I verbally contracted with Benji M***** of ****** ********* *** *to paint 3 rooms in a house that I am moving into on *** ******** ***** in Laurens, SC, on or about May 20, 2024. I met him at the residence and he and I looked at each space and discussed the painting plans. He quoted me 1400 for the 3 rooms and hallway. I texted him and ask him if he painted the ceilings and closets, he told me that that was extra. I said My understanding that they were part of the rooms. He told me it would be 150 per ceilings in the 2 bedrooms and 200 for the one in the sewing room , and the closets would be 100 each, I said that sounds outrages to me I met with him to give him colors and gave him $450 cash on June 5, 2024. He started work on June 8, but did not paint the ceiling and closets. He finished on June 13, he texted me and said that the balance that I owed him would be 1750, he said if you wanna say 1500 even owed I'll throw the closets in for not bring more specific and causing the confusion. Sound good? So I paid him $ 1500 cash that day. even though he needed to come back and finish the doors. I have texted, sent pictures, message on facebook and called numerous times { in excess of 10} with no answers. He used the wrong type of paint on the doors and trim and it is peeling and he has not finished painting the doors. He said he would send me receipts by text, I never received one for the 450 or the 1500.
