If I could give them a 0 stars I would... see Google Reviews for the full story. If considering business with Honda Kingsport, I STRONGLY advise seeking another dealership. They deceive about lending practices and insist on using only banks they select. During my mom's visit, they ran her credit without permission, ignored her prequal application through her credit union of choice, and pushed a different vehicle on her after stating "they wouldn't approve her for that one. Despite her approval from another credit union, they ran her credit again without consent and claimed her credit union was invalid and they could not sell her the vehicle unless she used a credit union of their choice, claiming she would get a better deal (they lied). She ended up with a longer term, higher interest rate, and even had to pay for the warranty that "they were giving her". Key points: - Disregarded instructions, ran credit without permission. - Coerced into their lender with false promises. - Refused to cooperate with her chosen credit union, offering unreasonable alternatives. - They misled her to profit, ignoring her preferences and offering worse terms. We'll be reporting to the BBB and exploring legal action for unauthorized credit checks. Avoid Honda Kingsport at all costs.Honda Kingsport Response

Thank you for reaching out and sharing. This does not sound at all like how we do business. We are not perfect, but there are sometimes some miscommunications and misunderstandings, but we would never purposefully do what is noted. We would love to find out who your mother is to make amends so please reach out to one of our managers and they will make it a priority. Our reputation is very valuable to us so we strive to never do what is noted here and we'll be dedicated to help resolve this if we knew who to contact.Review from Billie F

When I moved to Kingsport Tennessee from California in 2016, I had a brand new Honda Civic LX which I had leased for 3 years, When lease expired in 2018, I purchased the car from Honda Kingsport, along with extended warranties that I was told "covered everything." These 3 warranties cost almost $4000. I am a 64 year old female living on a fixed income and relied on Honda to be fair and honest with me. Unfortunately, they are not fair and honest. With the car getting older there have been repairs that I paid for and they never informed me. The most recent experience is that I had my front brakes replaced and they only told me a few months before and I had to save up the money. When they replaced them, they said I needed pads, rotors, etc. Why wasn't I informed before I spent $500 on brakes. Not to mention the wanted an additional $245 for brake fluid exchange. Seems that they should have done that with the brake system was installed. THEY DIDN'T. Next they said I needed a rear axle replaced. I had to tell them that I thought that my warranty covered that. They said they would look into it. Never called me for a month. I had to repeatedly call them. Finally they said yes it was under warranty, but they couldn't get the part. Never heard from them again. I called Honda Corporation and they told me the part was available. During this time frame of Feb 2023 April 2023, my car broke down on the side of the road. I called Honda and they told me I had to pay for towing which cost me $350. I don't have family for rides or another car to use so it has been very difficult without a car. The car is currently at Honda Kingsport. There was a defect in the transmission which caused it to lose transmission oil and they told me I had to pay for transmission fluid, which they quoted $245 . The warranty explicitly states all fluid lost related to the repair was covered. It goes on and on...Honda Kingsport Response

We always appreciate feedback and we’ve certainly done a terrible job communicating with you. We have attempted to reach out and will do so again. We only benefit if we do repairs, do only what is needed, and people are happy with us. We never benefit by not being honest…it would never work out for us. We can see that our terrible job of communicating would appear we are not honest, so we get it, but I assure you that is not the case. We will do all we can to give you reasons to trust us again.Review from William M

Honda Kingsport General Manager called us the next day. Once they received the complaint, he got involved and settled the matter to our satisfaction. It is not whether you or your staff make an error, it's what you do after it is brought to your attention that determines your quality as a person or as a business. The staff that played this off as being our problem to solve did not understand that basic principle, Mr. **** does.Honda Kingsport Response

We paid for title and tag service, and, when their contractor/owner failed to provide same, we were told we had to do it ourselves.Honda Kingsport Response

Me and my wife sold a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 with only 10k miles on it to Honda of Kingsport almost 2 weeks ago. Our sales rep told us it would only be a couple of days for the title process and they would cut us a check for the difference between the pay off and the agreed upon sale price. Two weeks later no check. Capital one got the pay off on the 23rd of February and mailed the title out February 24th. While my neighbor sold his truck to Carvana without title in hand and he was paid the same day the difference between his payoff and agreed upon sale amount. So, Honda can buy your vehicle sale it and make money off it but they will let you sit waiting for them to pay you the money they owe you. Their crooks everyone from sales to the shop the whole dealership is full of liars and conman. They have tried to take advantage of my wife numerous times when working on her 2016 Honda Pilot which has been nothing but horrible since we bought it. So, we took our service to LLoyd''s. Be warned Honda of Kingsport will scam you with fine print about warranties and will take their time paying you if at all when you sale them your vehicle.Honda Kingsport Response

Thank you for your feedback and we are embarrassed that we've dropped the ball to this extent. We have failed to communicate with you and internally. We typically give a check for the difference in the payoff and purchase price the day we purchase the car and we dropped the ball on all accounts by making you wait. We will train our people to make sure this never happens again.
We realize our industry doesn't receive the benefit of the doubt, but our main asset is our reputation and while we aren't perfect and drop the ball sometimes, our intent nor is our character that we are all "crooks, liars, conman". I'm confident that if you were able to spend any time at all with any of our management staff, it would be obvious that when we drop the ball, it's never intentional nor is it due to false pretenses.
We only succeed if our customers are happy and we do business the right way. We would love to connect you with our service manager to help you with your 2016 Pilot to give us a chance to make amends. Your next service is on us.
Thank you again for taking the time to share as we take these comments seriously. We will no doubt take your words to train our staff to ensure this never happens again.

Misrepresented warranty. Not bumper to bumper!! Refused to cover cost of repairs and labor for a what we were told by AUL was a known issue with Honda Pilots. However they made me feel like I hadn't taken care of my vehicle when in fact I had taken care of it. Honda needs to fix my car!!Honda Kingsport Response

Thank you for your feedback. I think we have some confusion here because we are slated to fix your car and there certainly was no misrepresentation. We merely needed you to authorize the teardown for the warranty to look at it. As you can imagine, we just can't tear apart customer's cars without their approval.
Sorry for any confusion. Again, we've offered to tear it down, no cost to you, get the warranty company on it. There's no issues on our part on taking care of your Pilot. Although we've not seen your vehicle in over a year, as long as you are maintaining it somewhere, it's fine with warranty company.
We look forward to the next steps in getting your Honda fixed and again, we apologize for the confusion.
