A nightmare experience : their glowing reviews made them seem legit—until things got weird. Looking closer, many reviews are suspiciously clustered, with names tied to the company. I even found one person posting from multiple accounts They hook you with promises to “save you money” by working with insurance, but once you sign, you’re on your own. I was left handling most insurance communication. They had me sign a $13,500 contract claiming it covered everything (including my deductible if I skipped windows/gutters). I paid the deposit—then silence. A month later, they sent insurance a new $31,000 estimate, claiming my decking wasn’t up to code. This should’ve been caught in the initial inspection. They then claimed the original quote didn’t include the roof. How does a roofing contract not include the roof? Before insurance even approved the new quote, they delivered materials But Gold Medal refused to start without full insurance approval, telling me I’d owe the difference if not approved—everything sat for over a month Communication was awful—bounced between three people. Even after approval, they refused to give me an updated contract. The new estimate didn’t match materials delivered. I demanded everything in writing before work started. The day before install, I repeated my demand. Lady got flustered, accidentally calling me back while trying to call someone else—and was trash-talking me. The job was a mess: bloody fingerprints, sloppy cuts, cigarettes left everywhere, nails in hard, and a roof that failed inspection four times. Took over 6 months. Their lead guy had no roofing experience. Digging deeper, I found most staff—including the owner—had no background in roofing. They subcontract everything. I even called LARA after the job was completed so poorly and they had no records of the company or anyone even having the proper Licensing! Which is illegal. Hope to save someone else from this same Nightmare experience

We encourage honest feedback from all clients and maintain transparency in our business practices. 2. **Insurance Process & Contract** – We clearly outline the insurance claim process to every customer and work as a liaison, but ultimately, communication with the insurance provider is often required from the policyholder. The initial contract was based on the information available at that time. When additional code compliance issues were identified—such as decking not meeting safety standards—we had to adjust the estimate accordingly. These changes were necessary to meet industry and legal requirements. 3. **Communication** – While we strive to maintain timely communication, insurance approvals, material deliveries, and subcontractor scheduling can impact timelines. We apologize if you felt the process was unclear at times, but we did our best to keep you informed and ensure your project was completed correctly. 4. **Licensing** – Our company has the proper licensing and follows all local and state regulations. Our business license is publicly available through the state. If there were any concerns regarding licensing, we would be happy to address them directly. We stand by the quality of our work and have procedures in place to rectify any issues, including inspections and follow-ups. 5. **Experience** – Our team, including our owner, has years of experience in roofing.. otherwise we wouldn't have a business that could properly operate. Additionally, we have hundreds of real customer reviews that say otherwise that compliment that amazing jobs that our roofers do regarding superior service, cleanup (as good as the human eye can recognize without being a perfect human), quality workmanship, and a standing by the service and products that we offer.Review fromTeresa Z

I want to thank Zak for finding that I was able to have an insurance claim on my roof. To be honest I was very scared this was a scam. It turned out to be a legal transaction. Anthony and his crew did an amazing job. And within 6 hours they completed the job. I have been do remodeling on my home and this was one big thing that I won't have worry about now. Mine wasn't an insurance claim, out of my own pocket @1500 plus wood. They were out looking at hail damaged roof's in the neighborhood. My roof was ok, but I have a screened in back porch with a roof that is leaking. We did the estimate, I agreed, was scheduled(1st wk of Oct). Then, rescheduled to near the end of Oct. 24 2024 Day came around, nothing in the morning. The site supervisor came by @ 12:30ish. Looked at the roof, then said it was going to cost more than the estimated quote? Then went back to the other site down the block. I called Charles(the estimator/quote salesman). Received a call from Zach a mngr? ok. I said I wasn't happy (with the extra estimate @$600 to maybe an extra 1k.) Got it down to @ nothing more than $500. and they were still at the other job site, so can we do it Friday. Maybe Saturday? I made other plans. ah yeah. OK. And he said ""they would be there Friday @ 12-12:30"". Alright. I informed Zach, it needed to be done by Friday, About, 12:30-1:00 pm the site supervisor, dropped off the roofing materials and said, "" They were just cleaning up at the other site down the block and would be down in a few minutes"". That's what he said. So again, I wait. Nothing. By 4:20-30. I called Zack and asked what was going on. And he asked me, what was going on. I said Nothing. It's @ 4:30. I've been waiting since @ 1 pm for anyone to come down and start working. They're still down at the other house, I can hear the air hammers. I was not pleased. I told him, it was not acceptable. And I am cancelling the job, come down and pick up the roofing. And I want my money back the deposit $800. Two weeks later I get a check for only @ 244? And all's I heard were excuses for why I wasn't getting my money back. I agreed to the estimate/quote, agreed to the extra? And still no work done on my roof. Am not pleased. I went with them because they offered the lowest quote and a guarantee. But didn't guarantee any work done. my opinion. I would like my money.Gold Medal Roofing of Eastern Tennessee

