I hired this business to remove an old epoxy garage floor coating, and install a new epoxy floor coating in its place. The business owner, *** *, grossly over sold and under delivered on this service. I paid several thousands of dollars, and I received an excessive amount of property damage in return. 1. He didn't properly "sand down" flakes that were installed, that provide color to the floor He used a very cheap buffer "pad" to do this sanding, which in turn left literally thousands of small black fibers being "stuck" underneath the flakes. This improper sanding technique also left numerous flakes essentially unsanded/leveled. 2. He then installed a clear coat of polyurethane directly on top of these glaring defects. The result s that he secured these defects forever into the polyurethane coating, thereby essentially giving be a "black carpet" of fibers that protrude and stick straight up in the air. In addition, the unleveled flakes also protrude straight up and stick up in the air - leaving the floor surface "hairy and bumpy". 3. He then installed a very thick 2nd clear coat of polyurethane directly on top of the 1st layer. This layer was very thick, sloppy, and thick in some areas and thin in other areas. At many points of this 2nd coat, well after it has cured and dried, you can literally peel off the 2nd coating from the floor with plain fingers, as if it was saran wrap. 4. He left numerous "pieces of his roller" that he used to spread the polyurethane on the floor, ON the floor. The roller fell apart and left globs of plastic all over the floor. The work was a 4-day job, from Jun1e 1- to June 13. Since completion, I have had numerous competitor epoxy floor installers view this work, and they have all expressed that this is extremely poor quality work and must be completely redone from scratch to fix it. The owner has denied requests for a refund of $5839. The owner is also in violation of his own written Warranty.

      Good morning,

Our warranty states that if delamination occurs, we will repair it at no charge to the customer.  The warranty does not apply to alterations, modifications, abuse or neglect.  In your situation, microfibers from the buffing pad mixed into the flakes and were not visible to the naked eye. Per your text correspondence, the microfibers were only noticed when you walked on the floor with your bare feet the day after the job was complete.  When you let me know of your concerns, I replied and offered to come back and sand down the fibers and apply another coat of poly. I believe this would have been a suitable and proper remedy.  You immediately, less than 48 hours from job completion and less than 24 hours of being notified of your concerns, threatened to sue me and would not allow me to cure the defect.  I retained counsel and although she has been in contact you to remedy the situation, your complaint being filed with the BBB can only be aimed at hurting the business and our reputation. I am a proud business owner who does commendable work.   I stand by my work and my offer to remediate your concerns.

I am rejecting this response because: The business owner addresses Zero concerns.

Per the attached document from a reputable business,  the damage that Formula Concrete Coatings did to my floor was excessive. Glaring defects that are very easy to spot.  The only remedy available here is a full refund for what is perceived as excessive property damage. The owner cannot be allowed to rework his own property damage because he is negligent, careless, and non-trustworthy.  I cannot allow the business who created the property damage to then attempt to correct the property damage, as the assumption is that more property damage will result. Formula Concrete Coating is unqualified to do this type of work.

      Regards,
