On December 22, 2021 I called Bridgestone Warranty department which I was told to call after getting my tire replaced that blew up on I595 expressway for no reason at ************** in Plantation Florida. My car was purchased in April of 2021 and had a little over 12,000 miles on it when this occurred. I was told I would receive a call from Luke ***** and he would assist me. He did call me and said he would work on this for me. I had previously sent pictures of the tire on my initial call with Joy. After waiting about a week I reached out twice and did not get a call back after leaving messages for Mr. Luke *****. On the third attempt on January 5, 2022. I was clearly upset after Diana(not helpful at all) told me she could not transfer me and could not have some one else help me. I would have to wait for Luke *****. When I received a call from Luke finally he told he was sorry he can not help me due to government reasons due to the fact the ************** disposed of the defective tire that blew up as I was driving. Mr. ***** did not even offer to have the other tires inspected for my safety. This is a very poor way to conduct business for such a large organization. I need my tires inspected and reimbursed for the tire I had to purchase after my scary experience on the highway. my reference number is ******-from my initial call.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/01/18) */ We have received a notice through the Better Business Bureau for complainants Olga *******. Our internal records show that the complainant contacted Bridgestone Call center regarding a Flat tire/blow out on 12/22/21. Per the call log notes, Mrs. ******* indicated the dealership (*************** Plantation Florida) was "not aware of the warranty process" and sold Mrs. ******* a new tire and told her to file claim with Bridgestone. While we cannot comment on the conclusion of the "**************" that assessed the tire, we can state that the tire professionals at the Authorized Bridgestone locations are trained in identifying tire issues and in the execution of warranty claims. In this instance it appears the ************** technician inaccurately advising the complainant to contact our warranty line and disposed of the tire. We understand how experiencing a tire failure due to a road hazard is a frustrating event. Many times, damage can be done to a tire from an event (hitting a pot hole, hitting a curb, hitting a road hazard such as debris or other foreign material in the roadway, etc.) at some point in the past and the damage only becomes visible as the tire is used over time. It may be possible that at some point in the tire's life, perhaps not within the recent experience of the complainants, the tire did experience some unfavorable external interaction. Such an interaction could have caused internal damage which finally resulted in the tire failing when it did. However, as a goodwill concession for the purposes of customer satisfaction, we would like to offer a refund of 50% of the price of ONE replacement tire to installed on your vehicle. You will be responsible to pay for any installation costs such as balancing, mounting, disposal, applicable taxes, etc as this offer is towards the cost of the tire itself. This offer is only applicable for Bridgestone or Firestone product and does not apply to competitor tires. To take advantage of this offer you will need to contact Bridgestone directly at ************* Please provide reference number ******* to the agent, and the agent will collect additional information including phone number, address and confirm tire information. In addition, you will be required to email a copy of the invoice for the one (1) tire replaced to **********************. Please verify the tire information is included in the receipt and indicate reference number ******* in the subject email. Once this information has been received and verified you will receive the check within 60 to 90 days. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Consumer Response /* (2000, 7, 2022/01/23) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Thank you for responding in a timely matter to my complaint. This was not how it was handled when I spoke to Mr. ***** in your warranty department. I had to call numerous times. I understand that *************y did not comply with the agreement your companies executed contract so I will accept the 50% percent reimbursement you are offering me on one condition. I need to have an appointment set up at the nearest location to my residence to FULLY inspect ALL my tires that are manufactured by Bridgestone so I could finally feel safe that the other tires that are currently on my jeep are not defective like that one that blew up by simply just driving. Please keep in mind My car only had little over 12K miles on it at the time. Please advise by email or phone call regarding my appointment. Thank you. ************

