    We wanted to share with your readers our insights on building a dream log cabin. In 2021 we retired to Tennessee to build a log cabin. We met with Ed ****** of Appalachian Log & Timber Homes in Knoxville TN who had prepared for our visit by printing designs, photos and timber estimates of cabins we liked. Ed educated us on log and timber options and told us to check with him and builder Dave ****** to ensure they could build the cabin we wanted on the land before we purchased it. They were extremely transparent. We met with a 2nd cabin company who was the opposite and simply told us that, ”They would decide what type of cabin we could have.” We selected Appalachian Log & Timber Homes believing they would provide us sound advice for the project, and as we went through design and construction, this was validated as they told us more cost effective ways to do something and if we did not need something. Appalachian Log & Timber Homes locked in prices on the cabin’s major components which saved us thousands of dollars and minimized supply chain delays. The builder also provided expert advice throughout the project both on structural and design issues. Appalachian Log & Timber Homes really cared about building us our dream cabin. They are an outstanding example of an honest, reputable, customer focused and caring builder. Selecting Appalachian Log & Timber Homes was the best decision we made. The result was they built for us a beautiful log and timber home that we will treasure the rest of our lives.
