Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/09/08) */ This customer purchased a vehicle in June of 2017 from Car Center of Glen Burnie. We have no record of her requesting a copy of her application or contract. We mailed copies out today. We force placed insurance on the vehicle because the customer failed to maintain full coverage. The vehicle was totaled after just one payment was paid and the customer called to turn the vehicle in. She stated she couldn't afford to repair the vehicle. We filed on force placed insurance and sold the salvage at auction which together paid but left a deficiency balance. We filed for garnishment which was awarded in March of 2017. We received some payments but the customer eventually settled the debt for less than the full amount owed in December of 2019. The account is accurately reporting as a settled debt for less than full balance and with a zero balance. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act Northstate Acceptance has violated my rights. 15 U.S.C 1681 Section 602 A states I have the right to privacy . 15 U.S.C 1681 Section 604 A Section 2 states a consumer reporting agency cannot furnish a account without my written instructions. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/09/13) */ Thank you for your further input. We mailed you a copy of both your application and contract. We are not sure why you didn't receive it. We are sending both out certified to you this week. Hopefully, then you will receive it. The portions of the Fair Credit Reporting act that you mentioned have further meaning. **** refers to the Credit Reporting agency exercises privacy meaning they have to protect your information. We are a furnisher meaning we provide account information on consumers to the CRA. The next section you refer to, *** is also for the credit reporting agency and it means they cannot provide your credit report to anyone without your written permission. An example of written permission would be you applying for credit and signing an application. None of your rights have been violated. We provided accurate information to the CRA and acquired your credit report initially because you applied for credit. We would be happy to answer any other questions you have or discuss further if you would like to call us.
