They are fraudulent!Up-charging on a 100% preventative service To whom it may concern:I recently went for a consultation for a preventative service, specifically a colonoscopy. It's not something anyone looks forward to, right? Given my financial struggles, I went because the procedure was fully covered. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even scheduled the appointment. However, I received a bill for $176.00 for the consultation. When I called the office, they said it was because I mentioned celiac disease and the PA discussed celiac testing with me. Apparently, they coded it based on that discussion.Am I supposed to bring an attorney to my doctor's ************ to ensure I don't say something that results in a chargeable appointment instead of a fully covered service? I've been eating gluten-free for years and have no interest in celiac testing; I wasnt seeking information about it. I told the doctor I was there because of my age and that my digestion had improved since my last colonoscopy. This clinic up-charged me without notifying me of any extra costs. I believe this is fraudulent and a poor business practice. I requested a refund, but they told me it was already coded. This is especially upsetting because my financial situation is diremy family and I only have $276 a month for food. If I were a millionaire in ********, maybe an upcharge wouldn't matter, but we need every ***** right now.My daughter went to the clinic to discuss this issue because it was so upsetting for me, and they sent it back for review, reducing it to $112.00. I'm formally filing a complaint about this unfair treatment. This is unacceptable!Austin Gastroenterology you are crooks and should be ashamed of yourselves.

I had a telehealth consultation which lasted ************************************************************************** a rush to get off the call. Now, I am being overcharged for a "***** min" visit - this is what my **** says.I have tried calling the number listed that says "for billing questions, please call", but no one answers. I have left a voicemail with my name and contact info and no one has called me back in about a month.Basically, they are overcharging and taking advantage of people by not answering their phone and not having any other way to contact them. I do not recommend this medical business.