This is for 2004 *****: The car was taken to the dealer for alignment and we were told the front tires are defected, called Out Of Round and provided us with a video. We bought the tires from the Tires Plus on 7601 W. 119th Street on 11/09/2019 and they are still under tires warranty. When we took the car to the Tire Plus the Service Manage agreed to replace all four tires but the Store Manager refused to honor it due to the facts; He has never heard of the term "Out Of Round"!! Since they replaced a defected tires in the past this time we are not eligible for a total replacement! We did not choose the tires we were recommended to buy them and we trusted the advice. The Warranty does not exclude any sort of defects but I have been told by Tire Plus the "Out Of Round" does not qualify for a full replacement". Since then we have contacted the headquarter, Bridgestone, and have contacted other Bridgestone locations. We were told by other Bridgestone locations the Out Of Round tires need to be replaced but you must go to where you bought the tires.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/12/17) */ We are in receipt of the BBB complaint regarding Bridgestone tires that were installed on a 2004 ***** owned by ***** ********. We regret that our tires did not meet the complainant's expectations. Bridgestone brand tires supplied as replacement equipment carry a manufacturer's Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty has specific eligibility requirements and exclusions which are outlined in the warranty manual, a digital copy of which can be found at https://www.bridgestonetire.com/support/tire-warranties/full-warranty/. One **** note from the details in the warranty manual that the tire "must not be worn to 2/32" or beyond of remaining tread depth for the Limited Warranty to be valid. According to Bridgestone call log records, on 12/16 Mr, ******** called the call center reporting vibration/harsh ride and noted his concern regarding Tires Plus not honoring warranty. Bridgestone has reached out to the Tires Plus location references in the complaint. The Tire Plus technician (*****) noted that the current tires on the vehicle (****** H/L 422 PLUS 225/65R/17) were measuring 7/32 (Front) and 6/32 (back) of tread depth. This indicates the tires are worn beyond the 2/32" and the complainant is not entitled to any warranty consideration for the two tires. In addition, the Tire Plus technician confirmed the complainants reference to previous claims in which the complainant returned tires under the same condition (Claim dates: 11/19, 8/13, 4/11) and therefore Tires Plus chose not to offer any goodwill or assistance. We regret that we cannot offer any other remedy for this situation. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint. If there are any other item related to this matter, the complainant can call our Bridgestone directly at XXX-XXX-XXXX and ask for the tire technical services group. The complainant can reference Bridgestone reference number XXXXXXX. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/12/20) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) We are not disputing the tire tread depth, the problem with the tires per the Lexus dealership is that they are "out of round" and need to be replaced prior to doing an alignment on the car. The Bridgestone warrenty manual received when we purchased the tires, indicates a free tire replacement period of up to 3 years from the date of purchase. During this period, the tire **** be replaced free of charge (including mounting and balancing). These tires were purchased on 11/9/2019 and are still under warrenty per the manufacture. The video from the Lexus dealership was shown to the service manager, Bryan and he agreed that the tires needed to be replaced. He even ordered the new tires and we made an appointment to have them put on. When we arrived for the appointment to put the tires on, the store manager ***** refused to put the new tires on. Tires Plus needs to honor the warrenty that was provided to us when we purchased the tires. These tires have NOTHING to do with our previous tire purchase. We have a warrenty with Bridgestone on these current tires and Tires Plus needs to abide by the warrenty that was given to us on 11/09/2019. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/12/22) */ We are in receipt of the BBB response. The complainant correctly identifies that the Bridgestone Limited Warranty provides a free tire replacement period of up to 3 years from the date of purchase. However, this section also describes that the coverage is subject to the limitations and conditions in the section "What This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover." As indicated in the referenced section, Bridgestone's Limited Warranty, explicitly does not cover Tires beyond 2/32 inch (1.6 mm) of tread wear use, ( limited to no more than two (2) tires per vehicle) . As noted previously, the current tires on the vehicle (****** H/L 422 PLUS 225/65R/17) were measuring 7/32 (Front) and 6/32 (back) of tread depth. This indicates the tires are worn beyond the 2/32" and the complainant is not entitled to any warranty consideration for the two tires. