    I visited with the company in January to help with finding a person to date as I am limited with prospective matches due to my job obligations (I work in healthcare). I had previously used dating apps with no success. I listened to their presentation, discussed reasons for hiring them, and agreed to their services. I paid a small fee with request to make monthly financial obligations. there agreement was to procure members based on my preferences. I discussed with them, in writing, that I had three non negotiables: taller than me (I'm 5'9, non smoker and athletic). I did not think that this was a lot to ask. The other reason that I went to their services is because they are to vet people for you so that you don't have to assume that risk. The first person that they sent me, when I called him, was confused as to why I was calling. He stated that he was in a relationship and had not used SC matchmakers in a while. I was completely embarrassed by this scenario. Wasn't this part of their job to ensure that these people were available? When I left them a message they stated that they didn't know, he hadn't told them, etc. The second person that they sent me was according to him, 5'8 and shrinking every day. I decided to give him the opportunity and met. Again my qualifications was to be TALLER than me. I sent another message stating that this person was not acceptable. They sent me a third person when upon speaking with him found out that he was SMOKER! I work in breast cancer. Non-negotiable for me - non smoker! I have contacted their office stating that I no longer want their service as they are sending me the exact opposite of what I asked for along with no additional funds to be removed from my account as they are not providing services appropriately.     It appears the problem here is We chose not to continue to match Ms. P****** after she continued to meet clients but has not maintained her contractual agreement to pay since February.  We cannot continue to search without resolution of this matter.  When we attempted to resolve her delinquent account, she stated she would file this complaint.

     I am rejecting this response because:

    although did contact me for further payment, only yesterday, and for the FIRST time, I sent multiple messages prior to this complaint in order to procure what I had asked for.  I continued to see their matches hoping that my response back to them would eliminate the need for further discussion.  I was hoping that it was just an oversight on their part.  However, it only led to more of the same….NOT what I asked for in my qualification information . I am not asking for any money back.   I am not asking them to pursue more matches for me . I only want to not be contacted by them again.

    I interviewed on Oct 24. The interviewer was very encouraging, suggesting she thought I would easily meet men and that I had a lot to offer. She said, "I can think of several men who you would match with." As an ordained pastor it's difficult to meet men on my own. I don't hang out at bars and it's not appropriate for me to date men in my congregation. She suggested the.package with 8 matches. I made that choice, although she gave me 15 matches for the 8 match price. She said, "you won't need that many matches though." The first match (***) was sent to me on Oct 30. I finally called him. I was shocked that he was in a nursing/rehab center following a fall. He was not at available. I called Donna at client services and she started to find another match. Match # 2 was ******. I ended up calling him too. We agreed to meet for lunch on Nov 14. I made it very clear that I'm politically and theologically conservative during my interview. ****** politically and theologically is very liberal. He was condescending, very opinionated and not easy to be with. He was very judgmental about everything we talked about. He constantly challenged me and made judgements about me without even trying to get to know me. He let me know that anyone that he would be interested in would need to be fully focused on him and have no other interests. A horrible match. I was exhausted after 2 hrs with him. Match #3 was on Nov 22 and I called him. He answered twice and immediately hung up. I sent him a text. After several days he texted me and said he was suppose to be on hold and not open to a match. Match # 4 came to me on Dec 5 and I called **** and left a message. He called & hung up after one ring. I waited a couple hours and called **** again and left another message. None of the 4 matches were appropriate for me.I still have 15 matches, I'm told. There is no quality control. Donna is defensive and not professional I've been duped out of $3,500. I want my money back.

    Ms. ******* did indeed enroll with South Carolina Matchmakers on October 17, 2024 with a membership and has since received 4 introductions.  It appears the largest complaint here is what happened upon contact.  Unfortunately this is something we cannot control as individuals are just that and though a match fits the majority of criteria sometimes upon meeting whether it is because of "chemistry" or just a difference in two individuals views, a match does not move forward.  Once "feedback" is received we move forward and work toward a new match.  This is as with all clients what we will do for Ms. *******.  As with many clients sometimes the right one doesn't come with the first few meeting but later as we receive "feedback".  We have no doubt we can achieve what she invested in and will continue to do so.

