Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct and Potential Discrimination Dear BBB I am writing to file a formal complaint against Ms. ***** ***** *****, a realtor with whom I have had a profoundly disappointing experience. As a public figure with a substantial annual income and an excellent credit score, I expected a professional and efficient process in securing a rental property in Tennessee. Unfortunately, my experience has been quite the opposite. Over a week ago, Ms. ***** ***** assured me that all arrangements were finalized for the rental property I was interested in. Relying on her assurance, I relocated from Texas to Tennessee, incurring significant expenses, including daily rental charges for a ****** truck and costs associated with staying in various ****** accommodations. Despite these expenditures and the considerable inconvenience, I have received no further communication or updates from Ms. ***** *****. During this period, I have been approved for several other properties, many of which are more modern and expensive than the one in question. This raises concerns about potential prejudice or discrimination influencing Ms. ***** *****’s lack of responsiveness. Given my financial standing and creditworthiness, there appears to be no legitimate reason for this treatment. The absence of communication and the unprofessionalism displayed by Ms. ***** ***** have caused me significant distress and financial loss. I feel compelled to question whether discriminatory practices are at play, which is both disheartening and unacceptable. I request a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate action to address the unprofessional and potentially discriminatory conduct exhibited by Ms. ***** *****. I trust that the [Real Estate Regulatory Authority/Association] will uphold the standards of professionalism and ethics that are expected in the real estate industry.

Please see the statement below from ***** ***** ***** as to what happened with the complainant..  See the attached police report as well as other text messages that he sent...Thank you for your help, please let me know if you need any additional information. .Thanks **** ******

On January 30th, ******** ***** called me, saying he needed a house move-in ready because he was relocating to Tennessee to be closer to his children. He mentioned that he had a ****** truck loaded and ready to go to Tennessee. He had submitted his application through ******. I informed him that the landlord would be away until February 10th. The owners are ******** *********** and **** ******. ******** was out, but I reviewed the application with ****, who denied it due to his poor credit score. I’ve attached a screenshot of our conversation. The reason for the denial was late payments and outstanding balances that had been closed by his creditors.

Despite his credit score of 625, he had several late payments and closed accounts with creditors, resulting in outstanding balances exceeding $400,000. Apparently, he has judgments open for these balances with ******** *******.

We were unable to verify ********** renter’s history. In fact, the contact he provided in his application reached out to us the same morning we filed the police report. I’ve attached a screenshot of that conversation as well.

After submitting his application, ******** began calling after business hours. Since he was very persistent on the phone, I cross-referenced his information in ********. It revealed that he had criminal records for domestic violence, which weren’t showing up on the ****** report because these charges were in Florida. Feeling unsafe, I decided to stop communicating with him.

You can track the phone calls on my ******* bill. I’ve highlighted them for you.

After February 3rd, I didn’t hear back from him, so I assumed he might have found another place or finally understood that we wouldn’t answer his calls after business hours. On February 6th, he called multiple times. On February 7th, ******** began calling my office multiple times at 5:35 am. He also sent me text messages and emails that same morning. In his emails, he threatened to file a complaint against me.

In a very short period, I became scared and felt unsafe. Minutes later, ****** ********, our office manager, texted me that ******** ***** was at the office.

Feeling overwhelmed and concerned about my safety, I decided to call the police. The 911 dispatcher advised me not to enter the office and stayed at the parking lot until Officer ********** of the CPD arrived and handled the situation. He asked ******** to leave the office because he had already informed him of the denial of ********** tenant application. ******** was aggressive and left the office, muttering, “**** you.”

I believe this situation was unfair and a form of retaliation for denying ********** tenant application. The denial was based solely on his financial situation and not on any form of discrimination. ******** had left the same negative review on ******, which has since been removed. He also sent me an email and a message on ****** under a false name. To top it off, that same day, someone attempted to hack my email, ********, and ********* accounts. I’m still in shock, disappointed, and still feel scared every time I see a car like ********** driving by my location. As a minority, I take discrimination very seriously and don’t tolerate such behavior. Furthermore, I vehemently denied ever having acted in any discriminatory manner.