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Consumer Response /* (3000, 13, 2021/12/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) It is obvious our respond on 12/20 did not explain enough!! This matter has nothing to do with the depth (tread wear) of the tires. The issue is the front tires based on my dealership's assessment that I've gone to since I bought the car, the front tires are "Out of round" in another word they are "defected". The Video was taken on tires by my dealership was shown to the service manager, Tire Plus. He knew what the term "Out of Round" means and "ordered" the tires. The next appointment we brought the car to the shop and met with the store manager. He must not have looked at the complete order by his service manager!! The store manager measured the depth of tires which they were exactly what my dealership had them down for the service. We initially took the car to the dealership for alignment. They could not do the alignment because of what was on the report, Out Of Round Ties are causing the vibration. I found this very interesting; We bought tires there before and we never "selected" them, the Tires Plus "sold" them to us. It's not like we selected defected tires!! The term was understood by one by rejected by the other one. Both my wife and I are educated people and read the warranty and understood it. Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2022/01/03) */ We have reviewed the facts associated with this matter, both from the complainant's descriptions and with direct interviews with the tire technicians at Tires Plus. Regardless of what the ***** auto dealer may be asserting, the facts of this matter do not change. The tires come with a limited warranty to cover issues of ride complaints. That warranty specifically requires that any ride complaint issues (which can be caused by any reason including what someone might refer to as "out of round") must be submitted within the first 2/32 inches of tread wear. The tires in question are worn well past the 2/32 inch requirement and therefore do not qualify for any limited warranty remedy. We regret that we cannot make any additional goodwill offers to this complainant as we believe that this is a condition caused by the vehicle and not the tires. Please note that the complainant is entitled to pursue any dispute through an arbitration process as indicated in the limited warranty manual.

I bought a new 2016 ****** that came with Bridgestone tires. I haven't even reached 25K miles on the car and 2 tires are very worn down, to the level of the treadwear indicator on the tire. I called Bridgestone and was told that "original equipment" tires carry NO warranty. I asked why and he stated that "they just don't". I can find the same type of tire for sale in stores now, for over $200 that carry mileage warranty, but Bridgestone claims they are made with different rubber composition than the tires provided to dealerships for their new cars. It is a softer rubber composition for quietness and smoothness of ride and he stated it was at the request of the dealership. He wouldn't admit it was a "lower quality" tire but if they don't put a warranty on it then that should tell you it definitely is a lower quality. The car has had routine maintenance including tire rotation and regular checks of tire inflation, hasn't been in an accident and is only driven around town. On the phone Bridgestone won't stand behind the quality of their tires and wouldn't help me out at all. It's all a con, and reading through other complaints it sounds like they've been doing it for a while.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/12/08) */ We have received your communications regarding your 2016 ******* including your letter and your call into our Technical Services department. We regret that our Bridgestone tires did not meet your expectations. Bridgestone brand tires provided on a model year 2016 ****** Highlander which carried the Bridgestone brand name would most likely have been DUELER H/L 422 ECOPIA tires. Tires supplied as original equipment on new vehicles meet or exceed all specifications from Manufacture and carry a manufacturer's Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty has specific eligibility requirements and exclusions which are outlined in the "Tire Maintenance, Safety and Warranty Manual: Original Equipment Passenger and Light Truck Tires." A digital copy of this manual can be found at www.firestonetire.com/customer-care/tire-warranties/full-warranty. It is important to note that tires sold as original equipment do not carry a Limited