I went to Pecision Tune on 2/3/23 for a routine oil change on my 2001 Toyota 4-Runner that was running just fine. After 20 minutes they told me I needed a list of other maintenance. I told them I could afford the cheaper items on the list, so they came back after another hour with my vehicle ready. It was closing time for them, so I paid and left. My car ran horribly, like it was running on 1 or 2 cylinders. I made it about 3/4 of a mile driving until my car died. could not get home and was left stranded on the side of the road. After another mechanic inspected my vehicle I was told that I got scammed. Precision Tune charged me over $260 to add fluids, but the biggest problem was created by the fluid they added getting into the fuel injectors. The trustworthy mechanic said that Precision Tune had destroyed the injectors by not flushing them after adding fluid. And that they had charged me extreme amounts for routine things like checking and topping off fluids. So far their work has cost me over $800 to get my car running again. Much to my dismay they took zero accountability for their work and leaving me stranded. I would like a refund, but also to warn others of this scam.Business Response

My name is Abel I am the Area Manager for south carolina . I reached out to the manager of the store at the pleasantburg location about this customer . The manager does recall dealing with the customer about her issue . The customer did have a issue with her drivabilty of her vehicle . The issue with the vehicle was the the cleaner wasn't burned all the thru the exhaust system . In order to get this done the vehicle had to be driven more . The customer told them to put her car outside and don't touch it anymore . So we could not finish the job completely . She did have a check engine light for a O2 sensor but no fuel inector codes . All coils and fuel injectors were firing properly . This issue is case of carbon build up from lack of maintence on the vehicle , that's why these services were reccommended at this timeInitial Complaint

On 08/03/2022 the Mechanic said this was urgent and that this will fix my issue with the squrling in the car. But i had to take out a loan through credit card company to pay this of in time. When i my care broke down again every 4 month i brought it to other company and found out all parts i have bought in 2 years were not been put in my car not even the oil change was done. I am paying my credit company money for parts that i have not received. This is from 08/03/2021 and 08/28/2021. My car is in bad condition since was not able to get all of the parts resolved by other company as the damage from no oil change and steering wheel fluid and belts were never done. I have tried to contact the Owner and all i was told that the crew who done this is fired, but this dose not help this. I am scammed for $1000s of dollar and not able to get my car all fixed. i request at least $1000 back as a refund. And i have the receipt add on this complaint to show how many times i had to bring the car in which was not normal and parts were not given. I found out later there used just oil on belts without replacing them and more. I am not the only one that was charged high prices and did not received the parts. I am still paying on my credit card for this.Business Response

All of the work performed carries a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty unless otherwise stated. I had someone from he store to reach out to the customer but did not get a response. The first step will be to get the vehicle back in the shop so we can inspect it and determine the course of action needed. You can call the store directly or can reach out to me directly. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. Why would we bring the car back in when we had a other company fix this car. You owe the money back to us and we can show what we had paid. And we have tried to call back multiple times we have left massages if you like we have recorded the phone call when we left the massage. We are ready to pause legal action since we not the only coustomer that were scammed. Many people were affected by this. Also price were unusual high. We stay by what we said.

The customer is more than welcome to contact me regarding these previous repairs and having them repaired. The only invoices attached are our invoices. This whole complaint is not clear enough to make any kind of decision. All of our work comes with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. I do not have any invoices in the computer regarding the customer coming back in for the same issues. Please reach out to me directly to discuss all repairs. Thanks.

This is regarding my recent repair(s) to my 2012 Nissan, Sentra at location; 1465 N. Pleasantburg Dr., Greenville, SC 29607. My check engine light indicated I needed a torque converter. I was given a 'cash discount.' I paid them $1100 for the torque converter and $900 for a transmission. On 5/4/2022, I was told my vehicle shut down multiple times on a test drive to Greenwood by Kyra. I have not had a history of any engine failure prior to Precision. A different story than Kyra told me after they replaced the torque converter a week previously after the apparent 1st test drive on 4/29/2022 which was “not reaching the proper RPMs and the gears were slipping.” Reasoning to me as to why I needed an entire new transmission. Two inconsistent stories and no history on paperwork received of torque converter replacement ever existing. They put 423 miles on my car while in their possession. Over 400 miles for a “test drive” w/ no warrant or notice. Upon entry to my vehicle, 5/4/2022, All the contents inside my vehicle were gone. Kyra & the technician knew & admitted to leaving early & not locking, etc, the day my belongings went missing. Kyra told me to refer to my signed copy, which I still have not received. I requested a copy, she said they keep it in their records, to file a police report and hung up on me. I tried working w/ the District Manager for a month. He said he would "definitely ensure I was taken care of." He came & looked at my vehicle & determined that it was 'fixed.' No lift, no nothing. Just sitting on the street. I am still left with a completely altered 'statement'. Does not list actions done, prices, work. Actual dates & mileage were all altered. They even asked me to sign a waiver at checkout stating I provided the parts & said "not to worry, all of the paid in cash customers do so." Check engine light went on day after I picked up vehicle. End result. They told me they would do nothing, as car is in working condition per District Manager inspection.Business Response

