As part of our operations, we regularly sell accounts to third-party financial institutions to finance our business. This is a common practice within the industry and is fully disclosed to customers at the time of sale.
In this particular case, the customer was properly notified via email and text message, as required by the third-party institutions that have taken over the financing of their loan. The customer was also contacted directly by the financial institution that purchased their account. This process is in full compliance with the legal requirements set forth by both the state and the financial institutions that oversee such transactions.
The customer claims that there was no notification of the loan transfer, but we can confirm that all required communications were sent to the customer, and the transfer process followed all legal guidelines. Additionally, we would like to address the customer's reference to federal law, which pertains to mortgage transactions. The federal law cited in the complaint does not apply to vehicle loan transactions, and we have followed the appropriate guidelines for the sale and transfer of automobile financing contracts.
Furthermore, we have previously addressed this matter with the ******************************************** (****), and the complaint was closed after a determination was made that the transaction complied with all applicable regulations. The **** confirmed that Long Motors is fully permitted to sell or transfer financing contracts as part of our business operations. We have attached the closure notice from the **** for reference.
We understand that receiving communication from a new lender can be unsettling, but we assure the customer that everything was done in compliance with the law, and the new lender is responsible for providing any further account details, including new account numbers.
We value our customers and their satisfaction, and we have made every effort to ensure this process is transparent and in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
If the customer has any further questions or concerns, we encourage them to reach out to the financial institution that now holds the loan for additional clarification or assistance.
Thank you for your understanding.Initial Complaint

Long motors is a fraudulent company, selling lemons that they half a** fix, while KEEPING customers spare keys! Ive been in the hospital with my daughter and while here my key has gone missing! I called long motors in order to get my spare key, and was given the run around. ***** was VERY unprofessional, screaming on the phone and hanging up on me. So I caught a ride to long motors to see if theyd give me MY second set of keys that I paid for, because I shouldnt have to pay $600.00 to make a new key when I KNOW for a fact that the dealer has my key and the ignorant, incompetent, unprofessional humans that work there would not give me MY key that i pay for monthly! How is it legal for a company to keep keys to a vehicle that was purchased? Anyone from that dealership has access to my car 24/7! I NEED MY SPARE KEY THAT I PAY FOR! Dont buy a car from them as ***** stated (she represents Longmotors) its the 21st century she doesnt have to provide good customer service, or tell the truth RUN PEOPLE RUN! I also asked for mangers name and contact and she said she didnt have one they play too many games and its ridiculous!Business Response

The customer inquired both by phone and in person about obtaining a spare key for their vehicle. Unfortunately, we do not have a spare key for this vehicle, nor does Long Motors maintain a spare key on behalf of the customer. The account is flagged with "no key," indicating that a spare key is not available.
We would like to remind the customer that inventory that is purchased at the auction, or is traded in from other customer - typically do not come with spare keys, as they are not provided to us from the seller. Vehicles guaranteed to include a spare key are generally those sold by certified franchise resellers or as brand-new factory vehicles.Initial Complaint

Its now 9 months later and Ive only driven the car **** miles with regular maintenance and the engine to car is giving out. Found metal shavings in the oil filter. Called Long Motors because the guy that sold me the vehicle told me that there was a warranty that was ****** miles or a year which ever came first. I called the company and they are no help with no answers and do not want to service the vehicle and now Im having to return cause I am unable to afford to purchase a **** to **** motor that a mechanic quoted me and now me and my kids have no vehicle. I dont know if there is a law about cars like this cause I know very well that there should be a company that sells vehicles that breakdown less than a year or at **** milesBusiness Response

It appears that you were informed by the salesperson that there was a warranty with specific mileage and time limits (****** miles or one year)on your vehicle. However, we must clarify that we do not provide or control warranties. These warranties are typically offered and administered by third-party insurance agents, and the coverage they provide can vary widely depending on the terms and conditions of the specific plan you may have purchased.
I understand your frustration with the situation, and I recommend reaching out to the insurance agent or provider who sold you the warranty for further clarification on what types of repairs are covered and any potential recourse available to you. They should be able to guide you through the process of making a claim and determine whether the engine issue you're facing falls within the scope of coverage.
We regret that we are unable to directly service your vehicle or provide warranty coverage since we do not control the terms of third-party warranties. We genuinely sympathize with your situation and the inconvenience it has caused you and your family.
Please feel free to provide us with any additional information or documentation related to your warranty or service plan, and we will do our best to assist you in any way we can within the confines of our sales policy.
Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience you've faced, and I hope that this matter can be resolved promptly through your warranty provider.Initial Complaint