    Finding myself single and lonely after a divorce, I heard about SC Matchmakers and set up an appointment. My appointment and when I signed the contract was 6/9/22. After emailing them once to see if any progress was being made, I got my first match 7/21/22. He and I met for a casual lunch, and there was no chemistry. Not their fault. I sent feedback and have been waiting for a second match ever since then. I signed up for 5 matches within 5 years. I sent an email almost a week ago, and haven't received a response so I came here to see if maybe they had closed up shop without fulfilling their contract. So I am at 22 months and one prospective match. I wish I had checked for reviews before I dropped the money I didn't have in the first place.

    After reviewing Ms. J***** complaint it appears we have not received the necessary "feedback" from her introduction.  This is a necessary as per our agreement with Ms. J***** and allows us to "fine tune" future matches.  Once she provides this we will move forward for her.

    We have placed Ms J***** back in matching and are working on her next match. Due to our process and desire to provide a compatible match this process can sometimes happen quickly and in other situations take longer. We will send Ms J***** another match when we feel we have the best candidate available for her.

    I was coerced into joining this South Carolina Matchmakers on November 23rd 2023. They said it would be a 60 to 90 minute interview. I was there for over 3 hours. They started out offering a 6 thousand dollar package… After hours of pressuring me they brought the price down to $1,250.00. I was exhausted and just wanted to leave so I gave them my credit card. They are not acting on my behalf at all. They’ve suggested a sad grieving man who lost his wife 2 years ago and another grieving man that has psoriasis of the liver!! I have repeatedly asked for a refund of which they simply ignore me. Donna continues to promise me a match and Never delivers. Her last lame promise was a match by the end of February… It is now approaching mid March!! I just want my money refunded!

    Ms. F**** is attempting to make a situation where she negotiated with our company and now turn it into a situation that she had no control over by eluding to pressure and exhaustion.  Ms. F**** and I had a wonderful interview and ended amicably with Ms. F**** extremely happy with the agreement she negotiated.  

    Please note we are well within the time limitations set forth in our agreement with her to fulfill her matches and rely on her "feedback" to fine tune and move forward with new introductions.  

    We are a Matchmaking service not a Dating service.  The difference being we do not just send introductions for the sake of sending people out.  We cover a broad range of qualities and compatibilities in matching.

    We stand behind our commitment to our membership and our members including Ms. F**** and will continue our service to find her the right person for her to build a relationship with.

    I was misled several times!! my first match was a sad grieving msn number 2 was gravely ill with psoriasis of the liver…

    I was PROMISED A mate by the end of February it is now March 14th i am requesting a refund 

    I may negotiate with them but the couple people I was given feel the same way and are just cutting there losses and moving on.

    i want a Refund as I am not willing to walk away from this scam where you charge different prices for the same 5 picks…Appears shady

    I did not enjoy the 3 hours + during that interview where you began at 6 grand and in your desperation to hook me brought it way down to 1250

    I’d also like to add they neglected to screen potential men as they paired an active young at heart girl with a Very Sick man with a deadly liver disease.

    i was promised a match by the end of February.

    the way they charge different prices for the same program is suspicious as I spoke with a man that has the same program as me and he got them to accept 1 grand…I paid 1250 and another man paid 6 grand.

    i would also like to add that I confidentially confided information about a client they presented to me to Donna and it appears they have shared this information with that man  despite promising to keep the information regarding my complaint to themselves!

    totally unacceptable professional conduct.

    please negotiate with them for a full refund

    i may consider accepting a grand refund and eat the rest as a loss.

    I paid over $1000 to receive at least 5 referrals of gentlemen in the Myrtle Beach area. After 4 months of calling, emailing, and complaining, I have yet to meet anyone. I received 2 phone calls; one asked me how much I weighed, the second was in a home and feared getting lost if he drove to Conway. Buyer beware. They do not fulfill their own contract; instead continue making promises not kept. This was 100% a waste of my money. I’ve asked for a refund which of course was denied.

    We are not sure why Ms. S****** is filing this complaint.  First of all she has been sent 5 introductions (Keep in mind we cannot control what happens when two individuals talk or meet).  We have communicated with her on numerous occasions and in the spirit of business we are continuing to search for introductions in order to help her find someone special.  Therefore with inability to guarantee "chemistry' we are still searching in hopes of helping her finding it.  We will continue to do so but do not see the basis for this complaint.

