In August and September 2020 I made a few payments to marriage helpers international and the promise of a retreat and workbooks. I was going through a divorce at the time and after paying right now ex-husband refused to join the retreat I never signed any documents and registration or during the payment that said that the payment was nonrefundable. I gave nearly a three week notice that I would not be able to make the retreat and was still not giving a refund. When I contacted the company they said that there was nothing they could do about it and all payments were final I have attached the receipts and the invoices that I received I paid a total of $******* and reviewed nothing. I believe the company praise on people in their most vulnerable and week times looking for answers or anything to help prevent a divorce and that is when they financially take advantage of men and women. I have reached out to the company asking them for records of which they cannot provide anything that I've signed or even all of the receipts for the payments that I've made.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/07/03) */ Contact Name and Title: *************** Contact Phone: ************ Contact Email: **********************.com We first spoke to ***** 6/24/20. After the call, she requested information on the three day workshop. She reached out again in July inquiring about a military/first responders discount as her husband was a police officer and both of them served in the military. She was given $*** off the quoted price for the three day workshop. On 8/12/20 ***** notified her client representative that her husband had agreed to attend the three day workshop. At that time a lengthy email correspondence began to find a date they could attend the online workshop when they did not have their children with them. She wanted 9/11 but there was an issue with her husband in that he had to work four hours on Saturday; however to get maximum success with our workshops, we require both parties be in attendance the entire three days. She asked for an exception but we knew the section he would miss would be particularly applicable to their situation so the client representative told her no for that weekend. On 8/26/20, ***** informed this client representative that they will attend the workshop on September 25 and asks for a payment plan. The client representative provides her with a contract (attached herein) which she signs (see proof of signature), acknowledging the following refund policy: "The registration fee for the WORKSHOP is refundable, minus a $300 administrative fee, when a cancellation occurs at least fourteen (14) days prior to the beginning date of the WORKSHOP indicated above. Cancellations after that date will receive a credit good for one year which may be applied to enrollment in a WORKSHOP. Client may change to a different date WORKSHOP for no additional fee." She is sent an invoice and she pays the first of three payments in the amount of $*** on 8/31/20 On September 8, ***** informed her client rep in a phone call that her husband had backed out of the workshop and that she would not make her second payment. There was a discussion about moving her to another workshop for spouses who want to save their marriage. However before anything could be done on that, *****n called back on September 10 and notified us that her husband had decided to attend and she would proceed to make her second of three payments of $*** which was due on 9/11. Proof of the two payments totaling $***** is attached. On Sunday and Monday September 20 & 21, ***** received two emails equipping her for the workshop that would begin on Friday including the full and complete workshop manual and a behavioral assessment to take. On Wednesday. 9/23, ***** received the link to the zoom meeting for the workshop. At ***** am, Wednesday, September 23, her client rep reached out to ***** to make sure she received all of the resources she needed for the workshop and to make sure ***** understood the third and final payment would have to be made prior to the start of the workshop on Friday. ***** called the client representative back at ***** AM and informed the client rep that her husband's attorney had called her and let her know that he would not be attending the workshop with her. ***** acknowledged this was inside of the two week nonrefundable timeframe but she asked for an exception. The client rep called *****n on October 5 to discuss how to proceed. ***** asked for the Exploring Reconciliation package and additional coaching to work through their marriage crisis. The total value of these additional products/services is $***** of the $***** she had made in two payments. In addition, she received the workshop material and behavioral assessment which have considerable value. Even though we had a right to stand by the no refunds policy in light of electronic goods had been delivered, we made further effort to help her by providing additional resources to improve her marriage. We were left with every impression that she was satisfied, in fact, records show ***** booked a coaching session and began working through the Exploring Reconciliation course. We have no further record of ***** reaching out to us and as you can see our records are fairly thorough. I have included documentation in this report to support the facts. We made every effort to help ***** and her marriage through the delivery of goods and services over and above which she paid.
