No warning about construction prior as stay or at checkin. Very Rude of this business not to give proper notice to their guests. Bad water: caused health related issues too for us and dogs.

    Lakewood Camping Resort is committed to providing a safe & welcoming environment to all guests. According to your booking, we do not see any record of this complaint during the time of your stay. A visit to the front office or a message through the Lakewood Camping Resort App with this information could have helped remedy this situation during your visit. The construction was originally scheduled to start after Thanksgiving; however, the crew was able to start this upgrade ahead of schedule. We do regret our failure to inform you of this construction during your stay. As for the claim that our water caused illness to members of your party, Lakewood Camping Resort's water is monitored by the state through all required tests. The ********** of ****** and Environmental Control has never noted that our water is unsafe to guests.     arrived on June 17th did not have a picnic table, there was dog ****, garbage, and address signs were broken at the campsite had to clean the area. I told employee Colt at 1:36 P.M. on 06/17/23 at the front desk about it and said he would take of it. the website advertises picnic table at each campsite, but we did not have a picnic table. brochure/packet boasts about many new picnic tables throughout the area have been installed.

    We apologize that the site was found to be in unfavorable condition when you arrived. During the summer months, our team works very hard to check the quality of all sites in the small window of time we have between guests departing and arriving on every site. It appears the guest who was on this site before you did not consider the rules/regulations we have in place to maintain the quality of our resort, i.e. picking up after their pet. We always encourage our guests to report these issues to us as soon as they notice them so we can make things right for them. With a simple call to the front desk or a request through the Lakewood Camping Resort App, these issues would have been rectified in a timely manner. When it comes to the picnic tables, we have replaced hundreds of picnic tables in the last year. We will continue to do so until each of our some ***** campsites has a new one. Sometimes guests move these tables to adjoining sites to enjoy meals with their neighbors & these tables don't make it back to the proper site. Again, this is something our team is happy to fix as soon as we are notified of the issue. We are sorry to see you took your complaints to the BBB, instead of coming to us directly.

    As stated in original compliant I immediately to service desk up by the house and talked to a  employee named Colt at 1:36 P.M. on 06/17/23 on the day I arrived and he stated he would take care of it. Unfortunately it never was taken care of.

    The business is suggesting using a method outside the parameters of the BBB complaint process, such as private phone conversation to make contact which provides no record of resolution to further educate and document problems and resolution to other consumers which undermines the use of the BBB.

    Our vacation was booked from 23 September 2022 through 03 October 2022, paid in full, RV Site 2102. In addition, we paid for golf cart rental for the entire stay. 28 September 20022, SC Governor declared a state of emergency due to the impending hurricane, Ian. 29 September 2022, we notified the campground office that we were leaving that morning due to the Hurricane Ian state of emergency. We then packed up and went home. Since leaving, I've contacted the campground several times requesting a refund for the days we were not able to use the campground (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and golf cart rental fees for those days as well. My request has been refused. We asked to have the days transferred or received a voucher to use for next year and that request has been refused as well. And now, I cannot get anyone from the company to call me back. We have lost over $500.00 and no one at the site will talk to us - they have not attempted to resolve this in any way. We've been camping in Myrtle Beach for decades now, this is the worst service that we've ever experienced.

    Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/11/15) */ A credit for future stay was issued to client account in the amount of $174.84. Customer service nor our front desk was notified of their departure. Customer requested a full refund for all nights included ones already stayed. Lakewood denied full refund and issued a credit for three nights due to Hurricane Ian. We gave every customer option to have a credit issued to their account for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday or they could move further inland, and we would assist. In order to get a refund/credit for golf car; customer must contact the vendor *********************************Lakewood has a contract with golf car facility and do not control their refund policy. An agreement is signed by customer and golf car vendor in order to use golf car. Customer goes under contract with ***************** in order to use their product. Customer waited extended period of time before requesting anything and spoke with two Lakewood supervisors. Lakewood has communicated with customer but only denied a credit for nights already stayed.