    I joined South Carolina Match Makers about 2 years ago and Carol sounded sincere and like she really wanted to help me find someone. I thought that I had finally found hope in finding my soulmate as they make it sound like a fairytale solution that they will surely find you someone. I gave some money to hurry things along and thought once that started the process would begin. There was no real set price. They seem to tell everyone a different price. They do not communicate with you at all just ghost you. I had to keep calling them and they kept saying that they were looking for a match for me. Everytime they sent me a referral mind you I am really putting pressure on them once a week of more they just referred anyone. Nothing in common and all the things I said I didn’t want. I have never been do mislead and disappointed in all my life. I feel that they took advantage of me being on a limited income I really could not afford it but to find love? It was worth it to me as I lost both my parents within 10 months of each other and felt so alone. No friends, no family kids are teenagers and don’t realize how lonely mom is. Getting older and just wanting and needing that partner and companion that these people promised they would find me but just kept saying they are looking snd it takes time. So what can you do but wait? It’s been almost a year now. Game over. I have had enough. Haven’t heard a word from them. If I don’t call they don’t call. They just took my money and have not rendered the service. I want to either get my money back or for them to give me more referrals. That was the thing they kept saying that I didn’t meet who they referred, once you talk on the phone and realize that your not a match why meet them in person? They do not do a deep check list on the compatibility of the person. It’s frustrating. And your not allowed to see a photo of the person. Just go on chemistry. That can be a disappointment when you meet them.

    She enrolled with South Carolina Matchmakers on April 21, 2022 less than a year ago, not 2 years ago.  Her program consisited of 5 introductions and at this point we have provided 5 we have not received the necessary "feedback" on the last.  It appears the misleading comments have been made because Ms. S******** has not found someone with which she has found "chemistry" and this is not something we can guarantee.  We do however want to see her find sucess and will move forward for her once we receive her "feedback".

    I signed up November 17, 2021. I paid $1,500 for 3 dates. Debra ***** assured me they had hundreds of applicants. It is April 3, 2023. I have not had one date. I call to complain and they assure me they have plenty of candidates but haven’t found a match for me yet. I have had 3 inquiries. Two of which were out of my age range. 65 and 68, one individual told me she had terrible mental disease’s. I call again. The few individuals I did have conversation with confirmed to me that they were experiencing the same thing. I would like a complete refund with interest. I expect to get “ Ripped off” by scammers at some point in my life but not Mature, sweet woman, who lie to your face and take your money. Yes, I want a refund, yes, I don’t want other “suckers” like myself to get caught in this Fraud.     Mr. ********* enrolled with South Carolina Matchmakers on a 3 introduction program and though he was sent 3 introductions we have continued to look for new matches.  The three ladies he has received were 65 yrs old 60 yrs old and 58 years old.  Because we strive to see an individual is successful we have continued to look for new matches.  Unfortunately we cannot either make individuals meet or promise "chemistry" as both of these things are up to the individuals.  We do however as I previously stated wish to see our cients in successful relationships which is why we are continuing our search for Mr. *********.

    As was stated earlier, Mr. ********* has been provided with 3 introductions. They are as follows:  Linda who is 65 and his "feedback" stated he would prefer someone younger.

    # 2 Laurie (61), which in a conversation there was a misunderstanding and Laurie did not realize Mr. ********* was from South Carolina Matchmakers.  She has since apologized.

    # 3 was Sandra (58) not (68) and if Mr. ********* would be so kind as to inform us how a criminal background check would note an individual with COViD related issues we would be happy to pursue that information in order to best service our clients.

    With all this being said we are more than happy to move forward for Mr. ********* and proceed in introducing him and hopefully help him find a wonderful lady to build a relationship with.

