We hired this company to do some handyman work, to include installation of 3 total ceiling fans and 4 outdoor lights, to be done August 14th/15th before we arrived. Originally quoted $400. They ended up requesting $525 due to a communication error between husband and wife. Communicated well and said they’d be back to finish the installation on the 15th before we arrived at 2pm. We arrived at 4pm and the job was left completely unfinished. Their responses have been unapologetic and unwilling to finish the work they were hired to do.

Had a verbal agreement with Rent a Husband to patch, repair and paint kitchen ceiling for $400. Price included materials and 2 gallons of paint. On June 8, Rent a Husband came out to home to begin patching. It was agreed that he would complete patch work on June 9 and complete painting of ceiling on June 23, as family is arriving on June 15. The morning of June 9, I received a text from Rent a Husband stating that he would not complete the job at the agreed upon price, and quoted a new price almost 3 times as much as agreed upon price. He suggested that I find someone else to complete the job. Shortly thereafter I began receiving daily harassing and threatening invoices for $125.

The customer is only been charged for the time and materials for the services actually rendered. After reviewing the original order from a previous Lead generating company the order stated to have two holes patched and painted not the entire ceiling. Upon discovering this I contacted the customer and explained that it would cost more money in order to paint the entire ceiling as it would take more time and more materials. The customer then responded and said They didn’t want our services. The customers only being billed for the materials and time to patch the two holes. In the invoice it states that if the payment is not made within seven days a late charge of $50 will be added. And then if payment is not received within 30 days a $200 charge will be added and legal action will be taken. I have tried to be more than fair with this customer and only charge them for the time and materials of the services that we provided. I’ve also told them that I would be willing to remove the late charge of the $50 and the $200 if they would just pay for the services that were rendered of the time and materials used to patch the two holes. At this point this is all we’re requesting is for the time and materials that we have put out of our own pocket. I felt like we have been more than fair in this situation as I have tried to work with the customer. We are not asking for anything more than what the service that we have provided.

The response from Rent a Husband is false. He was a contractor found on ****** ****. A couple of days prior to the job start date, **** dropped him as a recommended contract based on reported poor reviews. He pleaded with me to let him keep the job. He came over for 5 minutes to look at the job and I told him Specifically that I needed the kitchen ceiling patched and completely repainted. We agreed on a price. He came over the next day for 10 minutes to begin patching the 2 small holes in ceiling. He did not bring a latter or a drop cloth. As he sloppily attempted to patch the ceiling, I was on my hands and knees trying to clean up all of the falling mess, so that my dog would not eat it and get sick. Again we reviewed that the entire ceiling would be painted and I would pay for a portion of the paint. The next morning, I received a text that he would no longer compete the work for the agreed upon price, but would now charge me almost 3x the original price. He suggested that if that wasn't suitable, I should find a new contractor. I responded with an Okay. Shortly thereafter I received an invoice for $125? For what? There was no breakdown of cost. He was at my home for a total of 15 minutes. He used my ladder and I physically had to clean up his mess. He walked off the job, left me with a mess and regularly sends me threatening invoices of taking me to court and exorbitant late fees.

That is actually not the case at all. We were never employed or contracted by ***** therefore could have never been let go. The conversation that was made with the customer was that we knew ***** was charging a large amount for this small repair that if she wanted to cancel with them and hire us directly we would do what the original order with ***** was for $400. The original order was for patch and paint two hole on the kitchen ceiling. While we were there attempting to path the hole the customer never gave us a chance to clean up our mess as she was under my husband as he was trying to patch the holes picking up each small porch that dropped. We offered several times to clean up and she stated “no she would get it”. When it comes to mudding and repairs holes yes things do drop. We offered to clean it up as we went and she declined our offer several times. As with any minor or major construction project there will be a mess and if she was afraid that her dog would get into she could have kept him out of the room. I personally have dogs myself and if someone is in my house working I would make sure that they would be out of the way so the job could get completed. As far as the additional money goes yes more was requested once we were made aware that she not only wanted the two holes pained but the entire ceiling. The entire veil would take more time and more materials. There have never been harassing or threatening messages. As explained to her they were automated reminders of her balance due. As far as the additional late charges and fees that is clearly wrote on the invoice the the customer received as our term’s and conditions for non payment. Again we were simply asking for the time and materials that we did use while we were there nothing more. As I explained to the customer once we were made aware that the project was going to be larger than previously thought we kindly let her know that it would take more time and more money and gave her the option as to if she wanted to continue with the service or not. The quote given to her for what she really wanted was a far less amount than any painting company would have charged her. I felt we were and have been very upfront, fair and kind in this whole matter. Both the customer and her husband both continued to threaten and harass us even after several requests were made to both of them to stop calling and texting and to either email or send us a letter with any complaints.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
Everything that the business stated is untrue. I don't know what else I can do. The facts are as follows: After multiple times explaining Exactly what the job entails, the business agreed on the price. The business spent  a total of 15 minutes at my home. He did not bring a ladder or a drop cloth. He made a mess of my kitchen..He decided to not complete project for agreed upon price, and charged me with a of $125, which was not itemized continue to be threatened and harassed  with being brought to court and having to pay exorbitant late fees. After researching, the business has a history of similar behavior with previous customers.
