September 7, 2022 Robby Cooke with C&C Construction came to lay down a concrete pad for a brand new garage being installed. The concrete was wavy, uneven, and had dips in the pad. He also left concrete splatters all over the garage walls, door and handle, and chunks of concrete in the yard. He agreed to fix the concrete and mess he left me in. After several excuses, he finally returned on September 19, 2022 and attempted to grind down some of the excess concrete that he had left and he did clean up the concrete splatters. He told me he was going to return and lay down Euco Resurface to cover up the concrete pad that he had messed up. He apologized several times in how the concrete pad turned out. At this point I had paid him the full $4960 for the project. He returned on October 9, 2022 to lay down the resurface. They did one side of the concrete pad and said he would return the next Saturday to do the other side. Tuesday October 11, 2022 I looked at the side he did the resurface on and it was cracking and bubbling up in several spots. I notified him of this and how dissatisfied I was with the whole project. I am left with a concrete pad that I can't drive on. He gave me another excuse as to why he couldn't speak and I haven't heard from him since. I have sent him several text messages and called several times with no response. He has now blocked me on social media, as well. I am asking for a full refund of $4960 to cover the cost that it will be to hire another person to fix the mess he left me in.Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/10/30) */ On August 19, 2022, Mrs. ***** ******* reached out to me to obtain a quote to pour a concrete pad. The pad was to go under a metal carport, that was to be delivered to her property at a future date. On August 20, 2022, I spoke with Mrs. ******* over the phone and advised her I would have to survey her property, to check the grade for her planned building. Having successfully poured many concrete pads for customer's metal buildings, I knew it was necessary to check the grade of the building site. Due to metal runners being located at the bottom of the these types of carports, metal carport style buildings cannot exceed a 4 inch grade variance. Upon completion of checking the grade for Mrs. *******, I found that the area her future concrete pad was to be placed had a grade variance of 8 inches from back to front . I advised her that I had to bring in sand clay in order to build up the ground where the front portion of the planned concrete pad/metal carport was extremely low. On August 23, 2022, I texted Mrs. ******* an estimate of $4960.00 to have the work completed to install a concrete pad with which to seat the metal carport she had ordered. The estimate detailed that $4960.00 would cover purchasing, hauling and spreading 20 tons of sand clay to level the grade for the pad, equipment rental to bring sand clay to her property, concrete and pump service to pump concrete to the area at the back of her property, 200 feet from the road. Upon receiving the quote, Mrs. ******* agreed to go forward with the work. On August 23, 2022, at 4:23pm, Mrs. ******* sent me an urgent text asking if I would be able to bring in the sand clay and grade the ground for her metal carport/future concrete pad as soon as possible. She stated she previously ordered the metal carport and had been informed that it would be delivered and installed the morning of August 26, 2022. I did everything I could to accommodate Mrs. *******'s unexpected and urgent request. I was able to schedule sand clay to be delivered to Mrs. *******'s house on August 24, 2022, one day after she made the urgent request to grade her metal carport site. I rearranged my schedule and completed the grading of her future concrete pad/metal carport site at 5:33pm on August 24, 2022. I was not at her property on August 26, 2022; however, per Mrs. *******, her metal carport was delivered and there were no problems placing it on the area I graded. On September 7, 2022, I returned to Mrs. *******'s property to pour her concrete pad under the metal carport that was previously placed on her property August 26, 2022. The high temperature for that day was 91 degrees. The concrete truck arrived to Mrs. *******'s property at 10:00am. As I was working to finish her concrete, I began to feel disoriented and dizzy. I became extremely weak and began vomiting. This occurred approximately 11:30am - 12:00pm. Without seeking evaluation by a medical professional, I can only assume that I suffered from heat exhaustion due to extreme temperatures. I was working under the metal carport to spread and fabricate Mrs. *******'s concrete pad. The temperature under the metal building was extremely hot; it exceeded the outdoor temperature as metal is an extreme heat conductor. My physical situation was obviously not planned and