In early Sept 2023, I went to a local Seneca dentist about a loose molar, which they were not comfortable removing since I requested anesthesia for the extraction. I was referred to Upstate Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center, P.A. in Easley for the now surgical extraction. on Sept 12, 2023. The extraction seemed to go well but was very hurried and sort of wham-bam with no thank you mam. When there on the 11th or day before the extraction for the interview, we were told by desk staff that they DO NOT accept any form of Medicare Advantage and the extraction would have to be cash or card. We paid in full, but when home again I started to question my insurance provider about this mess and why they allow this to happen. It took some effort and time to file online claims, but finally my Medicare Advantage PAID them in full on Dec 15th 2023. Thus, they now have twice the funds for the same procedure. In early Jan 2024 we started to inquire about just where our refund was and thus began the personnel shuffle, about not knowing who I was, or when I was there nor about having twice the funds. Around the 16-17th we were told they had mailed the check refund, but to the wrong address? Therefore, in theory they would have had time to get it back, but instead we were told “they would send another to be delivered *****”. Of course, this also didn’t happen. On Jan 18th the Office manager told us that basically she knew nothing about it all and refunds come from Columbia and not Easley where the bill was paid and the ******** ********* check received and I assume cashed. We were given a number to call in Columbia where no one ever answers and left messgees for a return call that never happened. At this point, Upstate Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center, P.A.has had and held our $800+ plus refund with seemingly no intention of returning to us as a patient. We now have the classic and well worn situation of :”the checks in the mail and I won’t…”. Totally wrong!
