Disgusting and Unsafe: Do Not Stay at Cabin of the Smokies Our recent stay at Cabin of the Smokies was an absolute nightmare. The cabin was not only outdated and poorly maintained, but it also presented several serious safety hazards. The state of the cabin was appalling. We encountered filth, broken fixtures, and a general lack of cleanliness that made us question the company's commitment to basic sanitation. But what was even more disturbing were the safety issues we discovered. Loose railings, exposed wiring, and other potential dangers were blatantly ignored, putting our well-being at risk. When we brought these concerns to the attention of the office staff, their response was shockingly dismissive. They made it clear that they were not interested in addressing our issues or ensuring our safety. Do not make the same mistake we did. Avoid Cabin of the Smokies at all costs. Their disregard for guest safety and basic standards of cleanliness makes them an unacceptable choice for any traveler.

We arrived and found the hot tub dirty. We immediately notified the management, but despite waiting for four days, no one ever showed up to clean it. Although we were charged a $45 cleaning fee, it wasn't clean enough for us to use. We contacted the staff twice, but still, no one showed up. Secondly, the fireplace didn't work from the outset. It's remote-controlled, possibly the batteries were dead, but we weren't willing to pay for batteries as it wasn't our responsibility. We came here for our honeymoon and paid for amenities like the hot tub and the fireplace, but we weren't able to use any of them.

The cabin that we reserved on the website is not what we walked into. The carpet had stains and was filthy. It looked like they have not dusted in six months, The chair in the living room looked like it came from the curb. The downstairs toilet was not sitting right. It felt like it was going to fall over. We spoke with the office several times and they said they would put in a order. After wasting the next day, the maintenance man came ant took pictures of all the issues and of course put in a oder. Housekeeping came and cleaned but had to put in a order, Heard nothing from them for the rest of our stay. For the price you pay to stay in the cabin and what you get is disgusting. Do not stay at one.

We booked a “luxurious” cabin in the mountains, upon arrival after paying the full amount of $3,366.72 for 6 nights, we found the cabin to be unfit for humans to stay. The pictures were deceptive. The cabin looked beautiful in the pictures. There was a pool & hot tub. In reality, the hot tub had no cover, bugs in it & 76°, the pool had dirt all at the bottom, their beds were dirty with old linens, there was a bed that had no blankets, the floors were so dirty you had to wear shoes, there were bugs in the cabin, there were missing light bulbs, the curtain rods were all bent, cobwebs everywhere, massive amount of webs behind headboards which were slated, every horizontal surface was dirty, food wrappers on the floors, food & stains all over the couches(which were not the ones depicted in the pictures online), trash in the pool area, other people’s clothes left in the beds, a sliding door to the outside that wouldn’t lock, all dishes were dirty, cabinets were broken & run down, kitchen water faucet sprayed on you, area rug rolled up at the edge to trip on at the top of the second level, fridge water line was obstructing the walk way, doors off of the hinges, foosball table’s leg was broken & caved in, not all the arcade games worked. It looked like this cabin has been neglected for years. They got us because their policy says “no refunds”. We immediately called the company within the hour after discovering the inhabitable conditions. The desk person responded by saying “the cabins are old”. It was unsanitary & unsafe! We asked to speak to the manager. He said their manager was not in & if we had issues, we needed to stay until Thursday(we arrived Sun)& their management team only meets on Thursdays (scam, they get you to stay with no recourse). This cabin company must be stopped! They are doing this to so many unsuspecting guests. The other guests accounts were after they stayed there, we did not! How can they legally charge us for non-receipt of goods/services?!

Thank you for sharing your detailed experience regarding your recent reservation. We sincerely apologize for the dissatisfaction and inconvenience you encountered.

We understand your frustration with the situation, especially given the discrepancies between the cabin as advertised and what you found upon arrival. It is our goal to provide a pleasant experience for our guests, and it seems we fell short in this instance.

However, we would like to clarify that had you given us the opportunity to address your concerns, we could have explored other options for you, including finding a replacement cabin if we could not resolve the issues within the cabin rented or discussing possible resolutions directly. By choosing to dispute the charges and leave without allowing us to assist you, the matter then fell into the hands of your financial institution for review, removing our ability to resolve the situation more effectively.

Please know that we take your feedback seriously, and we will be reviewing our processes to ensure that all cabins meet our quality standards.

    Thank you for your understanding.

We - 3 couples - stayed in a cabin for almost a week (second week of October). This is what we found. Dirt and stains on a bedroom pillow, carpet in bedrooms were filthy, recliner in upstairs was unusable (beaten to death), chair on porch sitting there in pieces, one small table there, with one working chair (this was a cabin for up to 10). We called management, and to their credit, they did send someone out. But nothing was ever done. Later we noted there was no salt in water softener (it was in the laundry room, hard to miss). Checked the ac filter out of curiosity, was filthy. We also noted at night most of the light bulbs (string of lights) on the porch were burned out. We walked down to the lake - our cabin was on a hill - and nearly roller skated the whole way down. They used p gravel on the pathway. This is a law suit waiting to happen. The outside of the cabin itself is just plain dirty. Spider webs everywhere. After we were there a couple days, and we noted the additional problems, we called, and asked to speak to a manager. They said he would call us back. Never heard from them. It's a shame. This, at one time, was a very nice cabin. It is just not being maintained.

