Continental is a horrible company! My parents have paid long term care insurance for almost 25 years and now they need to use it and you cannot get reimbursed. Every time I call I get a different answer, a different type of paperwork that is needed, or they blame the assisted living center for not following up. I requested to speak to a manager and was told it will be up to 5 business days before anyone will return my call. This has been a horrible experience and it is a shame how they take advantage of people. My parents are in their time that they are relying on this insurance policy and I cannot get Continental to do their job and follow the ********* not purchase a policy from them - you will be sorry and broke!

Continental General is an awful company to deal with. My mother has long term care insurance and we have had to fight at every step for coverage. We paid into the policy for over 20 years. Now, when she is in assisted living, it took 6 months for Continental General to accept coverage, and that was after letters to the department of insurance and my congressman. Now, my mother has passed, and we are fighting to get her final months of coverage paid. I have spent countless hours on the phone and am ready to write letters again to the department of insurance and my congressman to even get a call back from someone who knows anything. This company is extremely difficult to deal with, even harder to get someone competent to speak with and in my experience, impossible to get management, without a letter to the department of insurance. After each letter to the department of insurance complaining about Continental General, I have received a call from management and immediate resolution of the issue and an admission that the money was owed and would be forthcoming. These are not questionable claims, these are ordinary, everyday claims that the company runs you in circles for months over.

My mother paid out of pocket for provider services and has been waiting to be reimbursed. Dates of service go from 4/8/24 - 6/30/24. The total of reimbursement is $5,804.56. I have been calling since 6/17 to follow up the status of reimbursement and nothing has been resolved. On 8/6 Continental called to say that the checks were mailed to the wrong agency and would escalate the correction. On 8/21 Continental called and said that the *** had not followed up and would send me a form for electronic deposit into my mothers account so there would be no more delay with reimbursement. My brother faxed the form to Continental on 8/22. We still have not received any reimbursement. 9/9 I spoke with Continental who stated that she was going to process the reimbursement today and that the amount should show up electronically by the end of this week. I am hopeful but reluctant to believe that anything will be resolved simply because I have been told so many times that it would be. Update 9/9 4:45 pm: Continental just called and said that the check was sent out 9/3/24 so the reimbursement won't be electronically deposited. Why that is I don't understand since the request for electronic deposit was made on 8/22. We just want the $5,804.56 to be electronically deposited into my mothers bank account as soon as possible as it has been a financial stress to our family. We have waited for months. There has been so many errors and confusion on Continental's side and there should be no reason for my mother to pay the price of their error. She is a retired teacher, and for all the years she has had Continental she has always paid her premiums on time. Update 9/11/24 Continental now says that a check was mailed to the current provider agency who has not received it. This makes no sense. It's been a huge run around. Is there any truth to anything they say? This is what we've dealt with for months with no end in sight. Feels like elderly abuse.

This company is a complete scam. Hopefully someone will legally make them accountable for how they take advantage of the elderly. I took care of my elderly aunt who was placed on hospice care in November and died in january while trying to file for her LTC. She had been paying premiums monthly over *********************************************** the paperwork, it would always be something else they needed. Each time they would correspond yes, your expenses are definitely covered.but you need to provide additional information. I spent hours documenting expenses for a relativity a small claim. I jumped through many hoops and I promised them I would not give up on getting reimbursed for the principal of the matter. The ultimately denied coverage. Their business plan is avoid paying until the very sick customer loses the will to continue dealing with their nonsense.

I am 85 years old and originally bought a long term care insurance policy from ***************** when I was in my 60s. I started my claim about 2 years ago when I was getting weak and needed a caregiver. For a couple of years, I was able to get my claims reimbursed within 10 business days. Earlier this year of 2024, ***************** transferred the servicing of my policy to Continental General Insurance Company. The service quality dropped off immediately. They said to submit the same form from *****************, but now they needed 30 days. When they were late on responding, I called and was informed that they needed 30 business days. After 30 business days, they said that they will elevate it to be fixed. I asked to speak with a supervisor, and they said that one will call. No supervisor every called me back. When I called them again, they said that my submission was not characterized as an invoice, so it was not processed. They just corrected it and will have it processed.Being 85 years old, all of this has been extremely stressful. I believe that they mean to give me a stroke so I cannot collect my benefits. I think that it is a sham or fraud hiding behind the curtain of incompetence.I regret ever buying this policy which wasted my money paying their premiums, and now I have to pay for my care anyway. I should have just invested my money elsewhere and not having to jump through their impossible and frustrating bureaucracy. These services is the scam to take money from older people who are old and confused.I hope the government investigate and fix this problem to help older people who are getting ripped off because they don't know how to deal with it.I also wanted to warn other people from buying this product because they don't pay the claims like they describe in the policy.

CONTINENTAL GENERAL has yet to pay LTC policy. Every time I call they need another document or it is with the examiner and will be 4-6 weeks. They now owe over $14,000. The newest is the examiner will reach out? I ask howprobably a phone call or mail. Can not get clear info. This company is a scam.

I was forced to lapse after three 20% premium increases in six years. The amount already paid in premiums they quoted was $8,000 less than I calculated from my own records. Phone calls not returned.

This is the WORST insurance company ever. Do not buy long term care with them. My mom has dementia and has been in assisted living since October. We took her out due to the fact that she cannot continue to pay for the care. Family is staying with her while waiting on a decision from the insurance company. They keep adding things that they say they have never received that they havent even asked ******* insurance is a scam. They tell me its not possible to talk to a manager.Im guessing they dont have any? I am in the process of starting legal proceedings to see if we can get any help.Bottom line. Dont buy insurance from them and do a lot of research before you sign up for any long term care!

My mother is in assisted living with dementia. Try to get policy activated that she was paying on since *****. What a scam! Long term care with Continental general is a scam . Everytime you call them , you have to listen to music and they give you a run around. They just take the money for their bonuses! That's about all it's worth! When you do get in touch with them, the office is closed for a meeting ( probably a party). I've never seen anything like this poor business model that they portray. Numerous other people from other states have told me to beware of this company. I guess they are right!
