    Paid up front for job and its been over 2 years and the job is not done.. he says he coming and never do.. I called and he ignores my call

    I hired ***** ****************** to do some construction on my home and he stole the down payment money and will not return my phone calls or request for a refund. More specifically, he was hired to replace ********* and replace the old carpet and place new vinyl flooring in my downstairs.Initially he seemed knowledgeable and competent to complete the construction project, but that turned out not to be the case. ***** ****************** claimed to have used $5,500 of the money paid to him on my materials, but when I asked him to deliver my vinyl flooring, thats when he disappeared. (I did not get a contract for the project and that was a huge mistake.) I asked him to deliver my materials because I was going to go with another contractor. Mr. ****************** drug the project out for several weeks and did not have the manpower or know how to finish various parts of the project.He also missed several days of work because he complained of health issues and on more than one occasion, I would come home to find him sitting in his truck the phone. He kept claiming that he was giving me something free when in fact, everything he mentioned was already in the insurance estimate. He never even read the write up. I was back and forth with my insurance company because he kept finding reasons to ask for more money, but every issue he expressed was in the estimate. The back and forth process was a nightmare.I went with ***** ****************** because he claimed to be able to save me some money on my insurance deductible and work within my terms. The trouble that I am left with makes me wish that I had just spent the additional $4000 on a reputable contractor.Be weary. Choose a reputable contractor.