Mileage Warranty which would cover mileage. Therefore, there is no expectation that the complainant is entitled to any compensation or consideration for tires which are in need of replacement for wear-out after traveling 25,000 miles. There can be many factors that contribute to tire wear. Improper tire inflation is one potential. Even in tires with some TPMS systems, tires can be above or below the manufacturer's recommended inflation pressure without the knowledge of the driver. We recommend checking tire inflation pressure at least monthly. Certain driving maneuvers can also contribute to a tire's wear rate. Hard braking, fast acceleration, fast speeds, hard cornering and the like all contribute to the life of a tire. Road conditions and road construction materials can also be a factor in tire wear. And finally, the lack of proper and frequent tire rotation can make a substantial contribution to tire wear. While one may be tempted to look to the tire construction as the sole contributor to the rate of tire wear, we offer that there are many other factors that are potential contributions. The complainant compares the original equipment tires supplied on the vehicle to replacement tires that are available in the replacement market which may come with tread wear warranties. Bridgestone offers warranties that are market competitive for many of the tires we manufacture. Depending on the type of tire, the performance, the technology installed in the tire, Bridgestone has a wide range of mileage targets for those tires that carry a limited mileage warranty. In no case does Bridgestone currently offer a warranty to cover mileage on tires supplied as original equipment to vehicle manufacturing companies. This approach is consistent amongst most major tire manufacturers. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this matter. If there are any further concerns, you can contact Bridgestone directly at ************ and ask for the tire technical services group, utilizing reference number********. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/12/11) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Thank you for the reply, however your response is the exact same response you give to every other complainant on this site. Very generic and canned responses show you don't care about your customers. If all of your statements were true then I wouldn't be filing this complaint. Living in So. California suburbs we don't drive in inclement weather or mountainous areas. I don't brake hard, I don't drive aggressively, I don't drive in snow or off-road and as this is a family car, I always drive conservatively and carefully as proven by my exemplar driving record with no accidents and no driving/speeding tickets in my full 20 year driving history. Thank you for taking the time to respond. If you care about us as customers and want to keep our business please contact us and offer a prorated credit towards new replacements for these tires.

We purchased 4 Bridgetsone tires from *** Automotive Repair LLC in Vineland NJ on 8-26-21. They didn't have the Bridgestone form at the time. 1 week later we got the form and then filed a claim online. We filed 2 times because Bridgetson didn't have *** Auto listed as a dealer and we had to add them on the Bridgestone website. We received no email confirmation or anything. Bridgestone states that you must wait 4-8 weeks for the rebate. We waited and then checked our status. We could not find our submission and then We emailed Bridgestone on 10/25/2021. AS of 11/9/21 we received no response. When we called, we were told it was too late that there is nothing they could do about it as they couldn't find out submission.

Bought a 4 pairs of LE Destination 2 Tires with a 60 mile warranty in 2019. After 24K miles, the tires are due for replacement after some mundane driving over the last year. I have bought several tires from Firestone/Bridgestone over the 2+ decades of driving. The store off broadway (************* Littleton C0) did a top notch job of looking at my tires and offering a warranty claim. I appreciate them and their work with me. The invoice and quote has been attached. Still, I am disappointed by the quality and durability of these tires. I'm curious if could offer an extra discount of your discretion on the tires and service considering our disappointment and customer history of purchasing tires at Firestone.

I bought a new ***** that came with Firestone tires. The tires wore out before I reached 20K miles on the car, and I was advised to replace them. I independently confirmed this. I was told by ****** and Firestone that lequipment" carries NO warranty. So despite me having to replace all ; tires before 20 K miles, I had to pay the full cost of this. Why does Firestone (and ******) get away with putting garbage tires on a new car with no responsibility to cover these when they prematurely fail?

