In May 2022 we entered into a contract with Together Design and Build for a large remodel of our home (their contract includes a two year limit to take actions against the other party). This included remodeling the kitchen, master bathroom, kids bathroom, and powder room, upgrading lighting, installing sliding door, tiling the fireplace, interior painting, etc. The estimated timeline was ***** weeks. Work started in August 2022 and things were going smoothly for the first month, but we soon realized things weren't progressing as we were told they would be and we were concerned about the quality of the work being done. This was brought to their attention frequently, and I was always told to let them finish before bringing things up. Unfortunately it was impossible to tell what they considered finished, as they would stop in the middle of one project and start on another room in the house and then another- but they never seemed to finish any of the projects completely. By March of 2023 we had paid them nearly $147,000 out of $160,000, and not a single project was finished. At that point work slowed nearly to a stop. As of today, the remodel has not been completed- there is unfinished work, as well as work that needs to be redone because of poor workmanship. The majority of this is in the bathrooms; the bathtub was not installed correctly and is off level and was damaged by their crews, because of the tub being off level there is a large (1/2"+) gap between tile and tub where they've caulked several times but it continues to crack, the large format tile floor in the master bathroom squeaks loudly, is coming up from the subfloor, has a broken tile, and has grout that is cracked. The powder room had a leak from the bathroom above it and they haven't finished fixing it (ceiling paint and light fixture to be installed). They agreed to fix everything about a month ago, but stopped responding after I told them some of their repairs were unacceptable.
