less that a week old. HT put a extended 6mth Warranty on Jeep. Now I know why to cover their ass for put a used engine in the jeep instead of rebuilt engine as I was told. I went by several times and told them about the problems that was having and they told me what I needed to do and that's why They put a warranty on it. Warranty does not cover the cats. But engine went out on June 3rd and I have been without a car ever since. Collins Performance has done a diagnostic test on jeep and has since set a request to warranty, Co. which to this day is still pending. I was not told the truth about why they really put a warranty on Jeep, that's because they put a used engine from a Salvage Yard in it. Warranty Co would have never given a warranty on a used engine. I just feel that if they can do this to me they will do it to anyone. I just want Chris/Tim to cover the deductible and whatever the warranty does not cover. So that this vehicle can fixed the way it should have been prior to selling. Attached you will find a copy of the warranty, shipping label and the billing receipt from where engine was purchased.bi have called and spoken to them they are nothing more than a salvage yard and engine had a 30 day warranty.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/13) */ This person did in fact buy a jeep from my dealership, she also bought a Murano from me a few years ago. The first purchase of the Murano was as-is and the customer was constantly coming back trying to find some way to negotiate how I have to pay for upkeep of the car. That being said, when she came to the dealership for the Jeep, I made sure that out of the profit of the deal, I would include a warranty that had a comprehensive coverage plan, roadside assistance, and three day rental insurance. EXPLAINED AT THE TIME OF SALE that the warranty ONLY WORKS when you take the vehicle to a RETAIL REPAIR SHOP. I explained CLEARLY that the warranty only works when a covered component fails, and that the warranty claim required a $100 deductible for each occurrence. This was signed for in person on the contract, and explained vigorously. While the dealership did install a new engine in the Jeep months before Miss Lora bought the vehicle, I did not install a new water pump because it appeared fine. We cannot predict when one will fail. The warranty company did cover the WATER PUMP, at my shop because i am a registered repair shop, and yes as contract said, there was a $100 deductible. That leg of her complaint is unfounded. Furthermore, after the replaced water pump, and subsequent whining about the deductible, Miss Lora was happy. She stopped in and said how much she loved the jeep and its her "baby" Well she also confessed she was in a big hurry to get somewhere and mashed the gas pedal to the floor and the throttle position sensor light came on, and she was told she clogged the catalytic convertors. Catalytic convertors are like a HIPA filter on a vacuum, as an example, a vacuum will still run with a clogged filter, but it wont be efficient, and will shoot dust out into the room. A catalytic convertor is installed on every cars exhaust to clean the smoke coming out your pipes. They fill up, they're designed to. Once a lifetime of any vehicle, a convertor replacement is as imminent as brake pads. That being said, catalytic convertors are NEVER covered on ANY warranty company offered in the USA. Its a wearable item, a maintenance item, and designed to fill up at some point. Mashing the gas pedal and forcing smoke down the exhaust by driving irregularly is a good way to clog a convertor. So complaining about cats not being covered is also unfounded, as it states clearly in the warranty paperwork that cats are NOT a covered item. Lastly, the warranty company required the vehicle be brought to a legit repair shop, not a part time back garage repairman who doesnt take credit cards, or has a retail shop. On the weekend of fathers day, at 1130pm friday, well outside my normal business hours, i received a heated call from a "mechanic" who wanted to know how to get paid to fix this Jeep. I continued to speak with him even though his time of call was odd and inappropriate. I answered how to open a claim, and when he said he didn't take credit cards; (warranty companies pay claims with credit card numbers) I was forced to ask what shop he ran. When he explained he ran a back garage and he was friend with Lora, I told him the warranty company would not cover any repairs made at a non-retail repair shop. That ended that call. On fathers day, I received another harassing call outside of business hours, obviously, and a voicemail questioning my business ethics, and integrity. At this point, I responded by saying that he has no business with my company, or me, that calling me regarding this was futile and if he continued to harass me that I would contact the Sheriff's department for a cease and desist. That ended that. Apparently this mechanic was previously a police officer now fixing cars. Miss **** would have been wiser to not drive the used car with 153k on it (new motor or not) in the manner which she did. Her lack of judgement will cause failure on any car with any miles regardless of its previous owner. She also would have been wiser to act professional and reasonable with me, like i was with her. If she had actually listened to the explanation of the terms and conditions of the sale / and included warranty that SHE SIGNED for, she would realize that her entire complaint, and the entire situation that unfolded since she took possession of the Jeep is all self inflicted due to poor judgement and ignoring good advice. Her entire complaint is unfounded. Thank you for your time. Chris R** Hometown Integrity Driven Motors UPDATE - THIS COMPLAINT IS FRAUD - SPOTTED YESTERDAY 7-12-2022 2;45pm DRIVING ON THE ROAD - THIS PERSON IS HARASSING AND I AM CONSIDERING POLICE INVOLVMENT Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/07/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Having already submitted my original concern and supporting documentation. I simply want to address a few incorrect statements made by *****. My main concern is the misrepresention that the Engine put in the Jeep was not New or Rebuilt as Tim/Chris stated. After multiple requests I received the shipping label from Tim and was also told by Tim where the engine was bought. I was able to reach out to Wayne's Auto Parts in Michigan and spoke to two different people only to tell me the engine that they sold ***** with Hometown Motors was a USED OEM ENGINE. The only other concern is the inaccurate statement that I was seen driving the Jeep when I my Boss and my co-workers can verify that I was at work during the time he claims to have seen me driving. Also the vehicle has not left my yard since it was towed there the night of June the 3rd, because it does not run. Lastly it is unfortunate that ***** has referred to Joey w/ Collins Performance as if he was a stranger. But infact the mechanic in his own time came to my home where the Jeep is stranded and used his own equipment to run a thorough diagnostic testing. This was so he could assist me in communicating with Chris since the two know each other very well. So it is very unfortunate that ***** and Tim with Hometown Integrity Motors misrepresented the vehicle in question. Nor has he made no effort to fix the problem and has resulted to personal insults me and my mechanic.I feel as a consumer, that my efforts not be in vein, if this were any other dealership. The insurance company has had no problem with the mechanic that I have chosen to repair the car, nor has any problems communicating with, only *****. All I want is for Chris to confess that he did put a used engine in the vehicle, since I have all documents proving this from Tim. I also want him to pay what the insurance company does not cover. Business Response /* (4000, 10, 2022/07/18) */ Irrelevant. The engine was used, and when I got it, it was put on engine stand and totally rebuilt, except for Pistons and crank. This is irrelevant because I didn't even need to disclose that information about the previous engine . These people are just trying to extort the business. The transaction was as Is, the federal as is form was signed, an arbitration agreement was signed and the dealership processed their Lien and registration properly. There is nothing left to discuss. And there is a video of this vehicle driving down the road last week. It's definitely it, plate number matches and there is NO WAY to dispute that. It's time stamped Consumer Response /* (4200, 12, 2022/07/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) None of this Irrelevant!! But what is relevant is that you are a crook and a liar!!! There is plenty left to discuss with Social media, word of mouth, tv stations, and my attorney. Also please see the attached timesheet signed by my supervisor showing that I was at my work on 7/12/22 @ 2:45pm and the Jeep is still sitting where it has since it 6/3/2022. Let's see your evidence now!!
