I purchased the cancer policy with hopes of never having to use it but I ended up with throat cancer. After filling a claim I received several payments but not in the amount I was owed. Every time I would send what they requested they would say it wasnt good enough and request something else. I did 33 radiation treatments and 6 chemo treatments and only got paid for 5 of them. The customer service reps were helpful most of the time but every time the claims department would turn it down and request another document. The whole experience has been a nightmare. No one should have to deal with this especially while dealing with cancer.Review from Kimi E

After 3 years of paying a bi-weekly premium of ****** for what the sales person said is the "Gold" policy insuring I have top benefit payouts I find this is NOT TRUE. I had a similar policy as a teacher in ******** and NEVER ONCE had an issue when submitting a claim; payouts were done quickly and AS PROMISED.I was diagnosed with shingles through an urgent care; does ANYONE IN TO***'s WORLD GET A DOC APPT with their OWN PHYSICIAN on the *** they need it? No, we all go to urgent care. NTA refused to start my sick time from the date I was diagnosed with urgent care on March 29th, 2024, they made my "claim start date" on April 9th when I went to see my family care physician. The physician did not know how long I would be out as shingles affects people differently and the longevity of it varies. The end date was temporarily set for May 5 with a follow up appointment to take place prior to that end date. The follow up visit found me in dire pain with nerve damage due to the shingles so my "END DATE" was changed to August 5. NTA ONLY PAID OUT FOR THE FIRST INITIAL CLAIM ENDING start DATE April 9 END date May 5th. NOT WORTH THE $408.00 per month. SCAM.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

I signed up for their insurance today. I decided to cancel the policy and I was told on the phone to call back in a few days again to see if I can cancel the policy. I was only told that I would get my cancellation forms in the mail when I asked for an email confirmation. I was only given vague responses. I really want this policy to be cancelled for good.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

THIS INSURANCE IS A SCAM!! My dad had a cancer policy with this company for over 20 years. When he got his cancer diagnosis this year we found comfort in knowing that he had this insurance. Boy were we wrong! After sending in EVERY piece of medical documentation/bills that we received; they paid him $324. After many times reaching out to customer service, which was a nightmare. Their cancer policy is very limited as to what it covers. There is no piece of mind knowing you have this policy. You just pay a bill for years and years and when you need it; you get ripped off.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

I would give ZERO stars if I could. I am a teacher who sat down with an NTA agent that came to my school last year and really sold my disability policy to me. My husband and I had been going through fertility treatment after 2 years of trying for a baby with nothing. I had finally gotten pregnant and had a miscarriage due to pregnancy complications. My pregnancies are VERY high risk due to all of this and multiple other factors such as a protein c deficiency and an immunity disorder. Anyway, after explaining all this, the agent I sat down with assured me that ANYTHING pregnancy related would be covered and he understood how delicate my situation was. Fast forward to now, Im 23 weeks pregnant (thank you *****), have had such a rough time trying to keep this baby in and healthy, *** submitted multiple claims for different issues Ive been having and they wont cover ANYTHING. I cant go back to work because of all the issues, they wont cover anything because Im not confined to a hospital and Im at home carrying my son totally screwed because I was under the impression I would be covered. Now Ive wasted so much money and Im not getting paid a *****. But oh, dont worry they said, youll definitely get something once the baby comes. Yeah, thanks a lot. That will do me a lot of good right now. How ridiculous. Total waste of money, do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy their policy if you need it for pregnancy. Even if youre confined to your bed, they wont cover it unless your hospitalized. I kid you not, I cant even walk around my own house due to my pelvic pain and round ligament injury, and they are saying Im fine to work because Im not confined to a hospital. Absolute scam.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

My wife was an elementary school teacher. She paid for cancer policy since 2006. She passed away from cancer and they will not pay. Same song and dance need this need that. Wrong form, missing form. Its a real con job for sure. They even went as far as saying my wife didnt have a cancer policy. My familys attorney has requested a copy of the policy. They said they would send it. Going on four weeks and still havent seen it. Wolves in sheep clothing. Please do not deal with these professorial criminals. Its absurd the way they treat people and prey on Teachers and EMS employees.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

