My daughter had her car repossessed recently. After paying to get the car back, the finance company told ** to contact this company to pick up the car. We called, spoke with ***** who stated we have until 2:30 to come get the car. My daughter made arrangements for a ride and called him back to say she was on the way. ***** the proceeded to tell her he was not there and she needs to make an appointment. He said she could then come the next day at noon. I then called to speak with this person and informed him if he is not available during normal business hours to get the car today then we will come tomorrow at 12 but we will NOT pay for another day of fees since he is the one making ** wait until tomorrow. If this company cannot serve clients during normal business hours then they need to be shut down. I see other complaints from others similar to this situation. I am in ******* and cannot be there in person to help my daughter. Obviously there is an issue with this business.Initial Complaint

My car was repossessed on Monday, December 27th. I went down to the finance company that my car is through to make my payment. The company was closed. On Tuesday, December 28th, I went to down to the finance company again at 4pm to make the payment so I can get my car. The manager at the finance company Derek stated that I had to call the tow company. When I went to pay the fees for my car, there was a $400 towing fee that was included. I called Shawn of Palmetto Recovery more than ten times on Tuesday, December 28th. Only for him to tell me that he was not in the area and that I had to wait until Wednesday, December 29th to pick up my vehicle. However, he did say he will bring it to me for $100. He stated that their was going to be an additional $50 to pick up my car. Now I called him again on the morning of December 29th only for him not to answer. I had to contact my finance company and they called him; he answered for them. I called him back, he said I 15 minutes to come get my vehicle or I would have to wait again. Then he changed the price again and stated that it was going to be an additional $125 to get my vehicle. I was taken aback because I just paid a tow fee of $400, now where is this $125 going to. I get there to get my vehicle and I had to find a ride. Only to be told that he does not accept credit cards. So here I am, with no way to give him the money. Then I finally asked can I just use my car to go get this cash off my card and bring it back to you; which he stated yes. I missed a day of work on Wednesday, December 29th I did not have my vehicle. I would like to know where does this $400 go to, my company stated it does not go to them and Shawn with the tow company stated it does not go to him. So who does it go to? Also why was I charged an additional $125? I lived in Myrtle Beach all of my life and have never paid $400 for a tow. I honestly feel as though the finance company and tow company are working together. I would like my $125Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/01/20) */ This is in regards to the complaint filed upon Palmetto Recovery 1 13 2022. Customer paid current at the lenders office around 4 30 p.m. This included the 400.00 repossession fee. Customer and her mother repeatedly called numerous times while we were on the phone with another customer. Once off the line customer called back wanting to redeem the car. I told her we were closed for the day and to call me first thing in the morning. Her mother called back wanting me to bring the car back to customers residence. I stated I could for a 100.00 tow fee. She wanted to know why the charge. I told her this was a for profit buissness and customer would have to come in the morning if they did not want to have to pay an additional tow fee. We do not return vehicles when they are picked up. The next morning Customer called on time and because she did not get an answer she called the lender. I in return called the customer back and told her I was available to release the car.Shesaid she did not havea ride and was going to have to get an uber and did not know when that would be. I told her I have to go on the road and let me know when she had a ride and I would meet her to release the car. She called back about 10 minutes later and said she had a ride and was on the way. I told her she would need a picture ID and the 125.00 redemption fee. This was explained to the at the lenders office the previous day. When she arrived she did not have cash. We allowed her to drive the car to the ATM before paying the fee. She returned shortly and paid the 125.00 redemption fee. A receipt was written and customer left. To sum it up,customer had to pay lender past due payment and the 400.00 repossession fee and a 125.00 redemption fee. All customers pay this to have vehicles released.