    I am rejecting this response because: (1) Linda 65 (my range 50-64)  (2) Laurie one phone conversation, (3) Some woman who called me.  I cannot remember her name.  I was sent no profile, Donna told her to call me and she did.  She had a profile of me but, I did not receive hers.  She was 68.  It was very uncomfortable for both of us.  She was embarrassed " I am too old for you, aren't I?"   Out of respect, I paid the bill. (3) Saundra, Called texted a few times seemed real nice. She never called me back. (4) Carmella said 52 she was 59.  Talked quite of few times. Her personality changed many times during conversation.  This is the lady Miss Debbie went out for a drink with. Carmella is the one who told me she had 'mental illness and schizophrenia."  How you detect this type of information in a Background check? Not sure. When Miss Debbie interviewed me for 2 hours.  She was very sweet.  She said she had plenty of potential prospects as her office was filled with clients every Tuesday and Thursdays up here in Myrtle Beach. I went by three different times and the doors were locked. Its been almost 6 months and besides the 68 year old, no profile I have had no dates.  If Miss Debbie would have articulated to me this could take over 6 months I would have never signed up. $8,000 for 20+ dates? A Joke a raud.  $1,500 for three dates. Greed. I got sold, sweet talked, lied to and I want my money back.  I was ripped off by a Mature woman that Bamboozled me and frankly, I would like to warn other's of their unprofessional practices. In business you pay for a service that should be provided.  Myrtle Beach Matchmakers was not thorough with their details and they took my money and Ran. Thank You, Pete

    I am rejecting this response because:

    This was the 2nd, out of 5, times that I was offered pre-screening.  Which was basically the service reading the gentleman's profile to me and asking if I accepted.

    I am trying to be patient and open minded. 

    The first "pre-screened" referral did not attempt to contact me.

    The second one was after I had filed this complaint.

    When the referrals that are submitted do not match my criteria, I dont think that I am being unreasonable. For example, one of my criteria was someone taller than me, I am 5'8".  I was sent a 5'9" and a 5'10".  When I spoke with the cousnelor, I explained about the height and she said that she completely understoon.  I didn't realize that I needed to indicate a specific height!

    Charleston Client Services, 672 Marina Dr. Suite 201 Charleston, SC 29492 is supposed to be a Professional Matchmaking Service I joined the service I was charged $2800 for five referrals. Referral number one still had her ex husband living in her residence. We never made it past a second phone call. Referral number two was better and we went on three dates total but not a match Referral number three was jewish. Second question she asked me if I was Jewish and the phone call ended shortly after that. Referal number four, we went on one date and again no match, I found out later after the date the woman is on every dating sight known, Zoosk, Our time, Hitched, and Client Services. I'm was seriously not in her price range she was seeking. Referral number 5 was in a relationship when the referral was made. No dates made. By Client Services rules if a date is not made it does not count against you. After the last referral I contacted Client Services and told them their services were just not working for me. When I talked to Donna, the manager, who was partially sympathtic she indicated that they don't do refunds. The company has not lived up to expectations and I think its time to move on and part ways. Bottom Line the referrals this company have made its not lived up to expectations. I have requested a 50% refund but the company will not comply. ***** *******

    Mr. ******* enrolled with us on September 213, 2023 for 5 introductions and has at this time been introduced to 5 ladies.  One of which was seeing someone but had not informed us at the time the introduction was sent.  As for Mr. *******'s assessment of the others our "feedback" greatly differs.

    His first introduction (*****) he considered very intelligent and pretty.  It appears the communication wained after they talked and he asked us to move forward.

    His second (*****)  Mr. ******* notified us on October 6, 2022 that they had been seeing her for 3 months but she was quite busy and he wanted to move forward.

    Third (*****) they met but there just wasn't any "spark".

    Forth (********)  He said she was exactly what he was looking for and found her beautiful, smart and successful.  He however felt he was out of her "price range".  

    The last as I previously mentioned met someone and we have moved forward for Mr. *******.

    As you can see we are and have been providing quality matches for Mr. ******* and it appears he wants to complete the entire program and request a refund.  It is impossible for us to predict or provide "chemistry" and much as we would like sometimes that happens to one person and not the other.  It appears the ladies just haven't felt that with Mr. ******* though it appears he has with some of them.  

    For Mr. ******* to post a complaint is unfortunate as we have been providing him with exceptional service and will do so with his remaining introduction and hopefully find him the success he invested in .

    Again, we only make introductions when we are sure an individual is 100% available to date but also as we stated before we cannot guarantee there will be "chemistry" or mutual connection.  This sometimes happens in person and sometimes when individuals meet.  We have no magic solution for this.  As we previously stated Mr. ******* is out of his cancellation period but we as we have done in the past will move forward with his membership and hope to find him that one individual he can build a healthy relationship with.

    I am rejecting this response because: Again the Company has not lived up to reasonable expectations they were paid to do and promised 

    Introductions were  made with woman non available.