On April 25, 2024, we checked in at the Peachtree Castle outside of Gatlinburg, TN, in Sevierville city limits. Upon checking in we immediately called the 1800 # to complain. The home was filthy, the yard was dirty, and someone left poop in the toilet, and put a plastic seal over it as if the home was cleaned. When we called, we were prompted to call back on Monday to speak with a supervisor for help with a refund. Unfortunately and coincidently our check out was Monday morning, how ironic, NO ONE WORKS ON A FRIDAY? which was a regular day, no holiday (4/26/24). On the evening of the 25th all of our guests arrived, all the guests complained about cleanliness, one of the guests had brown stains on their bed and hair on it, and the bed sheets, were never changed, just the bed, neatly made. They finally agreed after I became irate that they would send a cleaning crew in the morning (4/26/24). On the evening of the 25th, my son was hurt in one of the chairs at the kitchen table, he sat in it and the chair broke. I called the company back again, this was the evening of (4/25/24) they said they would have it fixed in the AM when the cleaning crew came. The next morning they sent a crew, they did clean the house while we were out, but again as I had to call back again, THE HOUSE WAS HALF ASS CLEANED! We rented this home to kick back and relax, not to have to leave and go to the city and spend money because we needed to wait for them to clean it. None of the games in the home worked, that were advertised, jacuzzi was dirty as well, We didn't have any sort of TV or internet because it didn't work, it was saying the bill needed to be paid. Please don't quote me on the Date; I will send in corresponding documents for the claim.

I would never rent anything from venture resorts again!! Their refund policy is a joke and robbery! They kept $1,700 of my money when I canceled months ahead of time in 2023. They put my money in a escrow account which is complete BS. I had to use that credit within a years time or lose it. So we had a booking for September 26th-29th 2024 and I tried to cancel because of hurricane helene coming through which is causing unsafe traveling conditions. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge will be getting hit by this storm. They would not refund me still. So never again will myself, family and friends do business with Venture Resorts. We travel to TN 3 to 4 times a year. So you might have got me for $1,700 but you will lose thousands and thousands long term

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns regarding our cancellation policy. I genuinely understand how frustrating this situation is, especially during such challenging weather conditions.

We want all our guests to feel safe, and it’s unfortunate that our policy does not allow for exceptions due to weather-related events, including the impact of Hurricane Helene. While we strive to provide flexibility, our current policy requires strict adherence to guarantee fairness for all guests.

I truly regret the inconvenience this has caused you and understand your disappointment. Your feedback is invaluable, and we will take it into consideration as we review our policies in the future.

Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you reconsider us for your future travels to the area.

do not give this company your business, they do not care management is a joke. We stayed at A Bear Creek Cabin upon our arrival the following thing s were broken the refridgerator had no shelf above the drawers, the game room had broken chairs, the air hockey table had no air, four slice toaster there only one slice worked, no plugs for all four bathtubs they did false advertising had no fire pit no barbeque grill and the remotes for all tv"s had no batteries hot tub kept breaking down from day three on . Management s excuse was thing s break down. We called first thing Monday morning and was told the toaster would be replaced. toaster was never replaced until day 5 and that was only because they came out to fix the hot tub which wasn t until 4 p.m. and they down graded the toaster to a two slice toaster. the following day we couldn t use the hot tub again called the office they sent a repair man out two days later and he never showed up until 7 p.m. the next morning the hot tub was not working again gave up on calling the office because they don t care if I could give them a zero star I would but it only goes down to one star. Oh and by the way the office was so proud of themselves for giving us a $150.00 refund which came down to each family got $50.00 refund what a joke at the price we paid. the man came out for the hot tub 5 hours later the first time and the second time he came out was 10 hours later not to mention when we called the office we were put on hold for a half hour before getting put through to voicemail. and by the way when the repair man came out the second time for the hot tub he had informed us that fire pits were banned since 2017 and they advertised a fire pit. that was not their.

We rented “Dolly’s Dream” for our family vacation and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. When we first arrived, the cabin was super hot so and smelt musty. We set the AC to 60 trying to quickly cool the place down and the main level still never cooled down. We have seen multiple roaches in the kitchen and bathrooms. There’s a massive water leak somewhere in the lower level that’s leaving water sitting under the hardwood floors. All of the blinds on the windows have been tore all to pieces. The floors were so nasty that we went to Walmart to buy a mop and bucket because my son’s feet were charcoal black. The floors in all the bathrooms were sticky. The jacuzzi doesn’t work even though in my email they claimed that they cleaned and drained the jacuzzi before our arrival. The lights and TV on the lower level doesn’t work. When you look the cabin up online, the pictures do not match with what’s actually inside. The pool table is completely different (and broken/uneven). We called maintenance a total of 5 times over two days in which we were promised that someone would come out and at least take care of the AC issue. No one ever showed up and when we were told that we were put into the priority category, we were later informed that that was in fact not true and we were never priority. Overall, we were very unsatisfied with our stay here, especially for the price we paid to stay. The lack of help and communication did not help our situation either. If I could give negative stars, I would.

I should've looked at the BBB reviews first. There are MANY one-star reviews and after our experience, I believe they are all justified. TERRIBLE customer service with this company. First, and this was the least of the issues, our cabin's hot tub was green and leaking. We later found out that management knew about this for quite some time and rented it out anyway, knowing that a hot tub was one of our main requests. Then, on Saturday morning we awoke to NO WATER. Spent forever on hold with customer service. In the meantime, we couldn't shower, brush teeth, flush toilets, etc. As a result, we missed all of our activities scheduled for Saturday. We were FINALLY sent to another cabin, which was small and nowhere near the equivalent of the one we paid for. The new cabin was covered in cobwebs. Despite REPEATED attempts to speak with a manager, I was told that they do not take calls??? I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. They need to reassess how they do business.

We recognize that the hot tub being inoperable was a significant inconvenience, especially since it was an important request for your stay. Your comfort and satisfaction are our priorities, and we regret that we fell short.
