Complaining to the Dir. of HOA Mgmt. was futile. I received a brief response to my 3-pg. letter detailing the issues. That response failed to address any of issues. It was obvious that she conducted no meaningful investigation. An email to Surfside's CEO got no response. These are only a small sample of Surfside's inappropriate handling of HOA matters. It's clear Surfside has shoddy business practices and no ethical standards.

The management team *******************. She was not at the meeting even to see what took place.
Our financials were *******************. This is very common to review the financials by quarter.
Meetings are not recorded so we do take notes and the minutes reflect the actions that took place at the meeting and motions. They are not word for word or state each person's opinion given at the meeting.
If any owner requests to review the books and invoices, we all ask for an appointment so we can have the items ready for their review. Everything is on the computer and no hard copies are readily available. This is in-line with the CAI guidelines. We request appointments as we may be out on property, in a meeting or on the phone with another client. Appointments give the owner and management team the opportunity to be prepared and have allotted time. Appointments are not held in the lobby. Ms. **** showed up and was causing a scene so the manager did go out to the lobby to ask for an appointment to be made and answered the questions and concerns again verbally as she had done via email previously.
Board members ********************************. Many of our association board members do this if the mailing we did and email blasts are not being responded to.
As for the ARB submission form, the governing documents do allow a Compliance Fee which has never been instituted. This fee can be as high as $***** and is returned once compliance of the project is met per the governing documents. The Board did institute a Property Change & Implementation fee in the amount of $25 and this is used to help offset HOA expenses. It is not used to assure compliance is met.
This owner was responded to on her issues presented to the management team and myself. She does not agree with our answers.

Once again, I find Surfside's response extremely offensive and full of lies. A homeowner has the right to ask questions without getting attitude and sarcasm from the company. And the assertion that I made a scene really stumps me. There were three of us who went to the office and requested information after trying several times via email and phone to make a meeting. Nobody made a scene. Additionally, I know of at least two Board members who went to the office for information and were also left to conduct business in the lobby. Her personal attack on me is both unprofessional and rude. ************************ ****** Lastly, I find it ironic that it took me filing a complaint with the BBB until I received any meaningful answer. I emailed our community manager, then the Director, and finally the owner of the company and got no satisfactory answers. My complaint is more than just not liking their answers. I want them to follow the Master Deed and proper business practices.