THIS IS NOT AN INSURANCE CLAIM. It came out of my own pocket. They promised with the inspection: Scheduled date(which they rescheduled twice). Then another ""estimator"" came and added about a $1000.00 onto the ESTIMATE. I called their supervisor, and he lied about the first estimate, and would keep it below $500.(wood and extra shingles). They were working down the street from me, on the day of the 'RESCHEDULED' appointment, they dropped off the materials and told me they would be there in about an hour or so. Come nearly 4:30 that same afternoon. I go to get my mail, no trucks, no roofers or supervisors anywhere near my house. THEY WERE STILL ON THE HOUSE DOWN THE STREET. So after the 3rd time of being stood up, increased expenses(lying estimate)and they damaged my roof more when the 2nd "estimator" came out. (THE ROOF IS LEAKING NOW MORE THAN IT DID BEFORE THEY ""INSPECTED"". When I heard the roofers down the street, I called the COMPANY: Gold Medal Roofs in Grand Junction, MI and spoke to the supervisor of this crew. Told him they lied about the ESTIMATE, they lied about getting the roof done in an acceptable and timely matter. I told him, his crew was still down at the other house. no one has been there since 12:30 when they dropped off the roof materials. And I had informed them that I would be gone that coming weekend and that the roof needed to be done on that FRIDAY. WHICH IT WAS NOT. So I informed him that I was cancelling the job, and I wanted my money back. THAT 'S WHEN THE EXCUSES FLEW OUT OF HIS MOUTH. His crew "WAS IN THE AREA" and I was being charged to restock. They received from me an $800 deposit. of which they sent me a check for @$250. Is that THIEVERY OR WHAT. He said "Good luck getting my money back" VERY RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS but hidden threats about getting anything back. This company lied from day one, didn't do the work, and stole my money. But in today's world, I guess it ok to be CRIMINAL. NOT TO ME. If I'm asked to do a job, it get done in a timely matter. As quickly and as professionally as possible. Gold Medal Roofing returned my hope in dealing with contractors. My past experience was high prices, missed deadlines and poor communication. With Gold Medal Roofing they are very responsive, professional in every part of the process from helping me with my insurance company to the clean up once the job was completed. They took what would normally be a stressful situation and turned it into an enjoyable experience. Corey ***** from gold medal Roofing brought several employees on my property clearly marked with a no soliciting sign to inspect my roof without my permission. Then left their soliciting information hanging on my no soliciting sign and laughed about it as they walked off of my property uninvited.Gold Medal Roofing of Eastern Tennessee

Thank you for your review. After having a discussion with you in the street I thought I made it aware that we had just finished a roof install in your neighborhood and were checking with other homeowners to see is they wanted their roof paid for by insurance as well. As far as a no solicitation sign at the entrance of your subdivision goes, Knox county does not require a solicitation permit and although that may be a few homeowners preference, it is not the law. The workers from Gold Medal Roofing were amazing! They started at 6 am and worked non-stop until almost 8 pm to get everything done and cleaned up. These guys were nothing like the typical workers you find in this area – they actually worked hard, didn’t skimp on quality, and got the job done! I had the pleasure of working with Dave and David and they were absolutely wonderful. They made the whole process a breeze and made all of my worries seem very small. They were even able to help get me upgraded and were very accommodating and looked out for my family when additional charges because of worst damage became an issue. I would 100% recommend them to anybody who needs a new roof put on because they were so much more affordable but the quality in the work done was top notch.