      Business response

      11/18/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/11/01) */ We are in receipt of the complaint regarding Bridgestone tires that were installed as original equipment on a ****** Camry owned by Mitchell *****. We regret that our tires did not meet the complainant's expectations. From the complainant's submittal, it is unclear which tire was actually installed on the vehicle. We have reviewed our records and did not find any additional information pertaining to this customer. Bridgestone brand tires supplied as original equipment on new vehicles carry a manufacturer's Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty has specific eligibility requirements and exclusions which are outlined in the "Tire Maintenance, Safety and Warranty Manual: Original Equipment Passenger and Light Truck Tires." A digital copy of this manual can be found at https://www.bridgestonetire.com/content/dam/bridgestone/consumer/bst/PDF/GM_OE_Warranty_EN.pdf. Bridgestone's Limited Warranty, which is provided on the original equipment tires supplied by ****** on this vehicle, explicitly does not cover "Rapid tread wear or wear-out." Further the warranty document clearly states that "Original Equipment tires have no mileage warranty.' Therefore, there is no expectation for any compensation or consideration for tires which are in need of replacement for wear-out after traveling 20,000 miles, or at any mileage. Since the complainant has already purchased replacement tires for the vehicle, Bridgestone is unable to provide any relief in the form of discounts or refunds for the tires purchased. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this issue. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/11/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) Basically they are saying that they are allowed to sell an inferior product because it is "original equipment". No reasonable person purchasing a new vehicle would expect the original tires on the vehicle to be needing replacement prior to 20 K miles, which is what happened with my tires. It appears that Firestone (Bridgestone) has decided that it is fine to sell garbage tires because they can get away without any mileage guarantee. Good for them. I will NEVER EVER in my entire remaining life purchase a tire from this company, and I will do my best to advise all my friends to avoid this brand. If they want to sell inferior products that they can pass off as "original equipment" without a mileage warranty, then they should accept that they are seriously tarnishing (read that as RUINING) a previously fine reputation that the Firestone brand used to have. If the Firestone brand had any self respect, they would refuse to equip new cars with tires that are clearly and definitively inferior and are unsafe. They are, by definition, unsafe because no reasonable person anticipates their tires becoming so worn by 20 K miles to need replacement, so people are driving on tires that are almost bald well before 30K miles, WAY before anyone would really worry or even think about having to check the tread depth. Firestone therefore is contributing to a higher accident rate on our roads because of their willingness to sacrifice quality for money. Shame on them. I hope that there are lawsuits against them for this reprehensible behavior, which allows them to justify risking peoples lives so that they can make a few extra bucks. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/11/11) */ We have received your response. There can be many factors that contribute to tire wear. Improper tire inflation is one potential. Even in tires with some TPMS systems, tires can be below the manufacturer's recommended inflation pressure without the knowledge of the driver. We recommend checking tire inflation pressure at least monthly. Certain driving maneuvers can also contribute to a tire's wear rate. Hard braking, fast acceleration, fast speeds, hard cornering and the like all contribute to the life of a tire. Road conditions and construction can also be a factor in tire wear. While one may be tempted to look to the tire construction as the sole contributor to the rate of tire wear, we offer that there are many other factors that are potential contributions. While we appreciate your frustration, we are discouraged by the tone and accusations in your letter. Bridgestone tires meet or exceed all specifications of the original equipment vehicle manufacturer, in this case ******. We categorically deny there is any merit to your statement regarding the manufacturing of the tire. Our products lead the industry in performance and technology. And if those products do not meet expectations we honor the commitments we make to our consumers according to the written terms that we publish in the warranty manual We appreciate the opportunity to again respond to this matter. Consumer Response /* (3000, 13, 2021/11/12) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The ****** dealership was in no way surprised or even disturbed by the fact that all 4 of my tires were worn out before 20 K miles. In fact, I can only interpret their reaction as indicating that this is a highly common scenario with the original equipment tires from Firestone. In other words, it is apparently well recognized by ****** that the original equipment tires wear out exceedingly quickly and well before a new car purchaser would expect them to. I therefore maintain that your company is selling original equipment tires that are far inferior in quality (read that as durability) to the typical tire that most people would purchase for their vehicles. Your "original equipment" tires should come with a black box warning that one should expect the tires to last no more than 20-30 K miles (at the most, apparently), and that early inspection of the tires for the need to be safe on the road is absolutely necessary. Business Response /* (4000, 15, 2021/11/15) */ I'm in receipt of your response and it appears we are at an impasse. We can offer no additional assistance at this time.

