I had medical bills with Dickson Medical Associates which were the result of each visit to them. Every time I would go in for a visit and check in I would pay what balance I was advised that I owed which was not typically more then $150. Approx. 1 year ago I was notified by Experian that I had a collections account. Upon checking my report I observed various accounts placed with collections from DMA. There were four accounts with a balance of less then $150, two less then $300 and one for more then $1,500. I contacted DMA in January of last year and spoke with billing as well explained that I did not have knowledge of these balances and if I did I would have paid them. I was informed DMA still owned the accounts and that I had a balance of approx. $1,200. I made an ACH payment to DMA on that date and was advised they would be retracted from my credit report. After a couple of months they were still on my reports. I contacted ***** who is the supervisor in billing and explained that I had never been aware of these balances as well that I pay what it says I owe when I come in for a visit and that I made the previous payment in January. ***** informed me the employee I spoke with should not have taken a payment for those accounts as well informed me that none of the accounts make sense to her. ***** further advised that the accounts had been placed with collections in 2020 and that they have had issues with the collections agency they use not reporting the accounts as they should. ***** further advised they have had numerous customer complaints regarding this same issue. I advised ***** that I had no problem paying what I owe but I need an accurate total as well for the accounts to be removed from my credit reports. After months of communication with ***** attempting to resolve this ***** no longer responds to calls or is providing assistance with this error. I have been attempting to resolve this with DMA and not have this effect my credit which is no fault of my own.

My dear beloved wife ************ was hospitalized until she passed **** on 10/12/2021. Dickson Medical Associates (DMA) claimed they provided medical service to my wife. DMA had my wife's social security number and medical insurance info. DMA did not file claim to the insurance but sent the bill to a collection agency. The collection was reported to the credit bureaus. DMA's practice is totally not understandable and very suspicious. DMA shall file the claim with the insurance if their claim is legitimate. DMA shall have the collection record removed immediately.

    Business Response

    Date: 05/25/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 13, 2022/05/10) */ After being notified from BBB of the complaint against our practice. It was researched by the billing officer the reason behind the patients insurance not being billed. It was discovered the spouse of the patient (owner of the Insurance Policy) refused to provide his DOB to file the claim. He spoke to the patient Representative and it was explained he would be billed if we are unable to produce the DOB of policy owner. The insurance information was loaded in our system. Without the DOB the claim wasn't processed. The BBB agent offered to reach out to the consumer and explain the reasoning and to hopefully obtain the DOB. He again refused to provide the information needed to process the claim. If we are unable to gather all of the needed tools to complete a task. the task will be incomplete
