Got solar panels and they have not worked in over 12 months. We have contacted and called to resolve this issue several times with no assistance. A lot of promises were made and now we just want to remove the panels or sell them back or have them repossessed. They have notnworked in over a year we have a huge electric bill. No assistance. My spouse is a disabled Veteran and we can't do anything unless relief or action is taken.

I am filing a complaint against South Carolina Renewable Energy Commission (SCREC) located in Lexington SC at 4884 Sunset Blvd Suite F. I signed a solar agreement with SCREC November of 2021 (contract included) with the expectation that going solar would replace the electricity bill (as promised in their sales pitch). I was told that I would pay a monthly payment for the solar loan (details also included) and the only payment to the electricity company (Dominion Energy South Carolina) would be an average. Solar panels were officially installed on my roof in April of 2022. They have not started to generate solar power due to SCREC lack of coordination with Dominion Energy for approval of the installment and metering. From April of 2022 until now my panels have not been activated and I am stuck paying for the solar panels that dont function and Dominion for the power they provide. I have been consistently trying to contact a representative of SCREC but they do not answer, return calls, text back, or follow-up in any form regarding the status of my service request. SCREC has not sent someone out either to make contact of attempt to resolve my complaints. I would like the system to be removed from my dwelling and I am seeking reimbursement of all costs associated with this system that does not function. Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

We’ve called multiple times, sent emails and tried to contact them via their website and have not gotten a response. Our solar panels have not worked in months.

I signed a contract with this company on or about December 29, 2021 for a solar panel installation. It was finally completed about August of 2022. The Permit and inspection took place in December, 2022. I have asked for months, repeatedly, for someone to come and instruct me in the use of the electric and electronic components but no one has contacted me to establish a date to do that. I am NOT an engineer; I do require instructions in the use of this $40,000 + machinery.

In April 2022 we spoke with a salesperson and we decided to get solar panels from them. We were approved for the loan. We were then told they would be put up in April, then June, then July...finally it was August. Our salesperson said we would not have to pay 2 months power bills...yet that didn't happen. We received an email saying we would get reimbursed for the power bills. We never have even though I sent copies of the bills. At present we are paying MORE for our power than we were before the panels. Before panels it was $165...now it's $144 for the loan and $115 to Duke Power. I have tried to call the company about the reimbursement and to see if someone will come out and make sure the panels are working properly but NO ONE will return my calls. The owner Ian doesn't answer. Reshawn the salesperson doesn't answer. And I need something done about this. I feel they misrepresented themselves as a reputable solar company. We have houses on our street that are larger than ours who do not pay what we are. I need help getting this issue resolved.

I got solar panels through this company and I've reached out multiple times about my system not working properly and need 2 micro inverters replaced. Reached out to the owner *** and he has yet to contact me back about my problem after reaching out to Chilicon who checks to see if the system was working properly. Just want to get my system back running correctly. System hasn't worked properly since July and it's now October

To whom it may concern: I am filing a complaint against South Carolina Renewable Energy Commission (SCREC) located in Lexington SC, XXXXX at 4884 Sunset Blvd Suite F, phone number XXX-XXX-XXXX. I signed a solar agreement with SCREC 10/2/2020 (contract included) with the expectation that going solar would replace the electricity bill (as promised in their sales pitch). I was told that I would pay a monthly payment for the solar loan (details also included) and the only payment to the electricity company (Dominion Energy South Carolina) would be an average of $10.00 to use their grid. Solar panels were officially installed on our roof in December of 2020. They did not start to generate solar until the end of January beginning of February of 2021. From the moment the solar panels went live, they have not all worked properly. I have provided generation reports from Enphase (the company that monitors the solar energy production) from installation to the current month of July 2022 for your reference. SCREC has sent someone out a few times to work on the unit and each time I have been promised that the problem would be resolved however, they have been unsuccessful in their efforts. Every time I have contacted SCREC to place a "work" order it takes months to get someone out to my home. I have been repeatedly told that they are located 4 hours away and are unable to service the area. I have called the company multiple times and left messages and emails in order to have the situation resolved. The company has stopped responding to my correspondence. I would like the system either repaired or replaced. If SREC is unable to accomplish this, I would like the system removed and a reasonable refund as this is a sizeable loan for equipment that has not functioned properly from the moment of installation. Any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time

I recently purchased a home with solar installed by South Carolina Renewable Energy Commission. I noticed that my system didn't seem to be operating correctly so on March 17, 2022 I called and spoke with ******* ****** He was very helpful at the time. He said he'd get all of the necessary things together and call me within the following week to send someone out. Well, almost 3 weeks had gone by and no call back and no service call to my house. So on April 4th, I called to follow-up. I got put on hold and after a while I got tired of waiting so I hung up. They immediately texted me asking how they could help. I texted back my concern again and they asked what my address was. I texted my address and then they stopped responding. I've even tried to send an email through their request for service page and explained everything in detail again. No response. It is my understanding that this system has a 25 year warranty. I am even willing to pay for a service call if that's what it takes. I have tried to find the names of anyone that might be over Mr. ***** in seniority, but I am unable to. I feel like Mr. ***** was very dishonest with me and they are refusing to honor their word or their warranty which I am unable to get any info on since they will not take my calls anymore. I've exhausted every resource I have trying to get this resolved, short of driving to their office.

    Business Response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/05/18) */ Our tech will be contacting you within the day. We have had a recent change in service techs and will be able to have your service now taken care of. Servicing does not cost any money due to the systems warranty. SCREC is sorry for any inconvenience and will take care of this matter as soon as possible. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/05/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I waited until Friday 5/20 for their tech to reach out. That never happened. I texted the owner *** to follow-up and try to explain exactly what my problem is, but he never responded. I really need this resolved. I've been waiting since March. Seems highly unprofessional. Consumer Response /* (2000, 10, 2022/05/26) */ The owner, ***, got in touch on Monday 5/23 and then I was contacted by the service technician, ****** and we scheduled a service call for 5/26. ****** came this morning and fixed the issue, with the exception for one panel, but said to monitor it and let him know if it starts producing power or not and in the meantime, he's reach out to Generac/ChillCon to see if they can help. We will be in contact next week regarding this issue. This issue has been resolved.