I purchased a car from them on April 13, 2022. After buying the car- before I left - I noticed the ** wasn't working and they put freon in it. It was still not working and they said the compressor was bad. I left without my car as they were going to fix it. I picked it up on a Friday and by Tuesday, the check engine light was on - went back to dealer and they said it was a spark plug. They fixed it. On the Friday of that week - the seat was not working, nor the internal lights.. They wanted me to bring it in on Monday and they said it was a fuse. Left the car with them and got it back. Then the seat wasn't working again - took it back again. I told them I didn't want this car...sell me something different. They let me borrow another car and said the seat needed a new motor. They said they fixed it. (All of this was within the 90 day warranty) They also promised that I wouldn't have any more problems as I wanted to return it at that time while it was under warranty. September I had my brakes worked on and they said the issue I was having was a rack and pinion problem. November the check engine light came on again and Auto Zone said it was a catalytic converter - but the car was having the same issues as within the first 90 days. I actually had smoke inside my car last week - seems the electrical system on the seat is not working again! All of these items will cost over $5000 to fix. Money I don't have. They all stem from the original issues when I purchased the car. I took it back after all of these issues and they wouldn't let me trade it in now. I really can use some help. I need a car to get to work and care for me and my disabled son. I just need a reliable car! They have all the paperwork on my car and never gave me any of it. I have receipts from the brake company and the Auto Zone stating what is wrong. Please help me. I really feel they are taking advantage of me.Business Response

Hello,
We have helped *************** different occasions when the vehicle presented any problems that have been fixed at no cost, or no labor cost to the customer. We offer only ****** warranty for 'drive train' issues, which are the main repairs, such as transmission, differential, driveshaft, axles, CV. joints, and the wheels, the issues this vehicle has presented in the past have not been drivetrain related, and some repairs that are not covered by warranty have been goodwill. ***************************** account was also transferred to a different Financial Institution in June 2022, and it's not been serviced by Long Motors, *** anymore.

I am rejecting this response because I feel they knowingly sold me a car that had problems. One of the issues I'm having with the car (the electrical problem with the seat and lights inside) was never fixed properly. Other problems I pointed out within the 90 day period are still present. The point is, they sold me a car that they shouldn't have and I want them to own that and replace it with a working car or give me my money back.
Regards,

***************, thank you for your promptly response. The issues the vehicle presented at time of purchase were addressed, as well as the other issues that were repaired. The vehicles are purchases 'AS-IS' and we have assisted with the issues while the vehicle belonged to Long Motor's portfolio, your account was transferred to MidAtlantic Finance June 2022, and it is not owned or serviced by Long Motors since then. The retail contract of the vehicle purchased clearly states any repairs outside of drivetrain -that was covered by the warranty- must be covered by the owner of the vehicle.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: they are shirking their responsibility. They did NOT fix the problems they said they fixed or I would not be having the persisting problem with the same issue they said they fixed! Please help me trade the car back to them for something that is a quality car.
Regards,

The customer brought the vehicle to our shop because of some noise the vehicle was presenting while it was driving, the right axle was presenting problems and it was fixed 07/27/22, the customer said if the car was still presenting issues she would return to the shop, however it was not until 08/16 that the account manager called the customer when we were notified the vehicle was still presenting issues and customer made a promise to pay 08/27/22 - we have not heard back from the customer and the shop is aware of the situation. The vehicle is also under warranty as it was purchased 06/15/22 and the warranty lasts 3 months or 3 thousand miles, whichever comes first, at the time the customer brought the vehicle in on 07/16 it still had over ***** left of the ***** thr warranty covers, we highly encourage the customer to run the problem through the warranty as it is a no cost.
