We are sorry this individual is not happy with our service/mailing. Our form states several times that we are not affiliated with the state and that it is a solicitation. *********** provides a very helpful service for the Designation of Homestead which is a protection on a persons property from creditors offered by the State of Texas. This protection is real and a law in ****** *********** helps homeowner's to file the appropriate paperwork with their ************************ to benefit from this protection. 1 starThis company sends out mass mail to new homeowners with purposefully misleading verbiage in an attempt to extract money from those who don't fully read the fine prints. We provide the service of assisting homeowner's with the Designation of Homestead. This Homestead filing is completed at the county clerk's office, provides a protection for a property from creditors and is very much real. It is different than the Homestead Tax Exemption which is completed at the county appraisal district and helps to reduce property taxes. Both Homesteads are available to homeowners in ***** and as stated we only assist with the Designation. We are sorry this homeowner did not read the form we mailed which states the Designation (our service) does not affect their tax exemption.Review fromErica D

We do not show any record that we mailed a solicitation to Ms. ** in the *****************. She may have received a mailing from one of our competitors though. She also mentions that the notice does not state "This Is An Advertisement" which ours does in large, bold font which is another reason we think she may have received a mailing from a competitor. Unfortunately there are several companies in ***** that provide this same service and all have similar names and forms with small modifications.Review fromMehdi Z

Based on the verbiage noted on the document, I was under the impression this was a required and legitimate service and that I needed to file for homestead exemption. I already paid the $55 fee after realizing this was UNREQUIRED. I sent an email to the link that was provided on the document asking for a refund. Please address this as soon as possible and remove my mailing address.Homestead Recording Service

Unfortunately through the review you sent we do not get any information to as who the customer is so if you emailed asking for a refund it should be processed if you included the appropriate information. Homestead Recording Services is a document preparation company that exclusively services home owners wishing to protect their home's equity from creditors. There are two uses of the term "homestead" in ***** and, as mentioned on our solicitation, we only service the designation of homestead and not a homestead tax exemption. Homeowners may choose to utilize our service to request their designation of homestead for a fee or may do it on their own. We provide the service of helping a homeowner file for the Designation of Homestead which is a filing for a protection on the property from creditors. Our company prepares the documentation a homeowner would use to file at the county clerk's office to be eligible for this protection. I received a letter from them about homestead. I completed/notarized all the documents and paid all of the fees for them to do the recording for me. Its been over 2 months and I havent received anything saying it was processed. I contacted the countys recording office, and they have nothing. This is a scam. I wish I would have read the reviews before giving them my money.Homestead Recording Service

Unfortunately without the customer's information we can not review their account to see what actions have been taken to date. If we can get this information we can track the account and where it is in the process. It can take several months for the Designation process to be completed depending on several factors so once we get the customer information we can give an accurate update on their filing. We received an official letter from this company making us believe we were filing for the homestead tax exemption. We paid the $35 & $49 that the requested only to find out this is not what we needed to file and its a scam. I am requesting a refund because this is not a necessary service and they are preying on first time homebuyers. As all the reviews show we are not the only ones.Homestead Recording Service

Thanks for the inquiry from ********************** We prepared and filed the Designation of Homestead for ********************* and her husband. This filing is completed at the county clerk's office and does not affect the tax exemption. It is not a scam. The Designation of Homestead is a law in ***** that protects a homeowner's property from creditors. In order to be protected under this law a person needs to file the appropriate paperwork with the county clerk's office (not tax assessors). We assist homeowners in the document preparation and the filing if they request. We provided both of these services for ********************** The paperwork that she and her husband signed in from of a notary and returned to us with a $49 payment was sent to the *******************'s office for filing on 8-7-2023. Once filed they will receive the original back showing they have completed the Designation (protection from creditors). In doing this we paid Harris county their fee which is why we charged $49 for the filing. We are sorry ********************* does not like our service and will mail out a refund check in the next week.