My dealer mentioned at 15K miles that my tire thread was 3/32 to 4/32 for the rear two and needed replacement. Having such low miles and car hardly used I had a conference call with Greenwich ***** dealer and Birdgestone warranty Department ( ******* and *****). The conversation landed up with my dealer not wanting to do the tire work due to bridgestone warrant terms. Bridgestone asked me to choose the nearest firsestone. At the time I called I had around 17K miles and I was told 61% coverage. The firestone was far away and I couldnt make a trip sooner and by the time I made I had around 18K miles. I spoke with ***** and she said she will cover 51% and Firestone poeple said ~30's %. ***** was rude and told me she will hang up when I had a bad signal and asked her to confirm reference no and number that firestone had to call for 50% coverage due to the discrepancy. Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/10/20) */ It is important to note that tires sold as original equipment on the ***** Odyssey do not carry a Limited Warranty which would cover mileage. Bridgestone brand tires (including Firestone) supplied as original equipment on new vehicles carry a manufacturer's Limited Warranty. This Limited Warranty has specific eligibility requirements and exclusions which are outlined in the "Warranty Manual (Original Equipment Tires)." A digital copy of this manual can be found at https://www.bridgestonetire.com/support/tire-warranties/full-warranty/ In reviewing the call log information, Mr. ***** was informed Bridgestone's Limited Warranty, explicitly do not cover "Rapid tread wear or wear-out." Further the warranty document clearly states that "Original Equipment tires have no mileage warranty.' Therefore, there is no expectation for any compensation or consideration for tires which are in need of replacement for wear-out after traveling 18,000 miles, or at any mileage. Notwithstanding that the complainant is not entitled to any remedy for rapid tread wear, the agent offered a goodwill concession using a prorated discount based on actual mileage driven. The percent of warranted mileage is calculated based on total miles, warranted miles and remaining tread depth. At the time of the call Mr. ***** mileage was alleged to 14,500. Using 50,000 /Warranted Miles as goodwill concession, the prorated discount calculation resulted in a 61% discount off the purchase price for the cost of the replacement tires. However, at the time Mr. ***** visited the store the mileage on the vehicle was 18,900 which resulted in a 50% proration. The Calculation used to determine percent of warranted mileage can be found in the Warranty Manual for replacement tires located at https://www.bridgestonetire.com/support/tire-warranties/full-warranty/ Again, the offer provided by the agent was a goodwill concession as Original Equipment tires have no mileage warranty and therefore will not be increased and is considered best and final. The complainant can still utilize our offer to receive 50% off the purchase price of the tires at any authorized Bridgestone retail location. The offer is valid for 30 days. The complainant must pay all applicable costs associated with installation (mounting, balancing, taxes, disposal and the like). The complainant is encouraged to call the store prior to bringing in the vehicle to ensure that the selected Bridgestone or Firestone brand tires are in stock. The complainant must use reference number ******* for the store to make the appropriate adjustment. I wasnt informed that at when I would go to firestone then at that point whatever would be the mileage would be considered for the % off the purchase which in this case got changed to 50% now. I incurred this loss including having to travel to a firestone which is an hour away from where I am given that Bridgestone and my dealer from whom I purchased the car couldnt work things out. Although I do appreciate the courtesy that Bridgestone is offering the fundamental issue is that the tires were of bad quality to reach 3/32 at 15K miles. If I coulndt make a trip due to the distance Bridgesone should have adhered to the 61% coverage which they agreed on the phone. On top of all Kathy was rude and threatened to cut the phone line when I repeatedly asked her to confirm my understanding on the terms and condition. Mike who was my car dealer also experienced her rudeness and you can have that confirmed via Greenwich *****. On top of that firestone when they called me gave me another option of 35% when they went though their system with no labor. However with 50% offer they would have labor charges. So here I am with all these confusion and charges which dont seem reasonable even after a discount as I could get similar price installed from ****** or ***** at a similar overall cost. My time and effort overall to coordinate and understand this complicated process has been endless. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2021/10/21) */ I'm in receipt of your response, and while we understand your frustration, we will not offer any additional remedy and respectfully cannot honor the complainant's request to offer any additional credit for the tires. The offer provided by the agent was a goodwill concession as Original Equipment tires have no mileage warranty. It should be noted the proration offered, is the same proration that would be applied to any eligible replacement tires. We can not comment on the offer provided by Firestone directly but always encourage consumers to research their purchase to identify the best option based on their needs. We appreciate the opportunity to respond to this complaint. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2021/10/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I dissatisfied with the overall offering even if its a goodwill concession its not really addressing the matter no in actual terms a real concession.
