This company preys on vehicles in apartment complexes and others. We have one vehicle that has been targeted for towing repeatedly. We have had an authorized figure tell the company to STOP targeting our vehicle but they continue.Business Response

On 1/14/2025 a sticker from suprerior ******************************************** LLC placed a sticker on my car for tags. On 1/25/2025 they towed my car. And on 1/26/2025 I paid $225 in order to get my car off their lot. On 1/13/2024 they placed a sticker on my car for the exact same reason when I called ********* I spoke to ******* and told her that I had just paid the $225 showed her my title and bill of sale, in which ******* made copies of. Showing proof of owner ship to get my car from the lot. I then drove it away to show it is not broken down. She explained that they come around every month. I told her that it has not been a whole month since I've paid them $225 from them towing my car from the place which I live which is also a gated community. I asked her do they not keep track of the cars they tow and the amount of time they have been towed from date. She had no answer to my question. At this point I am being harassed by a towing company for me to pay them monthly. I believe it is unlawful and Extortion. I have not gave authorization for them to tow my car nor was it parked in a no park zone. I have called to voice my concern and they had to answer to give me.Business Response

On January 15, 2024 my car was illegally towed by Superior Automotive. I have been being watched and subject to surveillance by both the apartment complex security and the towing company. According to the Tennessee Statutes for Abandoned, Immobile, or Inoperable Vehicles, upon notice, an owner of an inoperable vehicle has approximately 7 DAYS to remove the vehicle or the vehicle will be subject to towing. I was informed of the tow January 14, 2024 around 11:00pm, approaching January 15 2024, the car was towed around January 15, 2024 8:00pm. The towing company gave me less than 24 hours to finish up repairs on my car. They stole parts, tools, etc., from me without my consent. These tools are around $1,000 worth of property damage; there was a CV axle, multiple *****stands, a tire, etc., all currently being worked on. A corresponding complaint with the ************************************** will be filed following this complaint.Business Response

Superior towed my vehicle on saturday morning but proceeded to tell me i couldnt pick my vehicle up till monday. if the yard is closed why did they take my car over the weekend?Business Response
Date: 01/06/2025
Office hours are posted online and on business. We are open Saturday and Sunday between 9:00am until 11:00am to release vehicles. If your vehicle was towed Saturday after hours, then you could have picked vehicle up Sunday during business hours. If you called after closing Sunday, then it would be Monday before we could release any vehicles. Our tow truck drivers are towing vehicles 24/7. Our office hours for releasing vehicles are Monday thru Friday from 9:00am until 4:30pm and every weekend (Saturday and ************** hours are 9:00am until 11:00am.
I could help explain in greater detail if you could provide me with your vehicle information and/or apartment complex name. As of now all I know is you have filed a complaint that your vehicle was towed on Saturday, and you believe you were not allowed to pickup said vehicle until Monday. But office hours are clearly explained on office window and over the telephone if you call in via a person or answering voice mail.

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention serious concerns regarding the towing practices employed by ********************************************************************** It has come to my attention that the company is engaging in illegal towing activities, including the unjustified removal of vehicles and the imposition of excessive fees that appear to be inflated beyond reasonable amounts.Several instances have been reported where vehicles including mines were towed without proper signage or notification, leaving owners unaware of the towing regulations in the area. Furthermore, the fees charged for the retrieval of these vehicles seem to be disproportionately high compared to standard industry rates.Such practices not only undermine the trust of the community but also raise legal and ethical questions about the companys operations. I urge you to investigate this matter promptly to ensure that all towing activities are conducted fairly and in accordance with local laws and regulations.Thank you for your attention to this pressing issue. I look forward to your response and any actions that will be taken to address these concerns.Business Response

On Nov 2 my car was unlawfully towed by this company citing my handicapped sticker was expired, however the way the expiration date was obtained was dishonest and unlawful. The way the sticker was placed, the person's name was in view from the windshield, and the expiration date was facing the backseat/rear view mirror. Additionally, not only was the expiration date facing the backseat/ rear view mirror the only way one could have seen it was to have opened the door and used a flashlight seeing as the car was taken at night. The actions taken on by the company were not only predatory, but unlawful as it is my belief the owner of the tow truck unlawfully entered my vehicle, or wrote the date HIMSELF, in order to obtain the expiration date on the sticker. I've included an image of the handicapped sticker.Business Response

The following pictures were obtained from my property manager that was sent by the towing company. From the way the tag was in the car, the towman would have had to ENTERED my vehicle to obtain that picture.
The 2nd picture is of the car which does not show a date

The 2018 ****** Sentra was parked in handicap with a temp. hang tag that the date was rubbed off. If you look closely at the temp tag you can see a date of 08/31/2024. Besides there should be a date for temporary hang tags, that is why there is a date area on the tag. So, the owner is aware the date was rubbed off and it was expired, therefor she was in violation of parking in handicap with expired temp tag. Pictures to follow to help see violation and explains no date visible until you tilt the angle of the pictures.
This was all explained to the owner when she came up to pick up her vehicle. I assume because the date doesn't show expired date rubbed off clearly, she can get away with parking in handicap.
Business Response
Date: 11/05/2024
The temporary handicap hang tag has a date area for a reason. You can see the date 08/31/2024 was rubbed off. Therefor owner parked in handicap with an expired temp hang tag and was in violation of the apartment complex rules and regulations. This was explained to her when she came up to collect her vehicle. We explained her temp hang tag was expired, just because she rubbed off the date (it was still visible.) Plus, you can't have a temporary handicap tag without an expired date not shown. Everyone has to follow rules and regulations.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:
It was never rubbed off. The tag was given that way. I fully understand that rules are to be followed. According to the law I can be given a $200 ticket for the expired tag. Understand that. However, by LAW are tow companies allowed to enter your vehicle to obtain that information? Per the picture, a date was perfectfully written. Wouldn't there be a smudge if it were wiped off or attempted to be?We keep harping on me not wanting to follow the rules; that's never been the case. MY ISSUE is my privacy being violated and my property being ENTERED without my CONSENT. THAT is the issue! According to the RULES, are tow companies ALLOWED to enter a resident's vehicle to obtain information needed to tow a car? THAT is my issue!