Tell us who whom it may concern,
Precision Tune Auto Care located at 1465 N. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville SC 29607 repaired **** ********’s 2012 Nissan Sentra by replacing the transmission. The transmission was replaced as the customer’s paperwork states. The transmission was a used unit which carries a warranty of 6 months/6,000 miles. On Wednesday, May 25th I met Ms. ******** at her apartment complex and checked the vehicle. I checked the transmission fluid condition and level (new/full). I layed down and was able to see the writing on the transmission showing where it was purchased. I scanned the check engine light and there were no codes present. I monitored the data and found that bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor was responding slowly. We discussed how it worked and I explained to her that after driving, the light may come back on for the oxygen sensor. I offered to take the vehicle to one of our locations and lift it up and check underneath and also check the oxygen sensor. She told me there was not a need for that since I had determined the transmission had been replaced and the fluid level was full and in great condition. Prior to repairing a vehicle and post repair of the vehicle, it must be driven. Prior to is during the diagnostic process and this does take some miles depending on what a technician is attempting to properly diagnose. Post repair, the test drive varies depending on what the repair was and how long it took to diagnose the problem.
As far as the items missing from the vehicle. Precision Tune Auto Care is not responsible for items left inside the vehicle while in our possession. The customer filed a police report and that information should be turned in to her insurance company.
Our disclaimer on all estimates state that we have the right to test drive the customer vehicle and that we are not responsible for any items left in the vehicle.

Regards,
**** ********To whom it may concern,
What the company is claiming is surely not the case. First, when I spoke with the Director of Operations and he had received all my paperwork, he told me that he would ensure that I would be taken care of. Since then, he even sent me texts that my claim had been delayed because they had issues with this location. Instead of working anything out, they left me with nothing and now has falsified my paperwork and their report to the BBB. The warranty of '6,000 miles' is brand new to me. As I never received any information of the work completed to my vehicle. I requested this from the store & from the Director of Operations. I still only have a 'Statement' that was falsified in just about every way; mileage out (same as mileage in), no signature (only 'Paid in Full'. which does not cover their warranty of protected property, included all of my losses from my vehicle.) My email, they stated 'no recommendations'. Yes, they did & stated on my oil change receipt. There are NO mentions of any Torque converter repairs. ONLY transmission. This includes what the Operations Director stated in his report. My original quote was $900 for the torque converter & $1200 for services. I have seriously been taken advantage of and do not know what services were performed on my vehicle, as I did not receive an actual receipt, warranty or list of repairs completed on my vehicle.
Yes, the Director of Operations came and laid on the street and took a look at my engine to try and determine the repairs. My car has about a 2 or 3 clearance from the road. He definitely could not determine all work completed while my car was sitting on the street. I NEVER said that it was ok with me to not take it in to verify the work. I told him that I did not feel comfortable with Precision Auto doing the work. I would rather be getting a refund to take it to an alternate auto store to ensure the proper work was completed, after all that I had been through. At one point, I even said that I would be ok with him taking my vehicle to an alternate store even though I was not comfortable, but I did not hear from him for weeks until I reached out to him.
The larger concern and reason for my file to the BBB is that he states they are allowed to drive our cars for a reasonable amount for a test drive. They had my vehicle for a total of 3 weeks and 423 miles were put on my vehicle. This in no way is a reasonable test drive. This is a joyride, someone commuting, I am unsure. But in any words, this is an abuse of a client rights and surely shows illegitimate business practices. A test drive should only be around 5 - 15 miles max depending on where a highway may be/if necessary to use. I confirmed this with local repair shops and the Director of Operations even stated to me upon our conversations this is correct.
Lastly, I cannot stress enough that I have absolutely NO valid receipt. I requested this from the location and from the district level. The ONLY thing I have is an illegal, altered ‘statement’ that does not have my signature (which the police did confirm does not cover their statement that Precision is not responsible. Especially is Precision being aware of when the receptionist left early and apparently may have forgotten and the technician did notice all of my things gone but thought I had come and picked up my possessions. – per Kyra). No mention of any part(s), work, etc. As stated above, everything was altered. I was never told I would only receive a 6,000 mile warranty. I was never given proof of a torque converter ever being installed. I was told lies upon lies and 423 miles does not constitute “diagnostic purposes”.Business Response

There will be no refund issued because the services and goods provided is not failing and does not cause any type of warranty concern. At any time, Ms. ******** is welcome to run by the Pleasantburg location and get a copy of her invoice. If needed, I could get someone at the store to email it to her. I have limited access to their system remotely and will not be back at that location for a few weeks. I just need a valid email address to send it to her. Thanks.Customer Answer

Regards,
**** ********This is the worst business solution that I have ever dealt with. I have had better customer service with a simple return on a $2.00 return. This is my vehicle in which I trust my life in when getting into my car everyday. There is no valid warranty given to me. They openly provided me with exact dates of when all of my possessions were stolen out of my car. Then told me to file a police report and told me that a lot of homeless people live in the area. How many homeless people care about lug nuts, bowling ball, old paperwork, manuals, phone cables, etc. Constructive Bailment.
They are telling me that 400+ miles is an acceptable 'test drive'. No automotive repair shop that I have contacted has concurred this information. Maybe 5 to 10 miles. They violated many laws in the time they held my vehicle and are now trying so hard not to work with me, that they would rather pursue a lawsuit it makes me sad.
No valid receipt was supplied to me, which now they are asking me to provide my correct information again because they Falsified their paperwork in everyway to try and cover their dishonesty? Altered mileage, work done, parts, dates, work suggested. Illegal.
Illegitimate business practices of driving a customers vehicle almost under a thousand miles and leaving their car on an empty gas tank upon pick up. Telling me I had to sign paperwork saying I supplied the parts until I could pick up the keys and this was 'normal for cash customers.' Try to intimidate their customers and hold the vehicles. Horrible.
There is nothing else I can say other than I tried to work with this company and they have not tried to work with me at all. I feel as if they only are wanting to chose litigation. They are obviously in the wrong in many ways and I am so sorry that they are unwilling to seek a resolution.
