on 12/9/2021 I purchased a vehicle through kia of anderson that came with a contract of free oil changes for 12 months this contract has a term limit of 12 months and a service interval of 6 months /5000 miles they claim this only covers 2 oil changes within a year. if the contract did not specify that it also covers every 5k miles on the interval they would be correct but my contract does. i was refused service when no where on the contract does it say limit 2 beside the 5000miles.Initial Complaint

I purchased a vehicle from Kia of Anderson on Friday 11/26/21. I traveled from Florida to South Carolina to purchase this vehicle and I had the finance check from my ******** Federal Credit Union along with a payment of $1,043.50 I made in the dealership. The dealership stated they were having issues with the system to provide me a temporary tag and registration which had already been paid for and after a while issued me a dealership tag to drive back 7.5 hours to Florida. They provided me with a “Test Drive Agreement” as a form of registration as if I was test driving the vehicle (Which had been paid for) and this “Test Drive Agreement” expired on 11/30/21 I was told that they were going to have the temporary tag “overnighted” to me with a pre-paid return envelope to send the dealer tag back. The next day (Saturday 11/27/21) I received nothing. On Monday 11/29/21, I reached out to the salesperson Brandon and asked about the registration and he stated they were working on getting everything fixed and then they would send it via FedEx. Did not hear anything back from them. On Tuesday 11/30/21 the test drive agreement which I was told to use as my registration expires at 7pm. I still had not heard anything back from them and I contacted the dealership and Jennifer who was originally assisting me was unavailable and I asked to speak with a manager who was also unavailable. I finally ended up speaking with the salesperson Brandon who said that he would follow up with me regarding the tags after he find out what’s going on. He called with another lady on the line in which they told me they were still unable to issue the tag and whomever was helping them from the DMV had left early the day before and couldn’t get back around to it. They said they were going to work on it and follow up with me later that day which I never heard anything back. I reached back out to Brandon to advise I hadn’t heard anything back and he advised that he would check on it first thing in theBusiness response

In regards to this complaint, there are several factors surrounding this specific situation. Unfortunately the ***** *** system we use to print our temporary tags was down at the time of Mr. *****’s purchase and we were unable to print him a tag. We had reached out to our ***** *** rep for help but she was out of the office. We did assure him we were working on printing him a temporary tag and we would overnight it to him as soon as we got it printed, however, the printing issue was a technical issue on the ***** *** side and wasn’t fixed until 12/1/2021. We FedEx’d his temporary tag to him that afternoon along with a return FedEx label and envelope for Mr. ***** to send our dealer tag back to us. We show that he received the FedEx on 12/2/2021 but we have yet to receive our dealer tag back from Mr. *****.
Additionally surrounding all of this is also the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) who notified all dealers on 9/24/2021 that they had exhausted all their stock of 30-day temporary license plates due to production and supply shortages. These 30-day plates are what is required to be used when selling vehicles that will be registered in another state. As a short-term fix, the SCDMV allowed 45-day in state temporary tags to be issued by dealers to out of state customers. In the process of trying to accommodate the short-term fix issued by the SCDMV, ***** *** had to rework their system and the way temporary tags were printed by dealers. This process posed many glitches and problems along the way as ***** *** was trying to perfect their system. The SCDMV has now restocked the 30-day temporary tags and as of January 4, 2022 dealers are now required to use these again so moving forward this should no longer be an issue.
We apologize for the many issues Mr. ***** experienced but we do feel that we have rectified the situation as best as we could considering all the different agency issues surrounding the temporary tag process which we had no control over. On 12/13/2021 we sent Mr. *****’s paperwork to the Florida DMV to have his vehicle properly registered and tagged. We are not aware of any further issues at this point.
Best regards,
Jennifer M*******