My car was towed from a handicap spot at my apartment complex in *******, ** called ******************** on October 30, 2024. I drive a silver 2020 ******* Elantra. I came home yesterday and backed in the handicap spot I came back down stairs from my apartment to make sure that my permit was up and it was. I came outside this morning and it was gone. Theyve towed my car before because the permit was not visible which is bs because when i went to the lot to pick it up, the permit was hanging in my window. Now the first time they towed my car I asked if they even got out of the truck to see if they have their permit up and they said no they dont get out and check so I asked them how they would know if I did or didnt have my permit up and she started stuttering and couldnt answer. Also, when I went to pick up my car the first time they towed me and I paid and got my receipt they had the wrong vehicle information. The *** and license plate did not match my vehicle so they towed the wrong vehicle. I dont have $225 to keep throwing away like this. Not only have you towed the wrong vehicle once before now youve towed a vehicle that had the handicapped permit. I also have a picture and video of my car from when I got home showing that my permit was visible just for this reason. I have the receipt that shows the incorrect vehicle information from the first time that towed me and a video thats date and time stamped from the second time they towed that shows my visible handicap permit. I just wanted to come here and complain. I have already filed a claim in civil court to have these fees returned to me as well as lost wages due to missing work because of their s**** **** I just want my car returned, if my car is returned I wont go through with the civil suit.Business Response

In response to this complaint. The vehicle in question was towed for having an expired handicap placard and being parked in a handicap. State regulations state that if parked in handicap vehicle must have current handicap tag or placard. We towed the vehicle in accordance to Tn state law and Tn landlord tenant act. Thank you for your time.Initial Complaint

In response to the complaint. We open our office on Saturday and Sunday from 9am till 11am. The city of ******* does not require us to open on weekends. We open as a courtesy for our customers. We are the only Tow away company who are open for the weekend. We do this so customers have an opportunity to retrieve their vehicles and not be without them for an extended time. We can not control what time customer decides to inquire about their vehicle.Initial Complaint

The superior towing company charged me ****** within 4 hours of picking up my car ,,they towed my car at exactly 6:56 am and they didnt answer the phone until 9:15 when their supposed to open up at 9:00 so they had my car for exactly 3 1/2 to 4 hours in the same day same morning,so why is the fee that much when maximum city ordnance for a tow fee is ******Business Response
Date: 10/10/2024
The City of Memphis raised the basic tow rate to $225.00 in November of 2023. As per the ordinance we charged the exact rate the city allows. Unlike other tow away companies that would charge an additional $30.00 for storage. The 225 is charged immediately as a base tow fee, We as a company did nothing improper in this situation.Initial Complaint

I have a 2000 ****** Avalon and it was towed to *************************************************************************, on 08/17/24, to my mother's apt. On the 18th I had a mechanic checking it and I needed to get an alternator and the battery charged, there was no sticker on it. On the 19th I went out to the car to make sure the doors was looked. Superior towed my vehicle on the 20th and lied like it had a sticker on it since 08/08/24. They had a picture with a sticker in the tow yard, no picture of the sticker on it at the apts. They rigged the paperwork to get to get money from me. They lied like they gave paperwork to the office and I was told that they didn't receive any paperwork from Superior towing.Business Response
Date: 08/28/2024
The owner of the 2000 ****** Avalon was given a warning issued on 08/08/2024 for violations of No Tag, and Inoperable (must be driven to leasing office). If not fixed and/or updated said vehicle will be towed on 08/18/2024 or afterwards for any/all violations listed.
Vehicle still had no tag/plates and Vehicle was approved to be towed and was towed away on 08/19/2024.
On 08/20/2024 Female called in arguing we didn't sticker her car. Explained multiple times to her by serval different people that we have pictures of the vehicle in questions on the day of the sticker placement. Woman didn't want to hear anything we tried to explain.
Owner ***************************** came into office with her daughter on 08/20/2024. Both were extremely aggressive and demanding. ************ lady and one of our managers showed them the pictures of the vehicle with the sticker on it. Picture has Date and Time Stamp. Once again both ladies complained and argued as they departed the office.
The owner ***************** came back into the office recording with her phone. Ask how much to pick up her vehicle tomorrow (the next day). $285.00 was explained would be the cost on 08/21/2024.
Please find attached Mutiple pictures of vehicle in question with the sticker placed on said vehicle. Date & Time stamped.
Business Response
Date: 08/28/2024
Please find attached the proof that was shown to the owner and her daughter. We always take pictures that clearly show date and time of picture on all vehicles being issued warning stickers for violations of property rules and regulations. We always verify with manager of leasing office or the staff before any vehicle is towed, to clearly make sure someone complied or was given additional days to update the violation. This vehicle had no tags cleared noted on day of stick and no tag or plate on day of tow. Both ladies never denied there was no plates/tags, just denied there was a warning placed on their vehicle. Regardless of the vehicle owner's disagreement, the vehicle was in violation of the property owners' rules and regulations and was towed per management request.
