    I have been a member of Anytime for over 4 years. My name is literally on the wall for 150+ visits a year. This August I was forced to move to another part of town after a tree fell on my home. During that fiasco, my debit card was stolen, perhaps by a worker or anyone really since there was a huge hole in my house. The card was quickly cancelled and I did not think about my Anytime membership, understandably given the circumstances. I have been going to another gym with the anticipation of returning to Anytime once the repairs on my home are complete so I had no idea the membership was cancelled. I got a call last week from a debt collector saying I owed nearly 300 dollars for four months of membership and late fees. I never received ONE email, letter or phone call from the gym. After four years of membership! I have seen very similar complaints on this site and several others. The gym responded to my ****** Review, knowing I could not comment further, claiming they have proof they contacted me but that is an unequivocal LIE. I will be filing a case with small claims court.

    TLDR: Debit card number changed due to fraud activities. Anytime Fitness never contacted me about payment issues. I didn't hear about this issue until it showed up on my credit report. I am now paying them $150 for services that were never rendered since my FOB was disabled as soon as the card number was declined and I was a month to month, auto-renew contract. This is a dishonest business practice. Anonymous Anytime Fitness team member, Please cancel my account -- even though my fob has been disabled since March ??. Please reply with a receipt of cancellation or I will have to call and leave a message everyday. Please work to fix your business process gaps in the future. Please notify clients about payment issues. It is bad business to let clients hear about auto-renew contract issues from a debt collector/credit report. After years of being a customer, I am disappointed by the lack of service and lack of values. Your email response also makes no sense "payments that are still from your account." I never received any emails or phone calls about that status of my account. Also, how is it reasonable that my subscription was past due when the FOB is disabled, the contract is month-to-month and I pay in advance? The honest approach, like most other subscription services, is that the auto-renew contract is disabled when the debit card number changes and/or service is disabled. I will also be reporting this lack of services rendered (theft) and lack of auto-renewal notifications to the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Your unscrupulous business practices will eventually eliminate your business.

    When accounts go past due, key fobs are shut down. Access to the facility is not available if the bill isn't paid. Below is just a sample of the call log that was made as a repeated attempts to rectify the situation, so to say that no contact was attempted is a blatant lie. Contracts specifically state that cancellation is to be made in writing either in person or by certified mail, neither of which was done, so the account remained open. This is standard business practice for any agreement. The account has been turned over to collections by our third party biller *** ********* after 90 days of repeated attempts to clear the account.     I never received any voice mails or emails. My phone blocks all unknown numbers, otherwisr, it'd ring all day with robo calls I never received any emails. No notifications of late payment were made to me. This is in violation of CFPB and FTC guidelines. California already made laws against dishonest auto renew policies. Your ****** reviews also point to a lot of disgruntled customers that are unhappy with this exact billing policy. Please modernize your payment methods, notification policies and auto-renew policies. It is unreasonable that a month to month, auto-renew contract could be past due when it is paid upfront and no service was rendered. I was past due on a future service? That doesn't make sense. Would ******* send me to collections? No, they would cancel the account like a reasonable business. Good luck with those bad ****** reviews still pouring in.
