Criminals is all I can say. Over a month of waiting for a paycheck that never came. I call daily to be given a different story everyday. Blamed post office went to them and they checked every avenue to show that these people are liars. I spoken to make believe managers and case manager with no resolution. I plan on suing them and on board for anyone who is interested in doing a class action suit against this company.Review from Deanna R

Honestly everyone has already said what I was going to say. You upload the same info online a million times and it will say there is nothing more I need to do and they would reach out. Each time I tried to call it is next to impossible to get to a person and if u do they can’t help u because they need to get to your specialist who is never there, they also claimed in the online portal they tried to call me yet I have no missed calls or voicemails on the one and only phone number I have had for 20 years. Then they never ever even try contacting u again and just close ur case out when it hits a few months.Review from Daniel M

This company are thiefs. They short my check every time. I can never get ahold of my claims specialist. And the operator sounds like he's in another country. We need to do a class action law suit. WorstReview from Carolyn G

I have had a life insurance policy with this company for many years and on May 13,2024 I received a letter that my policy was terminated. I reviewed my bank records and I confirmed my “missing payment” cleared my bank account on March 25,2024. This company did NOT send any notices to me prior to canceling my policy. Please call or check your policy online!! They are not customer oriented. Every conversation that I have had with them I had to initiate. I was told someone would call me back but I have not received a call or email from anyone!!Review from Deb B

This company is abusive. I filed a claim for STD in early February. It is May 8 and they are still using delay tactics and asking for documentation that had previously been received. Impossible to speak with the specialist, unable to get a response, every five days they need another weird question answered or a date or a timesheet... abusive.Review from Tamisha W

If you waited for unum to respond you will be homeless. You literally will receive std payments when you go back to work. You never get a live person, they always refer you to their website to upload information I am consistently uploading the same documents for them to say there not received. You can't email a question or speak to your claims rep. They have no problem getting your payments from employer for coverage. But when it's time to give you back your own money. It's like pulling teeth. If I could give them a negative zero I would Worst service Ever!!!!!!!Review from Sarah M

I have had no payments nor final approvals from my leave of absence from March 12th and it is currently APRIL 29TH. I have had multiple chats and calls to numerous people. As stated by others in reviews, you keep getting a generic response or form stating they are waiting for those forms to be completed (which they are and faxed back MULTIPLE TIMES). When questioning what needs to be done for approval, I am told to submit dates of absence which I have and they have been denied. When I ask why they are denied, they say they are waiting for me to submit dates, which I have. They have stated paperwork is incomplete because the office does not provide a recent office note with submitted form they require, yet there is no information on said form that requests a recent office note. I receive texts and emails saying I have an updated correspondence, but when you click on the link, it just takes you to the summary screen and shows you nothing about what the updates are. Also, I was supposed to have received 3 checks thus far and have not. When I called about said checks I was told there must be an issue with the account number, so they need to do a stop issue and then reissue payment. This was back on April 16th. Today is April 29th and still do not have a paycheck. I was told it takes 5 business days to do a stop payment and another 2 to 3 business days to do a reissue payment, then another 3 business days to post into my account. So 2 weeks to get 1 paycheck? They are a horrible company. Every time I call, I spend hours on the phone and everyone gives me a different answer. Very frustrating. I have been out of work since March 12th and it is now April 29th and still no answer nor pay check. How is one supposed to pay bills?Review from Pete S

Sadly I must join the other one-star reviews and reveal the unethical and exploitative practice of UNUM. My mother paid into UNUM for decades for Long-Term Care even after the branch dissolved away. When she developed a brain tumor, and was needed round-the-clock care, UNUM paid for about three months and then discovered a loop-hole that they could exploit related to the professional affiliation of the care-giver. That "loophole" stopped all payments. Regrettably, they forgot to mention to us that payments had ceased and it took us a while to notice given that the money was going directly into our mother's account (and she was incapacitated), When we noticed, we called in a panic (as this was now amounting to tens of thousands of dollars and a compassionate UNUM employee, in a proverbial whisper, explained their idiosyncratic loophole and a work-around. We immediately complied with the work-around (costing us even more) and now, in full compliance with ever-shifting rules, they claimed that WE owed THEM money because the initial payments they made to us were made by mistake (referencing the loophole). So, now we say that they owe us about $80k and they say we owe them about $30k.... When we can get through, they offer stalling tactics like "I'll have to speak to my supervisor," but we NEVER hear back. This is now dragging on about 9 months and they have never initiated contact with us. They are an adept company at taking my aging mom's money for literally decades. But, alas, once it's finally time that she needs help and must hire a full-time aid, all of a sudden, they use tricks and subterfuge to manufacture "small print" loopholes as to why they are not on the hook. It's like a badly written screen play. We are discussing this with lawyers as we have found no other respite.Review from Tracy B

Unum is terrible. The benefits specialists do not update your claim until you initiate a call for status. They put the same generic letter stating still waiting on medical documentation. My doctor and myself submitted everything as requested and timely. They still denied claim stating they do not feel my condition is considered disable. I was on a temporary reduced schedule 20 hrs vs. 40 . Only needed the reduced time for 3 months. I was just trying to get compensated for the missed 20hours ?? What’s the point of having disability ins if you are not going to be covered when needed. I will be getting an attorney to helpReview from Greg S

One of the worse companies I have ever dealt with !!!!! Wish I could leave negative reviews l, they tell you two weeks to start getting funds for STD then a month later your still waiting to get paid as well the fact that they don’t communicate within each other blows me away when it’s all under the same app and company !!!! If I ever go into a company and they say Unum is apart of them I’ll will throw away my resume or quit once I find out Unum is part of then !