9/27/23 *** claimed that they never received my July 2023 monthly premium. They mailed correspondence on July 17 saying that my policy was in jeopardy of lapsing. They requested a double payment. I paid it in full. A short time later, I received an application to be reinstated.Baffled, I called to find out why I needed to fill out this application. I was told because they received my July payment after the grace ******* To be sure, I called back again and got the same answer from a different person.I called my bank ( because it didn't make since I had the recurring payments set up. They sent me a two-sided canceled check image which clearly showed that my July payment had been sent. The endorsed check was dated 7/5/23.I got two checks back, the total of which was $.22 shy of what my overpayment was. After two more calls, the last one made today in which I asked to speak to a supervisor, I am still hearing their same talking pointsthat they received the payment after the 31-day grace ****** and that they were still waiting for my application to be reinstated. The supervisor had no knowledge of the email I had sent, nor did she know about the two checks sent out I would like for *** to continue my coverage without my being inconvenienced with having to fill out an application. I would also like to know if they are singling out seniors such as myself (Im 72) to see if we now have pre-existing conditions that would disqualify us from getting coverage.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

I have paid NTA Life for 10years 157$ a month. When I needed help and to be reimbursed. They delayed and stalled and denied payment. I got my *** form filled out by the physician and faxed and there is not even a suggestion that the claim exists. I would recommend American Fidelity for disability or Knights of Columbus. This company is full of jokers who take your monthly premiums and deny payment. I was also in an ambulance and they were supposed to pay out for that and I got zero dinero. I have the disability plan and would not recommend it to anyone. I am a teacher and they are owned by Horace **** and their sales pitch is they care about educators but that is just words. Very angry. 2 months waiting for them to pay out. If I could give zero I would. Their customer service ladies are kind and patient.National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

CANCER POLICY BENEFITS ARE NOT BENEFICIAL TO CANCER PATIENTS - I HAVE HAD NTA LIFE FOR APPROXIMATELY *********************************************************** 2017. I HAVE HAD RECURRENCES IN 2021, 2022, AND 2023. THE COMPANY IS REALLY GOOD IN PAYING FOR CHEMOTHERAPY/RADIATION BENEFITS BUT PLEASE DO NOT EVER HAVE TO GO INTO THE HOSPITAL FOR ISSUES RELATED TO THE CANCER AND CAUSED BY THE TREATMENT OF CANCER.During this last diagnosis for recurrent Ovarian Cancer, this company has given me the blues and stressed me out to the **** My oncologist administered a different type of chemotherapy that caused me to become severely ill. I developed low platelets, low red blood cell count, high white blood cell count, and a pleural effusion. I have been in the hospital on 3 different occasions from June to July 2023. The first visit was because I was dizzy, feverish, chills, and had a severe headache. The paramedics transported me to the hospital, and I was admitted because it was determined that these symptoms were due to the treatment of chemotherapy. I was in the hospital for 4 days and given antibiotics around the clock and I was also given a blood transfusion due to the low red blood cell count. Hospital benefits were denied because they said it was not directly related to the Cancer. What? Second hospital visit was because the oncologist admitted me. I was in the hospital for 4 days again and had to have a thoracentesis and additional medication. The benefits for that visit were denied. Chemotherapy was stopped because oncologist could not move forward. Admitted again to have surgery to remove loculated fluid from the pleural effusion. I have been in so much pain and distress. Denied again. I appealed the first two visits, but I have not heard anything. I submitted the last hospital visit, and they want additional info just as they did with the first two visits which I submitted and was denied. This company is STRESSING me out! Horrible!National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response

**************** is a joke. They cannot provide details regarding info in the system. My clam was supposed to take **** business days. I called in for an update and ******* told me she could only send an email to the processing department, and they have 72 hours to respond. Its futile to request escalation because the supervisors just repeated the same thing. Oh, forgot to mention that I sent in information for the same claim in 3 emails. Each time they sent back a request for information that was already in their system from the previous update. ******* said because I sent 3 emails, I had 3 different claim numbers, so I had to resubmit the information each time! How ridiculous is that. I asked to speak with someone in the processing department and I was told that they could not connect me to the person processing my claim. I asked to make a complaint and they told me to call back on the customer service line. That was laughable because theres no option to file a complaint. ***** services are horrible!National Teachers Associates Life Insurance Company Response