    Sorry, Its not for a lack of chemistry. 4 of 5 of the referrals were 1. Living with the ex husband 2 Acceptable candidate , 3. Jewish and looking for Jewish, 4. On every dating site known. and 5. Not available, dating someone else. The company literally has an object failure rate of 80%.  

    The company has repeatedly lied about their referral email messages being sent to the opposite referral as promised.  

    Referral messages were not sent to two the other referred woman as advertised, promised, and guaranteed.  They say they were but when I have talked to two of the refereed woman and they were not.  Match Makers says the e-mail used may have gone to spam.  However, no email record exists per the woman they have referred me to even in their spam folders.    When the company sends a referral email "the second time" it goes through miraculously. 

    These referred  candidate were $450 a pop.

    I have lost confidence in the company and do not feel they are on the up and up. Unfortunately,  I feel they have proven to be a sham from the start and not lived up to the expectations set.

    It's not chemistry it's just been bad.  80% bad referral, bad performance in proper prep as promised, and the company has proven too many times they can't be trusted.  

    To be frank, they lied about sending the referral messages to the other woman they have refered as promised. 

    Im trying to remain reasonable and amicable.  However, the company has basically been a rip off.  Their services have not lived up to reasonable expectations as promised.  

    I have tried to be reasonable.  Somethings don't work out.   I do not have faith and confidence in match makers will ever live up to any the expectations as they have promised.

    First off I see that I am not the only person filing complaints about this scam of a company. I join their service in July 2022 had have no results. The two matches they sent me were not even close to what I asked for in my profile and have been given no additional matches either. I have been asking for months to speak with someone that can discuss a refund of my money to no avail. They so misrepresent what they say they are going to do and are completely unresponsive. Someone needs to sit on their doorstep to warn off any other poor people that think they are actually a legit company so they don't sign up for this scam...

    Ms. ****** enrolled with South Carolina Matchmakers on July 16, 2022 and has at this time received 4 introductions.  It appears most of her complaint is based on the "chemistry" factor which much as we would like we cannot guarantee.  This however does not make our business a scam.  We dligently search for and work toward an individual finding success.  Sometimes this happens quickly and sometimes it takes longer.  Ms. ****** did enjoy her third match and described him as attractive and really nice.  Though it didn't work out her "feedback" helped us get a better picture of her attractions and we are moving forward for her next match.  Each introduction helps us "fine tune" why or why not" on the chemistry factor and we are taking this in consideration on her next match.  We will happily move forward and provide that as soon as we feel it is someone she would enjoy.

    I am rejecting this response because:  The first one was declined immediately because after an introductory phone call not a meeting it was determined the person was not what I had requested in my profile so a meeting was never done.  The same happened with the 2nd referral although there was not even a phone call with the individual but a request from me to remove that particular referral The third person was from 50+ miles away and decided immediately that the drive was not acceptable.   The 4th was completely not in the profile of what is acceptable to me.   It has been months since the last one and even though I have asked since September for a refund due to their inability to come up with matches - let alone ones that fit what I clearly told them I was looking for they refuse to call and talk to me even after several requests to do so.   I certainly am not the only one that feels they have been ripped off from this company based on the BBB data.  In hind sight I would have been better off dealing with a used car salesman.  They clearly don't have the base of people that was represented to me and clearly don't bother to review your profile to speak with their client to ensure they are hitting the mark on matches.  When I called Donna in reference to last match she set up she actually laughed about how ridiculous a match the person was - I again tried to be very clear about profile details and of course have heard nothing since.  When I continue to ask for a refund for this horrible service I just continue to get the standard response of "you signed the contract" and we have you in our database.   This is just unacceptable.  I spent $3,500.00 for this service and no one at this company seems to care that they have not been able to produce any viable prospects or be willing to at least provide some type of refund.

    As we previously stated Ms. ****** is still a client and we continue to search for her next match and as per our agreement with her will continue to do.  Once again as much as we wish every person could meet Mr. or Ms. ***** on the first try it doesn't always happen that way.  Whether it is in a conversation or in person, sometimes people choose to move forward or not and this unfortunately is our of our control.  As we stated previously we will continue to honor our agreement with Ms. ****** and hopefully find the one person she can build a solid loving relationship with.
