      Do NOT rent from Quartermasters. First if you are a relo from another state know that, SC favors the landlord & read every word in your contract because this company will manipulate whatever "gray" area to their benefit. MaryAnne & Jason are the owners, who will not answer phone calls, emails, written letters, and like to conduct business matters via text. The over all professionalism is lacking on every level. I rented a 2000 sq ft town home, for 18 months, my lease was to end on April 30, 2024. I requested on Feb. 15 , 2024 to move out on March 30, 2024 due to medical issues ( I have even had to apply for temporary Federal DI ). I offered them just cause per my early release clause and was granted to move out. Quartermasters was none responsive from the day I requested early release. My lease & the state of SC both state that Quartermasters has the right to show the house prior to me moving, at no time did they exercise their right to do so. I made multiple attempts to work with them with moving out & zero communication was given to my efforts. After moving out I was not only held for April rent, but charged a late fee ( they were in possession of my $3800 sec dep). I made a demand of deposit, and had to ask twice for a break down of return. MaryAnne informed me the unit was under new contract as of 4/16/24 and I owed 1/2 of April and cleaning fees... ok but then they also withheld $1950 for early termination. This is 100% unethical and double dipping. I sent another demand letter requesting the 1950, and stating they were in the wrong and once again zero response. After speaking with 3 different counsels I know they are in the wrong, but they will not return the money until I retain a lawyer. Co owner Jason S***** is currently running for SC House of Representatives and it should be known that he is 100% apart of unethical business practices.