also could not be avoided. Due to the fact that concrete sets up, regardless of the situation, the concrete continued to harden while I was incapacitated. I bought a helper to assist with Mrs. *******'s concrete pad. He attempted to complete Mrs. *******'s pad to the best of his ability. Due to my health status, I was not able to complete the final top finish of the pad; however, I did work the core of the concrete slab before I was physically unable. Cosmetically, the surface of Mrs. *******'s pad did not turn out as well as I would have liked, but the structural integrity was still solid, a 3000 P.S.I, 4 inch thick concrete pad. Mrs. *******'s husband was outside when I became ill. Before leaving Mr. and Mrs. *******'s property, I apologized for my unexpected illness and snafu with the final finish on their concrete. I told Mr. ******* that I would return to grind the surface and apply Eucocrete Re-Cover in order to improve and minimize the surface imperfections on the top layer of the concrete pad. Mr. Ross ******* responded by saying it was fine. On September 22, 2022 at 8:13 am, prior to setting up re-cover appointment, I met with Mrs. ******* in person at her property to discuss the details of what she felt was unsatisfactory. She expressed that she would like for me to fix the few divots on the surface of the concrete pad and remove the concrete splatter off of her metal building, without scratching the metal. I advised her that instead of doing patch work on the divots, I would recover the entire pad with Eucocrete Re-Cover so it would have a nicer cosmetic top surface appearance. She said she was fine with me applying the Eucocrete Re-Cover. I apologized for my health situation on September 7, 2022. After mine and Mrs. *******'s discussion, I removed the concrete splatter off of her metal building on September 25, 2022. Once I was finished, I texted her 14 "before" photos and 12 "after" photos of my work to which she responded "thank you". On September 19, 2022, I ground Mrs. *******'s entire concrete pad to abrade and prepare the surface to accept the Eucocrete Re-Cover. I did not grind the pad down any more than 1/16 of an inch. On October 9, 2022, I returned to Mrs. *******'s property to apply the Eucocrete Re-Cover to the left half of her previously prepped concrete pad. Once I had finished the Eucocrete Re-Cover application, I texted Mrs. ******* to see if she had a chance to view the finished product on her concrete pad. She responded by stating that the concrete with the Eucocrete Re-Cover "looked much better". I let Mrs. ******* know that I would be back to her property on October 15 or October 16 to begin recover prep for the right half of her concrete pad. On October 11, 2022, I received a text from Mrs. ******* that the Eucocrete Re-Cover on the left half of her concrete pad was bubbling and cracking. She texted me photos of the alleged bubbling and cracking. I was able to see what appeared to be a hairline crack, in the photo. From the texted photograph, I can only make an assumption that it was approximately five inches long. I told Mrs. ******* when I entered a work relationship with her that I would stand behind my work. Upon dissatisfaction of the initial concrete pour on September 7, 2022, Mrs. ******* started expressing a desire to obtain a partial refund. Her request then evolved to a full refund. She has not been willing to collaboratively work with me to resolve the issues with the surface of her concrete pad. I have made every effort to accommodate Mrs. *******'s requests; however, I have been unable to satisfy her expectations on the cosmetic Eucocrete Re-Cover. When the resurface started to crack, Mr. ***** refused to respond to any of my messages, blocked me on social media, and has since left me with a cracked concrete slab and no response. It was more than a "hairline" crack in the concrete and if he had returned to see what had happened he would have seen that. I've had another contractor come out since the October 11 discovery of the crack and he explained to me the damage of the concrete and the extent to which it needed to be repaired, which includes a full breakdown of the concrete slab and a repour. This new contractor also did a three way call with Ariel at Palmetto Shed Company, as well as myself and between a video and pictures, we all three agreed the concrete needs to be completely replaced. Ariel at Palmetto Shed Company said she would get in contact with Mr. ***** to at least demo the concrete pad he had messed up. I've received no such response from Mr. ***** regarding that. Mr. ***** sent me several text messages throughout this whole ordeal to tell me he would not leave me in a mess. The extent of damages has left be no option but to do a complete replacement which is estimated at $7200. Again, no response from Mr. ***** to try and resolve this.
